I recently saw someone demonstrating a battery welder where they just put the probes on the battery strip and didn't have to push a button. Apparently it senses the short, then builds and releases a charge. Think you can work that in? I can only think of using a micro controller but I guess that would complicate it.

It was actually designed for another project, but i managed to use 555 ic as mili seconds timer, so used in spot welder project, You can check new version of this spot welder with compact pcb based on 555 ic

0:33 schematic looks different than drive schematic and capacitor value is 1uF in drive schematic please clear this thing because I didn't understand , im gonna make it
Actually i used the pcb that was actually made for another project, but it also served me for this purpose, The circuit diagram uploaded is fully working. And i have provided PCB files of both. Either you can use same pcb like shown in video, or download New spot welder driver PCB, it is upto your choice.

I'm soon uploading automatic spot welder using microcontroller, this circuit is also working awesome, since it is easy to make without programming

Too week weld…what is the amperage ?Did you measure with the clamps ?
The weld is strong enough to weld the cells together, you can add more mosfets to get high power welding shots.

Then, why did you add a relay to the PCB layout? Can I use the relay instead of the MOSFETs?
This pcb was actually designed for another project, but it also served to this project, you can find new driver pcb files link in video description
Relay will actually fuse with a single weld, also it cannot do switching with mili seconds of switching pwm

You can use transformer but should be 30A atleast and will be huge, so good is to go with 35Ah lead acid battery or 2000mah 12v 🍊 lithium battery

You need to use 12 volts with minimum 35Ah lead acid battery, (or 2000mah lithium polymer battery as they can discharge high current)
