Was nice to see a bit of the layout. A video of the whole layout there would be good 🙂
I'm not seeing the appeal of this over just putting a GoPro or RunCam on a well wagon. The footage is extremely wobbly, nauseatingly so. I would have expected a purpose-built unit to have some sort of stabiliser like foam or spring suspension, a lot more weight would help too I suspect.
Must say I agree, not really sure what this is bringing.
I've found running your camera in reverse can make it seem a little smoother, but yes some form of smoothing would help. I also thought Polaroid had stopped producing those little cube cameras, so does the trolley come with the camera or do you have to source your own?
For £22 I think it’s good
For OO and certainly N a Gopro would be far too big. There is freeware software available to stabilise the video.
It is a useful 'first stab' 'quicky' that shows the average user what they might achieve with just a little time and patience etc.
I did a evaluation of this idea a couple of years ago with another 'cube' camera, so I was interested to so it being done commercially.
I think the £22 tag is excellent value, a price point that puts it in reach of many who want to 'ride the rails' on their layout and a starting point for clubs to put up on RUclips, or even on a screen beside the show layout - when it becomes possible again.
Long term we might even see some improvement in track laying and scenery normally 'out of sight'.
With respect, your comments are pretty unfair Alec. We have yet to find a Go Pro, Run Cam or any equivalent of a suitable size available for £22. You are asking to buy a Rolls Royce for bicycle money really aren't you? The appeal is that it costs £22 to go straight out of the box for those who don't need Hollywood quality. If we thought you were trying to be constructive we might pay you more mind, but it feels like you are being a "Smart" Alec to us
I use an SQ-11 mini cam, that I bought for $10 Canadian. It's still available from China (Ali Express) for as little as $2 US. Basically looks just the same as the camera seen here. I've used it for N gauge and OO, just held onto a chassis with a strip of tape or a rubber band. My latest RUclips video with that: ruclips.net/video/h8qDsb6kdtY/видео.html The advantage of these cameras is that they'll fit through tunnels, under bridges, etc, even in N gauge, which a Go Pro or a Runcam won't.
The demo would be better if the train were slowed down to a realistic train speed.
whats about to happen to poor henry the hoover at 1:38

At £22 it isn’t very expensive. On the other hand it isn’t that wonderful either, especially if you already have a mini camera and some rolling stock.
If one has a mini cam and rolling stock already, it is indeed superfluous
There is a lot more wrong with this video other than just image stabilisation, unless you are going to put a DVD in the magazine to show up a camera's good and bad points can you really pontificate about a camera in print alone? No. It has to be a DVD, so people can know what level of quality to expect if they make a purchase. Just to reinforce a point that I agree with, other commentators on this thread have indicated that camera was travelling far to fast on the layout which can ruin a camera's creation of Hi-Def images.
Good principle but test run was far too fast!
Hi , Fantastic, I want one
Thanks Micky
