- Correction to the last part of the video. The DWA is 0.109m, not 0.136m. Subtract 0.109m to the initial draft to find the final draft.
This video shows how to calculate the fresh water and dock water allowance and determine the final draft due to the change in the water density.
Fresh Water Allowance (FWA) is the number of millimeters in which the ship's mean draft changes when she passes from salt water to fresh water or from fresh water to salt water when she is loaded to its summer displacement.
Dock Water Allowance (DWA) is defined as the number of millimeters in which the ship's mean draft changes when she sails from salt water to dock water or when sailing from dock water to salt water when she is loaded to its summer displacement.

Correction to the last part of the video, the DWA should be 0.109m, not 0.136m.
thanks for the video, im preparing for second officer and this is a great help!
You're very welcome! I'm glad the video is helpful. Best of luck!
can you give an example on how the DWA is calculated to 242 and 248?
I will try.
Thanks 🙏👍
Awesome video lad
Welcome & thanks.
awesome video! many thnaks for understanding.
You are welcome! Thanks.
Excuse me Mr. , Correctly if I'm wrong, your DWA in your second example, I think it's wrong, it's 0.109 to calculate the Arrival Draft
In 11:16 Mr.
Yes, you are right. Thank you. The DWA should be 0.109 m not 0.136, subtract 0.109 m to the initial draft, the final draft is 10.631 m. I forgot to edit the text after I copied it from the previous example. Thank you.
in your next video sir can you also share how to determine the fwd and aft draft from the given mean midship draft
I will, thank you for your comment.
Should have subtracted 0.109 from 10.740 for the 2nd example but thanks I got the concept
@@seciliagabriel7879Yes, DWA should be 0.109m, not 0.136m. Thank you. I HAVE ALREADY PINNED THE CORRECTION IN THE COMMENT SECTION. Thank you again.
