Every single review = "This bike is amazing!".
Most bikes are
Haha ure right
It's hard to find a bad motorcycle these days.
To me, currently i think there are propably 2 bikes that i dont really like. Kawasaki 650cc bikes are just so booring, they do everything but the engine is just so flat. The other one is BMW RnineT, they look cool but to me it is the handling on them, front feel is so heavy and transmission on them just simply put sucks.
As someone who has owned several bikes the first ride is always fun. He does give you good feedback as he’s riding so if you’re interested in buying one listen to the use case and see if it suits your riding style.
I bought one on south of France...allready made 2000 km on it...this bike is surprisingly powerfull...man...this engine in B or A mode is à blast
In love with this bike
V stroms have always been fantastic bikes....this is another one
I can’t wait to get this exact one. Love the color, love the Suzuki history of reliability, normally a brand new model bike I would wait but I trust Suzuki. Looks like a bike that wants to be your friend and go on adventures
I bought one too here in France ....2000 km on the odo.....à blast
One thing I like about Chase vs every other Motojournalist is that he doesn’t blur his gauges all the time. Great content with good variety of bikes. Managed to earn a sub from me
This morning I tested 2020 Tiger GT 900, a Tiger 660, and the new DE800. I really was surprised how much I loved the DE800. I think it won or the 8s as well. That 660 engine is seductive as hell too. Now I have to sit back and decide
Out of those, can't go wrong with Suzuki's reliability track record and worldwide parts / dealer availability.
My pops just bought one and can confirm, it is amazing!!
Oh snap Suzuki! That exhaust note is strong!
This thing seriously needs cruise control. It'd be an awesome bike for long highway tints.
So is a Versys 650 for half the price .
Veridian cruise, aftermarket plugin.
Bought 800de adv. Fantastic. Comfort. Massive power. Yoko exhaust sounds sick
Looks good, definitely the best color option for this bike! 5500rpm vibration a bit of a concern but loved the motors responsive hit in the 40 to 80 pull. Hope you get your hands on the GSX 8S soon!
I own a Vstrom 800 DE. The Vibration are minimal compared to Versys or CFMoto MT650
@@NoSkillzMoto Thanks for sharing that info! Curious what kind of gas mileage your getting? I'm actually interested in the GSX 8S model but it comes with a fairly small gas capacity and so far I've only seen mileage figures from the press launches (where the bikes are ridden harder than normal) and am interested what kind of real world mileage I should expect.
@@richardwarsinske7064 Still under 1k. Need to break in the motorcyle engine first. You do need 90+ Octane in it.
@@NoSkillzMoto How is it's heat management? SO many adventure bikes cook your legs.
@@jmsmikey It does get warm but not to the levels of Crotch boil of a CFMoto MT650 or Triumph. I have Klim short boots and Traverse pants and I was doing parking lot test for about 20 minutes in 28C and it did get warm around the feet and knees. On the high way it was not an issue. Definitely not the same as the vstrom 650 but I didn't mind the amount of heat.
The fact that you have 2nd person perspective video is worth everything. Awesome work in a world of 6000 fpv reviewers with shitty video of a handlebar for 30 mins. Keep it coming 💪
When you have a whole camera crew to help you, things like that are possible lol.
IKR, I cannot stand the pov style review. I mean, show me the fucking bike.
This colorway is fire, just wish it came with the gold wheels.
My gsxr has that gray, I love it
Totally right about how much power you need. I recently test rode a Pan America at Babes Ride out. It has an amazing engine, like crazy good...but at over 600 lbs wet and darn near 30k... It's really hard to justify. Cost/benefit, 800 cc is great for touring and some light off-road
Another great first ride and a sharp looking bike. Suzuki might have a winner on their hands. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Add cruise control, heated grips and bring the price down to say $10,999 (DE)/$11,999 (DE Adv) and you have yourself a very strong competitor in the segment.
People that buy new adventure bikes 1k isn't make or break to them. This bike is priced right where it needs to be in the adv segment. What adv bike has all the stuff u say at 11k?
L take
Stock exhaust sounds pretty decent actually!
Nah, is very quiet. Is more like a suppressor than an exhaust. But he does that job very well, sounds are in check for long rides.
It does, I have ridden the RE and DE and both sound great, not loud, but pleasant.
You aught to hear the Yoshi R-12 on this thing. Mean machine.
no one need more power, everyone WANTS more power, because its just fun jaja. i guess we get used to the power we have, and miss the feeling of excitement of a strong pull
For me it was a purchase. I got this color scheme as well because it is definitely the sharpest looking one. That said, I have also added crash bars, a proper skid plate, have luggage coming, barkbusters coming, and will be getting a kaoko cruise control adapter to solve that problem.
Veridian offers plug-in cruise control, just FYI.
Just really nice and on point bike that's why I bought one 😊
I was waiting for this one. This is probably my first pick for my first ADV bike following my overall first bike, which is a Spartvilen 401.
I really like how Suzuki worked things out. Everything is well put together, including the tail rack that doesn't look tacked there like on a Kawasaki. It doesn't look like an after tought, is what i'm saying.
I'm really tempted. At the same time, is it *too* tamed? Will I get bored by a *too* perfect bike? I need to get a test ride...
ADV bikes are the best all arounders hands down... especially on our bad U.S. infrastructure crumbling roads.
The roads in the UK are awful too, some pot holes are about 12" deep
I have cruise control on my v85tt and in the summer rode from the uk to Italy 4500 miles in 17 days hardly used cruise control a little bit over rated if were honest how many tines do we use it with the roads so congested?
Does it not have turn signals? Didn't see them come on once.
I remember Suzuki doing surveys for this bike and I didn't check cruse control as a top priority. Remember for ever person say they must have somethin, there is 2 more saying they want something simpler. The 1050 has it if you need it.
One downside is premium gas. The 650 goes with the cheap stuff. Better range too. And if you are commuting that matters.
The range is the same for me. I had a DL650XT 2020 and have ridden the DE and RE and found the MPG about the same, and as the tank is the same size, the Range will be the same.
You are the only one I have heard say that!@@blackskunk54
800 gets about 50 mpg. 5.3 gal tank means a boat load of range.
You just sold me on this bike ,it looks awesome .
If glass sparkle black was available in the non pannier version, Suzuki would’ve won my business.
I pick the Road version of this bike next Saturday. It has road biased tires and a 19in front
Thanks for this review, Chase. I would agree if you're gonna be putting miles away, you have to have cruise control. Nothing wears me down more than having to stay on top of the throttle. I don't understand why Suzuki would not have included that.
Because they want to upsell you to the 1050!😮
Throttle lock. It's a day.
I really consider this Suzuki to be my next one or the Tenere 700. Can you tell about vibrations on the highway and engine heat? Thanx bro, just loveeee your reviews 👌👍✌️
I have my 800DE now since Summer last year and have used it about 5.000km (3,000 miles for the lovers of less logical metrics) and I can tell you, that from my perspective the vibrations you get at about 5.000rpm in the footpegs are not an issue at all for me. Engine heat I never even experienced, although it is not as hot in Germany than in othe rplaces, so there is that. Nevertheless, it is an awesome bike! It is even more comfortable than the BMW 1250 GS (twice the price) I had before that, and that is saying something!
How did we used to survive without cruise control back in the 😂😂
Yes, exactly, having ridden 53 yrs without it I do wonder what all the fuss is about. We had no ABS, no Traction Control, no Tubeless tyres, no CC, no RBW, no fuel gauge, no air temp, no heated grips, no indicators, no GPS...etc, etc, and people still rode around the world no problem
In cars or bikes?
Stiff cramped leg.
Stiff cramped arm.
I had a hand on this bike today but cruise control is a huge thing for me.
I agree with you, Chase. The cruise control is a big deal. Specially, if you’re traveling, if you can, get cruise control on the ibex, which is a cheaper bike less money and you’re getting cruise control look out Suzuki Honda, Yamaha Chinese are common strong. better wake up or it’s too late.👍
How do you feel it would work for a beginner?
Love your reviews. Been looking forward to this one. . would love to see you do a small off roadie section for these adv bikes.. like you did with the KLR review..
I am very interested in this bike. All the reviews have been good so far.
always like me a v-strom, super cool advs
Been waitjng for this!!!!!
How does it compare to the ibex?????
Ibex is an animal
Need to try and get your hands on the Husqvarna Norden 901 adv bike!
Suzuki has a bigger wind screen for V strom 800de as an accessory
So why not make the smaller screen an accessory? They put on a quick shifter but they can't put on a decent windscreen that actually works? If they were designing a truly adventure bike to go offroad why would you need a quick shifter? It's an adventure touring bike that once again is designed for 90% tarmac.
@@bcinspectorman The small screen is for off-road use which the DE is aimed at. I have ridden the DE and the small screen is fine on the road, though.
Puig, MRA, CalSci, Givi, National Cycle, MadStad, T-Rex Racing, Suzuki Accessories, the world is your windscreen oyster.
Im between this and the Tenere 700..trading mt07 on whichever one i get... im a bigger person 6'2 279lbs. really depends on which ones suspension is better stock with adjustments.. wish i could try both out
Tenere 700 for the suspension, but of you use the highway for lo'g distance Suzuki will be very helpful
The main thing I would like to know about this suzuki is how plush is on the road.. how it'dealing with bumps and road imperfections. Does it produce some headshake or its super plush. Tnx.
Fantastic
is that muffler bracket bolt on or welded to the frame? Its a weak part of the Yamaha T7.
It's bolted
Have you done a review on the 21+ ZX-10R?
Does it have ride by wire? If yes, cruise control is something which can be installed as an add-on
Yes, it has, and the Verizon cruise I have installed on mine works fine!
@@SpeedingCophow is the bike for city ride and touring with two up . I am confused between 800de and Honda NC750x manual
@@NishadAbdulkhader It should be totally fine for touring with two up, however, I can not really tell since I do not do that. I suggest to take test rides with your significant other and he/her needs to tell you about comfort on the back seat. Other than that, I am sure both will do pretty well, depending on your power expectations. As for city rides, the bike is awesome, apart from the really wide handelbar. That limits the possibilities to go in between cars in front of a stop light a bit. But I do not mind that at all, and that is true for all adventure bikes. At the end of the day you need to test ride all bikes you are interested in anyway, since a lot of those things boil down to personal preference. I really like the comfort and power delivery of my V-STROM and I enjoy every minute I spend driving it, just because it ticks all the boxes for me. I am sure the Honda is also an awesome bike, it just ticks other boxes. I assume the Honda will be more capable offroad, and she delivers it's power more in the higher rev range. If that is important to you, than she might be the better pick for you. I hardly ever go offroad (and if I do, it is just offroad in the sense of "not paved"/gravel road, so not really offrad), and I enjoy power and torque in the lower/midrange revs, so I prefer the Suzuki.
@ thank you sir well noted . Enjoy your ride and stay safe 👍🌹 so basically you are using on roads . Even with an adventure tourer set up the bikes behaves very well and courteously on the paved roads ! Am I right in my understanding
@@NishadAbdulkhader Yes, you are correct. I have driven dozens of motorcycles in my life, the one before the V-Strom was a BMW R 1250 GS. And what I can tell you, the Suzuki is giving me 95% of the fun/joy of the BMW (which is also an amazing bike! There is a reason why it is so popular), the only downside is the reduced power in comparison. And I did find out that I do not need 136bhp on an adventure bike (only when you overtake cars any bhp is welcomed). So I get 95% of a GS for less than half the price! The V-Strom is an amazing deal if you ask me. However, as I mentioned before, it is all about presonal preference. So go out and test ride the things which might work for you, and then make an educated decision.
this or the ibex 800?
Direct competitor to CFMoto Ibex.. Seriously as a former owner of a CFMoto.. Please don't compare as far as I am concerned Chinese CFMoto Trash to Suzuki. Sorry not Sorry. CFMoto for some reason keep getting shilled all the time as "good" Nope.. They need another 3-5 years of catching up in QA, and design, but they are cheap and keep throwing "features" at the bike to make them seem like a great buy but will most likely fail. I hate CFMoto and at this time I say avoid this brand. Ditched my CFMoto for VStrom 800DE
What model did you have
@@Tren_Rides MT650
cfmoto "explore" mt800 has the ktm 790 motor, this might be great
How is your Vstrom now ? Are you happy? How it perform in city bumper to bumper rides ? I am looking for a commuter bike with occasional touring two up . Please advise
@@NishadAbdulkhader I love my DE 27K on it. I have no issue with CIty riding but it will be a warm bike. If you do city riding I would go for the RE version. I do a lot of offroading and my main complaint is the soft suspension. I am getting that redone now.
Nice review. I like the bike. Definitely don't need more power but could do with less weight. It's got quite good spec but it is fairly expensive.
Great Bike!
Suzuki made a mistake by not putting cruise control on this bike. They really need to do that.
That's a gundam colorway.
Mi piacerebbe sapere se il motore scalda, grazie.
Please make a review of the GSX-8S as well i know the engine is the same but i would love to hear what you think about it!
Got to sit on a new blue GSX 8S today and it looks stunning!
which one you prefer? 800DE or 800MT
U must be kidding?
Just go to 3:45
Highway is utter chaos, what's going on? Passing on the left, cars just going in all lanes at the same speed, wtf
It is enough power solo but not sure I would like that two up hauling luggage. Tubed tyres not very practical for the average road rider though. You get a puncture in a group tour and you’re waiting for a tow truck unless you can fix it yourself.
Did you ride it?? The power is astonishing.......i was very surprised !!!😊
I don't understand this thinking, I have put Thousands of miles on spoke wheels and never had a problem
@@falchiherve2024 I'm a fan of the Suzuki ethos and that bikes engine seems awesome & universally liked. I just don't fancy tubes.
@@elbolillo2703 It is a very simple concept to understand is it not? Like you I have travelled many miles and years and never had a puncture then I get four in a relatively short space of time. It is totally random. But those four times I was glad I was not waiting for a tow truck in the middle on no where (with any riding buddies inconvenienced by me) or trying to take the wheel off to change it myself.
@@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff preventative maintenance, you have to check your spokes
im not buyin some cheap ass ibex800t, crazy that youd pass on this for chinese garbage for cheap
I would not buy a Ch*nk bike sir.
I like the blue yellow color scheme option. Lack of cruise control is a letdown.
Veridian cruise filling in the gap.
This or a Tiger 660 sport for touring and commuting
🤔
Tube tires Junk
i prefer it than the transalp
Off road this thing shines. On road it is better than the Tenere and the KTM 890R. Being bested only slightly by the 890r in the dirt.
When are we gonna see a Honda Hornet 750 first ride?
Cf moto ibex 800T has 94 horsepower. Suzuki has 83 horsepower. Not the same at all. Both have the same torque
Ya he got that one wrong for sure.
Tuned, the Suzuki picks up another 12 hp.
Heck yeah!!!! First!!!! EAT THAT ONE YANTO AND GHOST!!!
Not hungry, but thanks though.
Also didn’t say who the bike was for or what it’s good at, completely skirted that piece
Cool now the gsx8s please
Ohhhh no cruise control is a big negative
No V twin, it's a parallel twin. It's not a a V-strom, it's a Pee Stream.
V stands for versatility!
😆😅🤣
@@cedric7016 bro just let him have it, that joke slapped.
Go ahead and inform Suzuki corporate that they done messed up by defining their own products, and some schmuck out there ain't fooled by their mess.
More bling on the 800MT but for my money id rather have the 800DE. If I had a dollar for everytime someone said "Yeah but its got a KTM engine on the 800MT " i'd be a millionare. hahaha
I have had an invite to go test ride the 800MT and I'm sure it will ride well but for re sale you will take a big hit. Not so with a Suzuki.
consumption and build quality-wise, suzuki is just better
Does it give you dopamine???? Bout to pick me one up 😂
Nope. Still doesn’t tug on my “I want this” string. Still stuck on a Kawasaki versys 1000 2019+. I know different class but that’s ok.
Same
@@Jeffrey_t_e I road a 23 versys 100 se LT at a Kawasaki demo event a few weeks ago.
Freaking amazing big from the factory. Only thing I would do is an exhaust that’s a little louder.
@@americandude3825 ironically, I also rode a V1000 at a demo event last year in Yuba City, CA. Loved it. Although, coming off of my 2022 KLR, I had to use a lot more countersteer on the V.
Nice review!
Never do the "robot" again...
Do jawa 42 350 review
This is so annoying. I ride an fz6r and was pretty set between the tiger sport 660 and the klx300sm as i live on top of a mountain now and could use something a lil dirtier.
Now Suzuki dark horses out of nowhere with this and I've got a 3 way battle for my heart going on.
That new new V Strom!
V-Strom?? It is a parallel twin, so shouldn't it be the "P-Strom"?
Not if you know how to read Suzuki press materials. And yes, they reserve the right to define it to be whatever they want.
@@exothermal.sprocket If "V" is for V-Twin, and Strom means "current" or stream, then the new bike should be called the "P-Stream".
@@ralphcantrell3214 Sorry nope. Suzuki said V is for versatile. Doesn't matter what you think it should be. They invented the brand, they created the model codes, they make the product, they can call it whatever they want and define it however they like.
@@exothermal.sprocket They can call it whatever they want, but I assure you the average owner of these bikes doesn't see it that way. I have two of them in the garage right now, and I,m pretty sure that, unlike yourself, all Suzuki cares about is where I put my money.
@@ralphcantrell3214 If you started a motorcycle company, built up a brand, assigned model codes, filed patents, were part of board meetings for designs, would you honestly care about a few disgruntled people in the public who criticize your corporate decisions, regarding model codes and patents and marketing materials? No.
trying to keep up with cfmoto ibex800 you just get a lot more on the ibex800 and $1000 less
Real off road test?
I also experienced a vibration, at ca 5000 rpm, when testing the bike. It was a tingling in my feets from the foot pegs and it was actually so much vibration that it’s a showstopper for me. It was very noticeable vibrations with my boots. Could be not a problem for other people, but for me it was. At the highways where I live it´s around 70-75 MPH, I believe right in the "vibration rpm" of ca 5000-5500 RPM? Very unfortunate, because IMO the bike was otherwise great. And also great looking bike, to boot.
U have no vibration at 5000. They appear at slightly less than 6000. And praticaly only on the right side othe engine, feet part.
More than likely a result of EPA noise and emissions standards. EPA requires motorcycles to fall under a certain decibel level at a specific RPM. Manufacturers often solve that by lean fuel mapping in a specific gear (or all gears) at a specific RPM. Lean fueling causes engines to vibrate. Get a tune, they smooth right out.
This or the Honda Transalp is the big question here.
The Suzuki's are more fun to ride with more torque and easy to ride at low speeds (and I have the Honda, which is getting nervous)
Yo can you go tell Yumi his account got hacked? It’s kinda fucked rn
Insane mid level bikes don’t get cruise. Suppose they bag a few more liter bike sales from it.
I love engine braking but try to be nice to the engine, unlike when I ride the power band..not so nice to the engine then 😈.
But it shouldn't be called V Strom anymore, just Strom 800......
Just for that robotic dance engine revving... U earn a sub n a like... great review by the way...😊
All of these parrallel twins are all better in the off-road/trailie style bikes. Probably because that is where they belong...
