Stay Healthy!
Fran I’m 73 years old and I’ve been making and using your raw and organic deodorant for years. I stopped to use the new Lume deodorant and it didn’t come close to yours. So I’m going back to making my own. Yours was 100% better. God bless you and thank you so much. Your deodorant is the only thing that helped my granddaughter that was having underarm issues. I made her some while she visited me and made her some and sent it to her. Plus told her about your video so she could start making her own. Jean from Arizona
This video is SOOOO awesome. Regarding the lemons...there is actually a natural oil in the skin of a lemon. Many folks do not realize it. So, I am not surprised that it is an effective natural deodorant. I am working on removing a lot of the products normally used that are filled with non-so-good chemicals, etc. for me and my family.
I have been making my own deodorant for a year and I have noticed that my hair when it grows back is very very light I hardly have to shave anymore ....love it!!
ciennagirl53 what's your recipe?
Thank you for watching :) Happy Holidays!
Thank you for watching :) Def let me know what you think!
That lemon deodorant really works!!! My daughter who is 15 years old did not use deodorant as we know it for a week and used the lemon instead and she had no under-arm odor at all. She also tried a lime and it had the same affect. Love your vid. thanks for helping us out with organic alternatives. Keep up the good work lady!!
I use lemon juice! I store a little in a small spray bottle in the fridge and it works like a charm plus it helps with the underarm darkness. I swear by it but everyone thinks I've gone too far but natural brands just make my arms dark and I refuse to use anything with aluminum
Akosua Goosby someone just recommended lemons as a deodorant! Are you still using it?
Meela Dixie Williams I am and it's not bad. Leaves you odorless!
I didn't have much luck on my first try. I will do as you do to see if that makes a difference before I give up.
Meela Dixie Williams I’ve been using lemon for over two years now followed by a little coconut oil for moisture works great
This sounds like a great recipe! I recently got on the homemade deodorant train and am trying out a coconut oil/aloe vera gel/ lemon essential oil mix. The oil has anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties, the aloe helps sooth my skin, and the lemon EO makes it smell nice. It is working pretty well for me but I have to apply it by hand since it is too soft to go into a container. Next, I want to try adding shea butter, arrowroot, and tea tree EO.
All of the direct links are in the description box!
My girlfriend put me on to lemon and I love it. As somebody who perspires heavily, lemon has been a lifesaver, but after I have sensitive skin so it irritates my pits on occasion. I will have to try your deodorant, Fran! Thank you!
Direct link in the description box!
Hey Fran I use sweet orange and vanilla oil in my deodorant which creates a beautiful creamsicle scent try it out in all ur natural DIY products you'll be happy u did! :)
I use coconut oil, camphor, tea tree, and eucalyptus essential oils. Good videos!
that will be very strong and sting for someone with sensitive skin. and stink
Well, you have just became my fav organic girl. I'm organic as well always looking for new ideas. I'm 41 years old and I'm finally co-washing my hair and making my own conditioners etc. I do have to say that your deodorant makes better sense with shea and cocoa butter than coconut oil. Seems to solidify much better. I will definitely subscribe. Nice to see others fighting against the grain in products too. Keep on girl.
Lemon definitely an 'odor-eater'! I use after handling fish to wash hands and it's great!
Thank you for the kindness :) And for watching!
Just melt coconut oil and add you scent of choice and put in a spray bottle...if becomes solid, melt under warm water and spray...
I brought Shea butter for my hair but was using another natural product for it and decided to use the Shea butter for under my arms since I read its very moisturizing for the skin and I would break out so badly underneath them after shaving and OMG does it work!! I never would have thought I can't wait until I get back on my feet so I can try this! So tired of chemicals in my food hair beauty and body products. And as for the lemon it does work!! I've been using lemon and baking soda for the last week every day in the shower to actually lighten my under arms and I already see a change and when you said the lemon helps with odor I realized I have not been having odor problems and over the past two years that's become a problem for me lol. Great vid!! I wish I would have went natural with my hair years ago it really opens you up to a new world I'd all things natural for the mind body and spirit!!
Let me know how it worked out for you!
Thank you so much for watching :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! My little 4 year old will get a bit tart under the arms after a long day of running and playing. I noticed she is sweating under arms a bit now. This has been a life saver! I was so fearful of starting her on antiperspirants and deodorant with chemicals so young. I am at ease because I know exactly what is in it. She loves it and I am AMAZED at how well it works! I use it too!
I use bentonite clay, arrowroot, corn starch, tea tree oil. I work out and I still don't sweat. the clay is detoxing your underarms. I omit the baking soda because I shave almost everyday and it irritates my underarms. I hope you enjoy this recipe.
do you have the specific anount of each ingredient? please..
Kim Howell can you give measurements?
Kim Howell excellent recipe
I most definitely will. Thank you for watching :)
I've been using a mixture of ACV, baking soda, and coconut oil for a couple years now and it leaves me completeeelly odorless. I am definitely going to try this out though!
***** warning though depending on the amount of baking soda you use it can really irritate ya pits! Haha just made a new one after getting inspired from this video- coconut oil, benzonite clay, arrowroot powder, baking soda, and oil of choice...MY NEW JAMMM I SWEAR
My mother is 52 and she has been using lemon as her deodorant for the past 7 years! it didn't work for me but I'm definitely going to try to make my own deodorant based on the ingredients you shared. I also read recently that Coconut Oil mixed with Baking Soda is a good deodorant. Thanks for the tips! :-)
It's my absolute pleasure. Thank you for watching :)
Absolutely! Just adjust the measurements as needed. Arrowroot controls the wetness and the Baking Soda controls the odor.
You know it! :) I have a video in mind for an all natural paste and mouth wash! Thanks for watching :)
Right now I'm using a mixture of arrowroot, coconut oil and grape seed oil. This is day one (I made it last night) and I've got no order or sent whatsoever. I'm not wet and I'm loving this!
My absolute pleasure. Thank you for watching :)
Thank you for the love and for watching :)
This deoderant WORKS! It took me two attempts to make this properly. I had to leave out the baking soda because it irritated my skin. I love the Shea butter base. I stay dry and fresh. Plus, it washes off, unlike store bought stuff that discolours and cakes.
The organic is the cooked deodorant and the raw is the second lemon option. Thank you for the kindness and for watching!
Happy to hear that! Thanks for trying it :)
Thanks Fran for sharing "valuable" information. We are truly fortunate for people like you.
I've been using a mixture I just threw together one day, and it seems to be working pretty well. Surprisingly, it's quite similar to your recipe, Fran, except I use spearmint essential oil (Nice and cool feeling on the skin!), almond oil, shea butter, baking soda, and lavender essential oil.
Awesome video, thanks!
Hey, Fran, That t-shirt is all that and it looks so cute on you. I was reading some comments and the ones you've replied to and I've learned that the cornstarch may have been the reason why my skin did like a particular natural deodorant. Thanks. You're the best!!!!
b4 i saw ur videos.....i started my better life health kick.....love ur videos....very informative n inspiring....they encourage me to continue living a healthier life.
I'm happy you're finding it useful. Thank you for watching
You can use any essential oil you'd like! I just wanted to show the basic steps.
My butters are always in room temperature and i've never had any issues with grating them! Thank you for watching :)
I love the way you made your deo, but just to be more minimalist and simple I want to start using the second option. Can't wait to see how it goes.
because a lemon is much more simple than using the deodorant recipe, I use organic lemons. I LOVE IT!!! DEFINIETLEY LAST ALL DAY LONG, I am a health coach so I am involved in a lot of physical activity and exercise so the lemon has not let me down =))) BUT I will say that if you apply the lemon and it begins to sting and burn immediately rinse it off because lemons are very acidic and will burn you. a simply alternative is baking soda, I use this also. sprinkle a little bit in your palm and rub it on your underarm. a little goes a long way in my experience. THANKYOUUUU FRAN =DDD
Isn't it great and simple? I'm happy you tried it!
I'm happy it worked for you!
By far the best online video for making DIY deodorant! Thank you Fran!
Yay! I'm glad you're supporting their brand. Such sweet girls. And thank you for watching :)
seriously, I am SO GLAD I found you. You represent the ideal me
I'm learning more and more everyday, that mother nature has everything we need and even want when it comes to health and beauty.
Fran thank you so much for this! I have been disappointed by a lot of natural deodorants but didn't know how to make my own
You definitely can! I used arrowroot because it's a little less harsh for those with sensitive skin.
Definitely! I noticed lemon worked better on me than lime did.
Im gonna try these out because I have a four year old that gets musty from time to time. I've been looking for a natural alternative for her. Thanks Fran.
For the past couple of weeks I used a lemon and it kept me dry and odor-free all day. I loved it! I had never heard of using a lemon as deodorant :)
I just have to make sure its ORGANIC otherwise my skin will itch
Thank you so much for the love and inspiration :) Happy Holidays to you and yours!!!!
i feel so blesssed to have came across your channel seriously im all about being organic well at least trying hard to be and im on a curly hair journey lol your videos are wonderful please keep more coming !
Wow, that was a great presentation. And never knew that lemon works as deodorant. You learn something knew everyday.
Hey Fran, great vid! I've been making my own deodorant for me & my family for about 2years now. Takes me 10min to whip a batch. I'm lazy so no baking, heating or grating for mine but there are so many recipes out there, its great to see different options. I substitute Tapioca starch for baking soda. I love it, ran a 5k over the summer & stayed fresh. Recently, I just started swiping a mix of lavender and tea tree oil under my arms & its working great too. No darkness, no odor. : )
Wow that's amazing I never thought I could make my own deodorant, very creative heyfranhey
You are too kind! Thank you for watching and for the sweetness
thank you sooo much for responding to our request to make this video! this is great:)
Just made my first batch of the deodorant. I was able to get two containers made. They are in the fridge now. I'm so excited and for some reason I can't stop smiling about the fact I made it lol!
This is an awesome video!!!! I just recently decided I no longer wanted to use typical deodorant. I have purchased a bar & powder from Lush. I'm pretty satisfied, but not sold. After watching this video, I know I can make it myself and probably spend less than what I did at Lush! It's such an easy process!!!! Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to make this!!!
whether it works or not just the attempt is super impressive! Thanks
I so, appreciate you doing this, I agree with your sentiments reguarding the hazards of deodorant today. We have to be careful of what we put on the outside of our bodies; as to what we put in. This mix is so simple and to the point! Thanks for sharing this with us :)
I am so glad I started seeing your videos on tumblr. And I am super happy that I subscribed to your channel. Can't wait to start trying all of this!
That's what i'm here for :) Thank you for the love and for watching!
Thank you sooo much for sharing. I am on a journey to living a healthier life for me and my family and getting rid of all these unhealthy chemicals that are found in so much of the everyday products we use on our bodies and in our homes. So glad I found your channel. Your video was very informative and instructions easy to follow. Peace & Love & Bahamas Sunshine blessings to you! :)
That is really kind and inspiring of you to write. Thank you!
I'm wearing OPI "A Grape Fit". Thanks for watching :)
Y in the world did i take soo long to find u??? Such an inspriration!!! Thank you!!
Hey beautiful Pia! :) Arrowroot has a higher nutritional value (as far as minerals) and is more neutral on the skin than Corn starch (I have sensitive skin) so I prefer it!
Ahhhh...that's so awesome! :) Merry Christmas to you as well!!!
I like for my projects to feel store bought! :) Thanks for the love!
Omg I love your channel.. I'm slowly but surely going all natural in all aspects in my everyday life! Thank you so much!
I've watched many videos in the past thirty minutes and I think I'm in love with you. I'm a fan! Everything your doing that's natural and healthy, I'm doing! ;-)
I discovered your videos last week and I am really addicted!
I am going to try everything you are suggesting in your videos, Thank YOU! :)
LongHairDontCareLLC has suggested I check out your yt channel. all your videos share immense info and I greatly appreciate it. I am a cancer survivor., this is actually what pushed me toward organic remedies. I discontinued the use of conventional deodorants and began using lemon. I will say, the lemon does kill any body odor. However, I believe it caused my skin to whiten as well so I stopped using it. I definitely plan to try your recipe ASAP. Thank you so much
Of course I will be trying this as well and the lip balm & scrub, I love watching your videos I just get so excited about making my own products. I'm definitely getting my ingredients for everything next week.
Ahhh...Thank you for the love!!! And for watching :)
I love your videos !! I love diy and organic things Especially being a mom !! Keep them coming !
Started using the lemon this week, and it's holding up REALLY WELL. So surprised not joking.
I just found your videos and I love them. I have tried natural deodorant and at first it was great and the baking soda irritated my skin then I brought Toms! I am going to try yours next week and also try the lemons at night because I heard that it will help with darks skin. Love what your are doing!
Natural and organic DIY are awesome, so glad I found your channel. I would like to make more videos about natural products. My channel is in German and I started some weeks ago. One of my first videos was about ilive oil.
How long does it last? I made my deodorant 6 days ago with 5 ts of coconut oil,5 ts of corn starch and 2 of baking soda and I must say I'm in love,I'm never going to change it! I keep it in the fridge 'cause I don't want it to melt, even thought it doesn't but since summer is coming...( I did my coconut butter/oil at home,by myself and it's great, all you need is coconut wheat). I just don't know how long it will last...
You can use whichever butters/oils you'd like. The baking soda and arrowroot are the only essentials. I hope you love it :)
The most common recipe is baking soda, coconut oil and corn starch (or arrowroot)! It's awesome.
Fran...All I have to say is AWESOME!!! You are my absolute fav, no lie. Thank you for all your tip. I def will be trying them all
You are a genius! I've been making my own almost everything for years, but i could never eliminate store bought deodorant
You are a godsend! Thank you for all the work you do!!!!!! I want to be healthier and you truly motivate me to do it! Please write a book!!!!!!!! Id be the first to buy it! Thanx Fran! Sending love your way from Philly!
so excited about this... iwould love to try it one day, every now and then i notice irritation from using deoderant! thanks for posting an alternative to store bought deoderant!
Awesome! I've been looking for a natural deodorant! Im def trying this one!!
You're gonna love it! Let me know what you think :)
Awesome video Fran! I would have loved to see the finished product of the deodorant though like how it looked being twisted out your container after it solidified and how it looked applied to the skin ! I will be trying the lemon though for now just because it's quick and simple. Plus as a natural brightener I'm sure it handles any under arm discoloration was ease
Loving your informative videos and bubbly personality. I thank God for you and have learned so much from you. Peace & Blessing!
I just finish making mine. I can wait to try it out!
Using lemon as an deodorant actually works, I tested it out yesterday. I went a whole day using only lemon under my arms. I packed some regular deodorant just in case (can't smell at work lol). I had a very busy day: I worked out , was a little stressed at work, and did a Christmas wrapping marathon. After all of that , MY UNDERARMS DIDN'T STINK.
Thanks heyfranhey for the tip!
This looks like a great recipe. I think I shall try this in the next week or so!!! Man I love lavender!!!
Great video! Just well put together and thought out. Quality is great so are you and your gma!
It most definitely works!
