The way he treated me, the late night phone calls, making up our own language so nobody understood what we were saying...The silly little messages while he worked 12 hour shifts, the unlimited " i love you" reminders, the way i'd get so excited talking about you and telling everyone how funny and great you are. The way we just understood each other from the moment we met (9 years ago). It's also the way the sound of his voice stains the walls of my old room where we'd talk all night in bed and i cannot help but repeat it over and over again.
Everytime i hear this song, i can't help but cry. His name sounds just like "Kristen" so everytime i hear this, i feel like im singing it to him. It's going on 2 years since he passed away unexpectedly and all I have now are memories, pictures and the messages we've sent the past years. I hate how im slowly starting to forget bits of our last conversation and the tone of his voice.

My dad passed away in december 2019, i was 15, he was my hero, i remember listening to this song the first nights without him and crying all night long, and smelling his clothes and watching his pictures. Listening to this again is really painful. I was introduced to this song by a boy who sat next to me in class. We would listen to this song on repeat everyday and forget our problems and sorrows. Months go by and I confess that I’ve had feelings for him for a few weeks now. He confessed about his feelings as well. I met a woman two years ago during the start of the pandemic, we didn't really get along at first, but that all changed when we got to know each other. Turned out we had a lot in common. Last year, my Dad passed away. He had died of diabetes, as he was in a lot of pain also, had an eye surgery, he multiple problems. But I remember how when he'd complain about being lonely downstairs because he didn't have a room. So me or my Brother would just come downstairs and wait till he'd fall asleep. I remember when I used to come downstairs to him when I had headaches, and he'd help me out and care for me. They day he died was probably one of the worst days of my life. I became depressed for days and didn't come out of my room. But I eventually realized that he probably wouldn't want to me to be sad. I knew then he was in a better place, playing pool all he wants up in heaven. I still miss him, but eventually got over it. I love you Dad. ❤

In a weird way the vibe of this song reminds me of a dream I had a few years ago.
I was riding my bike home from school with two friends-friends by this point I hadn't seen in years in real life. We were riding home when, I guess, the dream became lucid. It was as if I was always there. as if that was my actual life. I remember looking over at my friends as I started to cry. and I mean ugly sobs. I just kept repeating that I missed them. I kept saying it over and over. What made it worse was when they looked at me, all confused. To reassure me, they were telling me that we'd always be friends, which in turn made me cry even more.
This song was really made for the hopeless romantics of this world. Every time I find myself in a deep depressive state or have extreme feelings of sadness or regret I listen to this song. I know every word by heart and I cry singing it. It makes me feel better and worse. Worse because I’ve never had the chance to love anyone like this man loves Kristen. Better because I have the hope I’ll find someone who will love me like he loves Kristen and I love him just as much. I can really feel that I sing “come right back” with such raw emotion, please whoever is meant for me in this life come right back to me. I miss you so much and I don’t even know who you are yet. Then I realized how lonely I was by myself so I snuck out of my house to listen to this exact song and cried all night out on the street.
