Tito’s is an institution here in L.A, but you have to not mind standing in a long line for hard shell shredded beef tacos and don’t mind paying extra for cheese and don’t mind the mild salsa. Personally I love those things lol, and I drink the salsa straight up.
I also venture over to Johnnie’s Pastrami across the parking lot, another local long time institution.

I sold my BBQ restaurant right before covid and run a food trailer in my semi retirement. I love the honest reviews, but have one suggestion. When something is bad please tell the owner or manager on the spot, if they are serious about their food they will understand your concerns. If they blow you off, then the place is a definite no go. I do give places 2nd chances....lol.
    Keep up the great videos.

My parents used to frequent this place in the 60’s it was where you went at night to grab a bite. They recently went back after moving away from Culver City for over 30 years. Moms said it was the same and reminded her of years back. The lines were always the same way from start to close. My dad was just happy to have a taco but still loves that place. This is a Culver City staple for the OG’s. Glad you got to try it for yourself.

Having grown up in Culver City, I know first hand the experience and the lines. It's been years since I was there, but they have been around for nearly 65 years, so people DO enjoy it. A lot! The taco you ate looks exactly how they've always served them since I was just a kid. They are not "authentic" street style tacos, and never have claimed to be, but they are authentic Culver City tacos, and they are a Los Angeles County staple! You don't stay open that long for no reason. The food is bomb. The burrito to get is the all meat burrito, by the way, or would at least be my suggestion. Tito's is world famous.
You missed out on a chance to go near the hood spot and try El Abajeno, though. It they're still open then I would definitely recommend trying them out next time your on the West (best) Coast! Go for the burritos there, or try several items. It's actually right near the projects not far from where you filmed this. If you go to the East Side try out El Tepeyec, and if you go to the DTLA area, definitely hit up the taqueria called La Naranja (if still opened). Obviously King Taco in the DTLA location, also.
Glad you stepped to a place I know of firsthand. Safe travels, Daym, and God bless!

I remember walking home from school and being able to get a couple tacos at decent prices everyday and now they're just taking advantage of their popularity and over pricing everything and catering to people who can afford it or to tourists who are willing to pay the price just to say they've been there. I usually pour their salsa in the taco and its good in my opinion :) Yeah it used to be cheaper and of course their prices are now "gauged " due to the economy but its still worth it for the food. The line is usually long but you get your food within 10-15 mins. You can also order at the windows outside and inside, Im assuming you had to order inside due to the rain or maybe they change the way to order there. Perhaps those individuals that rated low on Tito tacos had better tacos somewhere else but I always liked Tito tacos. The place is well known and is usually busy. I am glad you enjoyed the food, you should try the taco next time with the salsa :)

Hey Daym Drops!! I have been eating Tito's tacos for probably 30 years now. Are they the best tacos in LA? Nope.. but what they offer is something unique and is almost a landmark taco joint.. they were supposed to give you a cup of their salsa that you can put on the taco or burrito. It's pretty much very tomato like but for some reason I keep coming back for more. I think that braised beef has a lot to do with it. Glad to see you in my hood. Man literally right around the corner and two doors down is Johnnie's pastrami. Now that place is bussin'!!

Taco Bell is a pre made ground beef mixture and boiled/heated in bags at each store, not fresh shredded beef … and their corn shells are pre made like you buy in the grocery store in a box, not a freshly fried shell like Tito’s. Same with the chips, they’re freshly fried at Tito’s.

In Buffalo, NY where I live it's difficult to find legit, tasty Mexican food. There's a couple small ma and pop places that do a decent job but for the most part, our Mexican food here sucks. I prefer to make my own as it tastes way better. Even the packaged taco kits you can buy at the supermarket turn out better than what most of our local restaurants here can make. It's quite pitiful tbh, wish we had California style Mexican food here.

Foodie born and raised in Vegas right here, almost second generation. The Strip mostly sucks for food (and $$$), so if you want the good Vegas food, you gotta get off the Strip. For tacos, Taco El Gordo is a MUST TRY. Go with someone to stand in multiple lines (each line gets you different types of tacos). Street Tijuana style, some say the best they've had. Try to get the location on Charleston, not the one on Las Vegas BLVD if you can. Get the Adobada for sure, rest is up to you.
For pizza, try Monzu. A little fancy and up scale (you don't need to wear a suit or something, so not THAT upscale), but they use a 300 year old Italian sourdough culture and make some killer Roman style pizza. Get the Mortadella pizza and for appetizer get the burrata bruschetta. Cocktails and wine are both great here.
For Chinese food, try China Mama. It's a wait to get in, and can't make reservations so try to go on off hours. get the crispy beef.
For a good off Strip scene if you're interested, check out the Arts District. Esther's Kitchen serves some intensely decedent Italian (get same day reservations), lots of good bars and music on the weekends. Jamyland for cocktails and super good Jamaican food. Velveteen for cocktails. Ser Veh Zah and Silver Stamp for beer. CraftHaus, Able Baker for breweries. All walkable.

The food doesn't look all that different now, in your vid than it did back then. But if you ordered outside, you picked it up at the same window.
