  • We were told that it would be basically impossible for a sailboat to transit the New Jersey ICW from Manasquan Inlet to Atlantic City, but a broken autopilot and unfavorable weather had us trying!

That's brilliant. It'd be like me starting out by saying this hangar has a maximum width of 40 feet - but my wingspan is 41 feet, Lets seee if I can pull my plane in it or if I'm going to crack my wings in half when they hit the side of the hangar..

So you did or did not stop in Beach Haven? (LBI). Also- it sounded like y’all were implying there were not any anchorages or mooring balls off of LBI? Is that right or did you mean something different?

We did stop at beach haven at the beach haven yacht club. The only anchorage we were able to use on LBI was near surf city just north of the Rt 72 bridge. And I didn’t see any moorings that weren’t privately owned in that area. There is another anchorage north of surf city at the Barnegat inlet that looks promising but if you are continuing on the ICW it’s a bit off the track. I think we might have been able to make a few other spots work if we didn’t need to get the dog ashore or had an outboard for the dinghy at the time.

@@AbroadReachTravel -- I didn’t see any footage of the yacht club- was it nice? Amenities? I’ve heard it’s feast or famine out that way-- eg super expensive and plush or a dirt hole, and they REALLY should not be charging people for “this”... lol...

@@syexplorarconmigo8853 sorry I don’t have footage 🤦🏻‍♀️. It is pretty middle of the road. The least expensive of the marinas we used in NJ but they were offering an off season rate since it was after Labor Day. The bathroom and shower stalls are tiny (but clean), laundry facilities were clean and nice but only two of each. It is an easy walk to a grocery store and quite a few restaurants. And the beach is also only a few blocks. The WiFi was pretty speedy. But there wasn’t much else in terms of amenities. I wouldn’t put it in the category of rip off, but it certainly isn’t a bargain 😊
