Love the fact that they start to open up in The Bar, because bars are obviously known as a place where you can open up and let yourself go. Also, Ragatha and Jax learning to not always force themselves into feeling certain emotions.

I love how a bunch of Gooseworx's Tumblr secrets came to light, like the fact that Jax hates corn, and that one maid outfit someone drew him in. For some reason I thought this episode was the one where he does the horrible thing that makes us hate him or something...
This episode was jam packed with juicy lore tidbits. Kinger briefly having sanity again under the desk, what everyone did IRL before the circus, the fact Jax had a friend that abstracted. This was awesome! Massive props to the animation team for making, like, a million set pieces and backgrounds that will probably never be used again.

Ragatha growing up with an abusive mom is something I actually never thought id hear of, and zooble being a tattoo and bartender. I absolutely adore the past and lore of the people it’s crazy how amazing glitch and gooseworx can make character development on the next level, super excited to see the next episodes!

Huh. I feel so sorry for Ragatha.
It kinda makes sense considering how ragatha's actions are in the series. She gives people pleaser vibes from when she got drunk on stupid sauce and just trying to keep things happy so others don't get upset. When Jax bullies and she scolds him it could be her projecting what she probably would wanna do to her mom but never had the courage to. And the blow up she had when she thought she had a go ahead makes sense. Putting on a happy bit and being told you can let go can make that bottle burst vs a slower release

It reminds me a lot of Loona. someone else who was heavily judged by her appearance and relationship, but when everyone found out how horrible her past was, they started to realize she acts like that because she's afraid people will keep judging her and push her away. Viv even confirmed it when explaining why she beat up Blitz in the Seeing Stars episode, "She had a lot of pent up anger and feelings of betrayal." meaning (and reaffirming) Blitz was in the wrong to let Moxxie convinced him to dump Loona.
I don’t think people mention it enough but I adore Gangle and Zooble’s interactions throughout this episode, the way Zooble always asks for Gangle’s opinion or helps her to feel more comfortable with expressing her interests really warmed my heart.

Neat little detail I loved is how Zooble knows that Jax is referencing Breaking Bad during the bar scene, but Ragatha doesn’t, most likely because she’s been in the Circus for *that long*. Breaking Bad got super popular during the third and fourth seasons in 2010 - 2012, meaning at minimum Ragatha has been trapped in the Circus for 15 years. And Kinger has been here longer. That is horrifying
Edit: I don’t think some of you realise just how big Breaking Bad was at the height of its popularity. It was basically the OG Squid Game, you could not go *anywhere* without hearing at least something about the main premise.

The more you really think about it, the more Ragatha having a toxic relationship with a parent makes total sense. She’s constantly nice all time, so she probably saw the way her mom treated others and thought “Oh crap I don’t wanna be that to others I gotta be this angel!”. And also, she constantly seeks the approval of others because of her constant positivity, which most likely resembles the approval she never got from her mom (As she stated she blamed her for things). She probably just doesn’t want to be what her mom was to her for anyone.

classic trauma response poor ragatha
We learned a lot of things about Jax this episode. Ragatha said he used to have friends, and during the Intermission, we see Jax stop at a door with a crossed out frog character on it. It was also hinted that maybe Ragatha used to be a comfort to Jax, but after a while, her toxic positivity started to make him hate her. Also, apparently Jax had a tail at some point, but it was removed without him noticing (maybe by Caine?). We also learned a lot about the others before they got to the circus too. Also Caine getting jealous of the others finding happiness in the things he didnt create gives us an insight into his drive and mindset. I love it!

It also hinted at Jax having some complex about his gender expression.
He seems to want really badly to be perceved as masculine and be very embaressed about the idea of him enjoying corssdressing...
Edit: Some replies really focuses on the maid dress part. Honestly that wasn't the main thing I thought about. This thought mostly cane from the small comment about "His ears and tail are peak masculinity".
This can be me being bigender AFAB, but I don't see why would he need to add that adjective, if in past that wasn't a problem for you? Especially since his design is very obviously male-coded even in the cartoon style of his design.
The maid thing was kinda strawberry on cake with this thought (I know it's not a saying, it's international). Not necessery, but make it look more interesting.
Edit2: Actually there is one more thing - Jax in general is very insecure, deals with it by being mean to others and shows his true self only through thoes small comments.

It screams projecting, but it appears only in small moments just to be cut very quickly and do another joke (mostly coming from him). That's why thoes small moments and comments light a lamp for me.
The whole tail thing actually made me think about the ”Jax npc” theory, what if he was replaced by an incomplete npc, one without a tail, and he doesn’t even know it, so the real jax had a tail at some point, but lost it when he was replaced. Its also weird how Caine can change him to be vegan. the episode also proves that Caine is fine making copies of the characters too. And maybe Gangle didn’t get an opposite opponent because she’s already kind of split in two inside… i really love this show xD

I love the detail of Jax looking away when Ragatha mentions her mother. It creates an interesting parallel between the two. One handles their trauma through an optimistic attitude, the other handles it through pushing everyone away.

I love how all the voice lines in this one feel so much more casual and very unscripted. Not like scripted lines are bad, but this one really just feels like a bunch of people talking, idk if I’m explaining it well but I like it

Well yes, and in this chapter there are actually many silences.
I mean, the chapter is very calm and the dialogues are more casual, more so in the part where they are in peace in the forest and it happens about Jax's friend.
It makes the interactions more genuine.
It feels like they are just engaging in actual conversations so it is absolutely lovely indeed!
Ok, I haven't seen anyone talk about this but, in Ragatha's backstory, she mentions her mom being awful towards her, so she acts like a good supportive mother figure to Pomni to make sure that she (Ragatha) doesn't go down the same path as her mother. Also in the white house right before Gangle blows up she reaches for Pomni.
I absolutely loved Jax's facial expressions when Ragatha was talking about his lost friend and how his eyes got all big when she apologized. Such an amazing detail that really expressed the gravity of that situation.

One of the things I think is more significant than at first glance is Jax's reactions to him not having a tail and becoming vegan. From episode one Jax has shown he has more of an understanding of the circus than others, like him having keys to all the rooms, and a nonchalant attitude to dangerous scenarios, but now not only does he realize he knows less than he thought, now he has no idea how much of him has been altered since he arrived.

Yeah. Also he is really unnerved when Cain do something with their mental side.He doesn't like that Cain can make him vegan or "training" in the fast food episode, and that others doesn't seem to think serious about that. He is right about that though
yeah the digital circus is horrific. Jax’s detachment, essentially treating it more like a video game than a reality he’s trapped in, is clearly his coping mechanism, but it can’t protect him from everything.
That honestly makes me question if Jax is even the original instance of Jax anymore.

I loved how this episode highlighted the way Jax and Ragatha are foils for each other. They both have trauma they hide with toxic personas, but while Ragatha values her feelings less than everyone else, Jax just acts like he doesn't give a shit. Opposite reactions to the same problem.

I just noticed when Jax was talking to Pomni under the stars, it feels different because she's not overly insane, optimistic, annoyed or scared. She's able to express her emotions and opinions, even asking Jax directly if he doesn't have friends before Ragatha pushed it down.
She didn't scold him or ignore him, giving agreements to some of his points and telling him how he didn't have a tail when she came in
In return, he's able to soften for her and lower his guard

I like how Pomni was relatively stable throughout all of this, easily the most stable we've seen her so far. She's just comfortable when things aren't weird and are relatively normal.

I like how jax and pomni are just... 'real' to each other, the way they talk to each other isn't like the other casts do. The others are too animated, too miserable, too happy but pomni feels like she's just there, bare and exposed and REAL. Maybe that reminds jax of a distant past or maybe that energy of pomni being real just makes him feel more comfortable

I just realized that in the Stargazing Adventure was the first actual time Pomni seemed truly happy. It was probably how chill and calming it was then the usual wacky chaotic adventures that have left her traumatized. This explains that Pomni seems to like things that are mostly comfortable and normal like activities.
It makes me wonder if that one was her suggestion; she’s the only one that didn’t seem to have a showcased suggestion (besides Kinger), and that adventure is also the only one we don’t actually know who made. It never gets mentioned.

When Jax said "if you tell someone they're loved and appreciated all day, it just kind of loses all meaning", we see that sorta being true in this episode. Pomni seemed fascinated when hearing that Jax might care what Gangle likes or the fact that he apologised for the earlier adventure. Ragatha has apologised for things and shown that she cares since meeting Pomni yet her kindness doesn't seem to hold much meaning since she's giving it all the time.

I have a theory:
Maybe because of how he is, he never said that to his friend before they abstracted. He’s annoyed because he doesn’t like being vulnerable or being serious about things, but at the same time there’s a guilt that lingers because he knows he could’ve.
I just realized that when Pomni mentions Kinger's wife, no one knows about it. This means that Kinger has been in the circus for a WHILE, A LONG WHILE, even more than Ragatha. That also means he never got the chance to tell anyone about it, meaning he had to wait so long to finally open up to someone about it (Pomni).
AND! He also doesn't really remember it because he's in his clearest state of mind when he's only in the dark (which is why he has his little pillow fort :3)

I really loved the scene where Pomni says, 'I can think for myself.' to Ragatha and Jax. Sorta makes me notice how Rag kinda presses her and Pomni's friendship sometimes. Also, Rag having an abusive mother makes ALOT of sense.

Also much like her explicitly stating her age like her pointing out she isn't a child in Episode 2. Through telling Ragatha she's a grown adult who can make her own decisions and doesn't need to be babied, the show's also telling the fandom she's an adult since back in the days of the pilot Jax calling her "kid" once led to some age discourse.
I love seeing Jax slowly expressing his feelings after every adventure. It makes him look actually human in my eyes.

In the bar scene, after Ragatha finishes talking about her mom, you can see that Jax looks sad for ragatha, and then he decides to break the tension of the momento by talking to Kinger, and making the moment less embarrasing for Ragatha, brilliant.

That final scene in the episode completely reframes how you see Ragatha. Throughout the episode, she’s doing what she always does being helpful, upbeat, keeping things from falling apart. She’s the one trying to maintain some kind of structure in the chaos. But as everything unfolds, you start to notice she’s on the outside looking in. Zooble and Gangle have that clear, easy friendship. Kinger and Pomni are forming a connection. Even Jax, who spends most of the episode mocking people, ends up having a strange moment of understanding with Pomni by the end. Meanwhile, Ragatha’s left behind. You can feel her trying to hold onto that bond she thought she had with Pomni. Earlier in the season, Ragatha was the first to really reach out to her, trying to be a friend. But in this episode, that effort feels one-sided. Pomni doesn’t really confide in her or look to her for support anymore and that final shot makes it clear Ragatha sees it. She watches Pomni and Jax talk, and she doesn’t interrupt or say anything. She just quietly realizes where she stands. This episode doesn’t make Ragatha the focus, but it uses the ending to show how isolated she’s become. It’s subtle, but that’s what makes it hit harder. She’s surrounded by people, yet she’s not part of anyone’s inner circle. It’s not loud or dramatic it’s just sad. And if you’re paying attention, it says everything about where her character is emotionally right now.

Great Analysis, yes, when you see Ragatha she has this upbeat personality, yet she is sometimes like an hypocrite because she says or talks mean things about people without facing them really how they are, she tries to be nice because she forces herself to be good, but she inside might hate a lot of things but she doesn't really open herself to let people really know her, so that's why also she is in nobody's inner circle too, Jax said something that is true on this episode, saying you love everyone and good things only makes lose its meaning

In ep 4 when Ragatha got the “stupid sauce” In her eye she mentioned a lot of things that at the time made no sense. But after re-watching the episode after hearing about Ragatha’s mother they make a lt of sense. She comments on how the relationship of the gloink queen and her children Is beautiful, says she misses her horses (Since she was a farm girl) and she says she’s hurt enough with the dancing lessons, tea parties and etc. Goose really did a great job with this one

i love pomni and jax becoming like buddies. and jax actually having emotions sometimes instead of just unregelated chaos. feels nice and its way more fun seeing him happily talking to pomni then anyone else honestly because he is the only one not depressed or faking it all the time basically. even though he most likely has his own struggles.

I love seeing the character development with jax! He reminds me a lot of my brother
The dynamic in the show is that jax acts like an asshole because he wants to be liked but not seem weak. he was most likely raised in a household that was very much about masculinity and he was probably a farmer since he hates corn. Ragatha is allways postive and kind because she wants people to be as nice to her as she is trying to be to them because she never got the love she needed from her mom so now she is making up for it. she is probably very mentally in battle in hiding her true feelings in the attempt to not make people leave her because she doesnt want to be abandoned/not cared for. which is also why in the ending we see jax walk away with pomni as they are actually getting closer and he is opening up to her while hiding his feelings around others. and also why ragatha in the end walks away alone unsure of who to be with as she feels that she is not getting the care she gives back and it is eating her overthinking what others think of her all the time. her walking away alone being her not being sure of who to be with anymore because she feels like all bridges are somewhat burnt and she cant relate to anyone anymore since everyone has something to give to the other except her. And she is laughing about things that deeply hurt her like being left to die when she got attacked in the hallway. she was probably pretty scared by that and that is why she hasnt been with pomni as much as in the beggining. jax can be himself around pomni because she is so based in reality she can relate and tell things as it is and not fake being happy which he hates when everyone does. The other team in the game is their mirroring emotions that they are not showing. pomni being really mean and swearing being why she finds what jax does secretly funny and jax being actually really shy and wanting everyone to be kind to eachother. which is why he hates himself because he doesnt like it showing his true emotions. and ragatha being really mean for no real reason is her pent up rage inside and how she actually feels for the others. The furture we get into the series the more backstories we are gonna get and the more we are gonna see from the peoples pasts. like jax's friend that was a frog seemingly being corrupted and he still inside mourns losing his only friend in that place.

Thank you glitch for providing this entertainment for me because whenever I hear the circus members voices in videos I light up and smile. This series is so fun to watch keep up the good animation!
Honestly, the way Jax talks about Ragatha at 8:52 makes me think he USED to find comfort in Ragatha when he first got into the digital circus, but as time went on, that comfortable feeling he had with Ragatha disappeared. Like Gangle said, it’s hard to tell when Ragatha is genuine.

I really like the detail where each episode talks about different characters problems ! for example, this episode was about mainly Ragatha ! episode 4 was Gangle. episode 3 was Kinger. episode 2 was (I don't really remember), and episode 1 was Pomni ! I really like that, Glitch ! keep up the work, and I absolutely LOVED The Gaslight District ! c: - (you should 100% make episode 6 about Jax's issues ! I think that'd be awesome !!)
I got the feeling that the reason pomni and jax managed to get along is that that pomni hasn’t adopt a coping mechanism yet and therefore is genuine, she isn't insane nor faking her personality and doesn’t have anything against jax neither, making interact with her feel more "natural" in someway. Its clear that jax natural personality isn't mean, that just his coping mechanism therefore I think he misses having organic and normal conversations from time to time with someone sane, geniune and that doesn't dislike him.

Plus like also it does suck when you are more open since people say so, and then people instantly look at you for doing it. Like I do feel she does deeply care for everyone, especially Pomni and maybe in the past Jax, like she still probably cares for him but something happened that really fucked both of them up.

i think that if they became friends jax would get a bit chiller and nicer with his jokes, and pomni might be a bit more confident and less of a people pleaser. like they could rub off on eachother in a positive way if they became friends. jax could stand to take some stuff a little more seriously, and pomni could stand to chill out a bit

I think pomni being friends with Jax is a bad thing. Jax is just generally a bad person and always negative. He made absolutely no effort to be friends with pomni and yet still was. Ragatha made a big effort to be friends with her and was still kind of rejected as pomni moves closer to Jax. Added with the fact that ragatha isn't good friends with any of the other people there, it looks like from her perspective that no one likes her. This can lead to all kinds of bad things so no pomni being friends with Jax is bad

I actually really love the end idea of exploring toxic positivity because everyone knows "Negativity is bad so don't be a negative Neal" but forced positivity is also extremely uncomfortable to deal with as well since you cannot be a shoulder to cry on with that mindset if everything is okay, hince Pomni growing closer to Jax bit by bit. I love the idea as well that Ragatha is probably struggling with the idea that despite acting like how a good friend should (Happy, comforting, encouraging e.c.t.) it pushes people like Pomni away as well as leaves her alone in the very end (Not to mention this is probably caused by trauma). I genuinely enjoy that message that sometimes despite you doing everything you should for some people, sometimes people just don't click with each other.

Slice of Life enjoyers are celebrating right now, considering that the audience of this episode enjoys this (because if I had to guess, Digital Circus is more of an adventure and somewhat of a psychological horror).

I like how opposites are like the central theme in many ways.

3-Zooble on an adventure
4-Kane making the characters happy
5-The characters bullying Jax
6-Well, all the characters, literally, on the contrary.
Is Kane trying to make them happy? It felt more like a defensive attempt to make them all want his adventures, maybe by exhausting the suggestion box. Especially when he forcibly ended the stargazing adventure after seeing everyone happy. And the bar when everyone was trying to connect.
And Gangle actually having a bit of a good time
It’s less of a theme and more that we’ve already heavily established the characters and are just seeing more of them. If they just keep doing exactly what we know them to do, it gets stale. So they need to expand to become more than their shticks.
PLUS the title of the episode being an opposite: "Untitled", what an interesting theme!

As far as they knew, Caine couldn't alter their minds directly, yet here Jax reflexively says to hold the egg whites to play into the added trait Caine gave him. Really cool!
Personally I think it’s more for the AI theory because he wasn’t supposed be able to do it to the people
It seems Caine cannot alter their minds under his own will, he’s all programming. The potential is there, but they don’t happen unless someone issues the command.
@@CassieRamos-v5b I think this episode made it pretty clear they're all AIs, since Caine called them that explicitly to Bubble... he might have been joking/screwing around, but it seemed legit...
