Back in the 90's an older retired guy invited me along to shoot a patch. It was a great time exploring for me and he found a decent nugget in quartzite. About three weeks went by and he really wanted me to come along again. That time he found another nice nugget early on and offered his new GM for me to try and he took over with his older heavy ML. Damn he nailed a nice second nugget while I struck out. He really encouraged me, kept calling, leaving more and more invitations to shoot the patches more often. Sometime later after two or three years he gifted me a machine and let me know, " You're a very lucky person". I found my first nugget with that machine.
Hey Chris! I'm heading to Missoula Montana next month to visit an old friend and we're going prospecting up in the mountains. I'm going to take my gear and all the advice and knowledge I've gained from watching your videos the past few weeks. Prospecting has always been a bucket list dream of mine since I was a kid and also I live in Ohio and there isn't enough gold here to make it a worthwhile hobby. Anyways, I appreciate all your efforts to help us find success. Ill tell you next month if I find anything! Happy prospecting!!!
Great vid like always thanks ,i love my 7000 but i seem to have more luck and can swing for longer when patch finding with my gpx5000 with nugget finder evo 14/9 coil ,very light 7000 will clean out patch after ,that works for me 7000 is fatiguing to me . appreciate your vids thanks from Australia
Chris..thank you for doing a 7000 video! Please do more of them. I hunt with this detector and really enjoy watching others over here in the US hunt with them. Most videos with the 7000 are from Australia which is fine but I really want to see more local stuff. THANKS
Chris, thank you for all you do. How deep will the 7000 detect a 1oz nugget, and a 1 lb nugget? And how deep will a Gm1000 detect these same nuggets? Thank you.
It is not a simple question and depends on a number of factors. Watch my video on how deep a metal detector can see: ruclips.net/video/SD3cSkeikto/видео.html
see if you can get some one to lend you the gpx 6000 very light. or the equinox 800 ,900. ,manticore. ,i have a equinox 700 swinging it ,it will sound off on my sand scoop like 2 feet from it ,with the 11" coil. horse around. ,you have gold. all 4 i mentioned are very light. just making a suggestion. hope you have a good day.
GG my friend - I am not a metal detector dealer who has all models in stock. I have a number of detectors that I bought. I don't need to buy all of them (and I cant afford it either!).
in your book you talk about using large coil in the area that is mostly hunted .is possible if i buy 19 inch coil for gpz to bring more gold missed by 14 inch
Sorry - I get quite a few people every day who want me to ID their rock and mineral photos. I do not offer a mineral ID service, mostly because it’s not as easy as you think. Usually, minerals cannot be identified from just a picture (same thing for metals - there are loads of alloys, both man made and natural). Please watch my videos on how to Identify minerals for yourself. Part 1 can be found here: ruclips.net/video/MpkW58ZeQlc/видео.html and Part 2 can be found here: ruclips.net/video/zOWo49X90gA/видео.html and Part 3 can be found here: ruclips.net/video/_ab5NngRlVw/видео.html
Yes it has paid for itself, but if you have very limited experience and knowledge, don't expect to just walk out and start digging loads of nuggets. Like I say in the videos, its a skill to be learned. I don't own a 6000, so I cannot comment on that.
@@ChrisRalph you are very persistent and have tenacity. Those two qualities have taken you far master! I have detected off and on for close to 50 years. I know that relation ship with mastering your detector. It takes time and work. .
Chris have you ever crushed up hot rocks? I crushed a few and found small gold in several of them. I used to just toss them back but now I hold on to them and crush them to see if any gold is in them. I'm by no means saying every hot rock has gold and I don't always get gold in every hot rock I find but it does happen to me. Has this ever happened to you?
chris .there is big rock i have come across while metal detecting using GPZ 7000 .when i put the coil over it it makes alot of noise .but the center of rocks doesn't have noise and when i break its parts the smaller part doesn't produce any sounds .how can i test if its hot rocks or its cointain some treasure
Hi Chris, I Always like your videos, Thank You for making them and sharing with us. I'm wondering if I may have met you at gold seekers in Paradise when Gary Connors and I were partners. anyway I would like to go to AUSTRALIA to test a machine I am building specifically for AUSTRALIA, have you been down under ? I had claims in Alaska that produce Great gold. I like the Mining Journal= the who's who of prospecting. Best Regards.
I've never spoken to or attended a prospectors club meeting in Paradise, CA. So it must not have been me. I've prospected in Australia, but it was a decade ago. Best of luck to you.
You did it Chris, you did it. This time I'll remember it 😁 . So no more comments from this peanut gallery about not remembering you finding gold with the camera on. And to think you did it just for little old me 😂
I had already filmed this when you made the previous wiseacre comment - this video was already almost finished - I just needed to clean the one nugget that was coated in iron oxides. Soaking to clean it took about 10 days.
I appreciate your interest, but I do not offer any services for personal training, consulting or advisement. I get many such requests and simply do not have time to help all who ask. I have many business and family commitments and simply don't have the time available. I do wish you the best of luck, but I am sorry that I cannot offer any help on that level.
Yes, Ohio has gold. Not loads and loads, but some. There are prospecting clubs there (find them with google). Be sure to watch my video on Midwest gold at: ruclips.net/video/lJoRt5Un9SE/видео.html

Sounds are different for each target. Size of the target and depth of the target matters and helps determine sound. Since gold, lead, iron trash and other potential targets can be of any size from small to large, what you can say for sure by listening to the sound is limited.
@@ChrisRalph that's what I was thinking, the grounds kinda hot (alot of mineralization) but is known to have streaks of fine placer, I'd like to run my puffer where everybody hasn't been digging so I'm thinking I'll have to find a patch first.
Oh ive found a pocket of rust that sounds good but when it is dug up the rust falls apart and the sound goes away. I mention it to newbie detectorists.
I thank you again for being real. I know a newbie to detecting who wants to find gold with detector. I told him you just picked one most difficult thing to do with a detector. I sent your link to him. Gotta start somewhere

Its a skill and a skilled and experienced guy will almost always do much better than a new guy. Glad you stuck with it to learn.
Hey Chris, Excellent video ! Patch hunting is so exceedingly difficult. A little luck is certainly welcome. 👍👍⛏
You have to keep at it and not give up. If you stay with it long enough you will find one.
Adams got some shinny. He's been patient and knows that it can pay off😉👍

Nice two pieces !!!! I like the look of the dirt there !!!!
Should have been here this weekend - back up in that same general area.
Great info and what great finds! Always encourages me to get out there. Thanks Chris!
You bet!
Those fires made it easy to prospect, cleared everything out.
Yes, they did, but in a few years the old tree trunks will start falling down and roads open now will get blocked.

I will do another 7000 video!
Always like the videos, very informative 👍
Glad you like them!
Hi Chris. I'd love to see you do a comparison on the gpz7000 and sdc2300 . Thanks
They are very different detectors with different capabilities.

Hi Chris! I think nuggets make a distinctive sound in scoop.
I've dug many thousands, and you cannot tell by sound gold from lead. You can perhaps tell gold from iron by sound, but its not 100% certain.
The ground noise gets me all the time. I wonder what brought in the wire? Glad you got some color.
Thanks!
real nice Chris!! congrats on the vid! cool stuff!
Thanks for watching
I bought the book. Really enjoy your videos. Cheers!
Awesome, thank you!
Chris thank u a lot I plan to buy the gpz7000
Sounds great.
Well done happy days

It’s not luck if you have a plan and it pays off. It’s success.
That would mean that if I had a plan and it didn't work it was failure!
@@ChrisRalph yes, it’s not good luck or bad luck.😁 not successful, would be less harsh,
in your book you talk about using large coil in the area that is mostly hunted .is possible if i buy 19 inch coil for gpz to bring more gold missed by 14 inch
It is possible, but there is no guarantee that it will work.

did you already talk about your 7000 setting some where?
I need to talk about that more and will in a video soon to be released.
Can i ask you if that detector has paid for its self? Money wise ? Is it much better than the 6000? There is a learning curve on that one also .

Yes, I did a whole video focused on that - turning rocks to gold.
Great question and i didn't t know that some hot rocks have gold in them.

learn to recognize the hot rocks as they usually have a similar appearance. Break a few open if you need to - if you dont see gold, its just a rock.
Use a VLF metal detector in “discrimination mode”, look at the digital numbers to identify a hot rock ‘or’ gold.
Have you used the GPZ 7000 in hard rock detecting?
Yes, I have a number of times. But a very sensitive detector like the GM 1000 is actually better. There is also often loads of trash in mine dumps.
@@ChrisRalph I have a Goldmonster 1000. I'm interested in punching deep into the ribs of a mine.

Finding a 20oz patch on virgin ground, with no real history of gold, was/ is the highlight of my prospecting adventure so far....also with the GPZ
A 20 ounce patch is a nice find!
Great vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
what is the causes of ground noise
Minerals in the soil and rocks which contain iron as part of the mineral.
Sigh... at 0:38 we have Chris Ralph "Progfessional" Prospector
Sorry everyone, Sorry about that...
Perhaps you have a hearing problem......

Depends on the conditions of the ground where you are detecting, and I'd use the larger coil.
