Those Brylcream days really do seem so long ago! Thank’s for heaps of laughter Sir Les and (Lady Gwen) :-)

Brilliant. He inhabits Les so completely that everything he says or does seems real, present, in the moment and completely off the cuff.

He was also a legend of saving heritage buildings in Camberwell Vic Australia. I met him there in a cape and black fedora style hat lol. He was the nicest bloke you could meet and asked about me a lot - humble in his quiet confidence I thought, and a man of the people... or an understanding at the very least.

Russ Hinze, only with talent. Hinze, called the Minister for everything - Gambling, Police, Roads, all the portfolios with the best corruption potential - was an obese toad who died before he could face the music for his corruption. I loathed the prick and Sir Les is the best revenge.
It wasn’t just petty corruption, Hinze was all in with a bunch of poundShop mafia who, along with their Police enforcers, ran Brisbane after 10pm. He certainly made a ton out of prostitution (illegal at the time) and illegal betting. I’ve not heard anything about him being involved with the drugs trade but the smell was all around him. The fellas who ran the brothels that paid for much of Hinze’s lifestyle were certainly drug dealers, Hapeta I can guarantee. The Bellino’s most likely and the Queensland Police (which included a certain Peter Dutton) were the biggest and most violent drug dealers in Queensland at the time. Honest police were hounded out of the service and occasionally murdered if they became inconvenient. Sir Les may appear larger the life but in every way except for talent and his rancid charm he was like Hinze. Only less corrupt and venal, if that’s possible.
