- Backtesting Order Blocks on the AUDJPY for the timeframe of Jan 2021 to Feb 2021, using the 4H and 15M timeframes.
I reveal the full Order Block Strategy for the medium timeframes as TradingView wouldn't enable me to drop to the 5m or 1m. This is suitable for someone who works full time, but still has access to their phone to execute trade orders.
In this video, you'll see ALL of my emotions when backtesting; an area where I get completely confused (as many of you will do at times), and where I strip the strategy right back down to basics to regather my bearings.
I don't trade AUDJPY, but after this random month of backtesting, I'll be adding it back to my list. A phenomenal result by the end of the month with quite a few good opportunities missed.

You gotta be kidding me with those entries. The first 30 mins I thought it was just another snooze fest. Then he starts systematically taking that Sweep CHOCH 25% entry at 4h supplies and the moves are RIDICULOUS. It just gets insane the last hour.

Tempted to do a few different things. Including Bitcoin, Doge, Crude Oil, Wheat etc as well - just for fun, but using the same strategy. Would any of that be useful?
U got a new sub mate, proof that your system works, i have noticed you as well as many other supply and demand traders tend to target supply zones as their zone of interest alot more than demand zones. I do find it easier to see CHOC from supply zones, is this your reason?

I think in this video predominantly there was a MTF bear trend, with an overall HTF uptrend, but naturally I'm a bear trader as I see patterns easier when shorting. I'll occasionally flip the chart upside down but gradually improving that element of trading. Thanks again so the kind comment mate - really hope my videos provide value

Thank you for the kind comment. I think you're referring to the inside bar. I just use an indicator to highlight them. Depending on where they're located, I believe them to hold a lot of trapped orders / pending orders waiting to be released so a realistic place to look for bounces from

Some of the trades you did take I was a bit confused on how you do your targeting. Do you mind explaining why you chose those targets. I understand by some orderblocks however there were some other orderblocks of which you chose not to do.

Thank you. Ther'es a list of confluences, but sometimes it can just look right or wrong based on experience. I try to be as systematic as possible but order flow will sometimes become more important
I just get to know your channel today. The way you present and chart looks simple and clean. I also note that for some of your trades when u jot down the profits in %, you might need to drag the long/short position box till the very bar that hits your target, else the % wont be accurate. Nevertheless, your trade looks amazing!

What do the lines between wicks indicate? I've heard of equal highs but am not sure what you should gather from them?
liquidity... price usually looks to take out the equal highs and lows

@@iamRap100 Thanks. I'm assuming it indicates liq has been taken as they are wicks, or is it that it's still there?
@@AB-kq9xm Nope, wicks are the liquidity. However once price runs thru these equal highs/lows (either raid or stop hunt) then we consider them taken.

If we break the area continually look for a pullback. If we don't break the area look for choch

I commented another video of yours a few days ago, perhaps a week. I'm sure it was sleep deprivation, but there are quite a few teachable moments where you're looking at one swing or another, you'll say "Oh, right," and mark it up, but fail to mention what specifically it was that stood out to you.
Regardless, great stuff! I don't mind the 2 hour video if you don't mind making them; it definitely helps to really observe how the market moves. That said, if possible, in the future, when you have an 'a-ha!' moment, it'd be super helpful to hear the "why".

At 10:10, why do ypu put that POI in there considering your new ChoCh should be under it? Or are you using swing highs at this point and not bos/ChoCh? I really struggle to find the right OBs, price always get through, I think my ranges are way too thin.

Love this video! I hope you keep making these Backtesting videos. One question though.. You are often drawing a high/low on the 15 min, which will be or is broken afterwards. But based on that, you seem to know that a reversal or continuation might occur. Can you explain a little bit deeper what your thinking behind those high/low drawings is? Many thanks in advance!
Thanks so much for the comment and watching! I mark out the breaks as I want to monitor whether the breaks are getting more frequent and closer together. Also, if there is a staggered market rather than a really strong trend, it indicates to me that a reversal / opposite direction trade is on the horizon. With every break, there is liquidity forming, but it's a case of pairing that up with several other confluences. I think I do a lot of it in my head rather than speak it out loud
love this backtesting you do. i did mine but only with the time im awake. thanks for offering your time to show me this. this video makes me sit in front of my pc the entire day just to backtest this strategy. im not as good as you but everytime i do this i learn more and more

Yes more of this if you get fewer loses using higher timeframes 15 min instead of 1 minute should u not stick to 15 minutes for entrys then or you make more then 150 a mounth by usiing the 1 min entry ?
Yeah, less losses on higher timeframes but far bigger RR on the lower timeframes when entering at extreme order blocks on the higher timeframes. Had a 45R trade close today (should have been more), but wouldn't have got that on a medium to high timeframe

Tip: always use a bigger SL in live trading than in backtesting- spreads and slippage tag you out sometimes 🙌🏼

Hi Paul, quick question for you. At the 1 hour mark you hedged your long trade with a short trade. Can you explain how you do that? Are you running a separate funded account?
Hi mate, same account just another trade in the opposite direction
@@TradeForexwithPaul Does it work differently in forex compared to Futures? If I am in a long trade in the ES, and take a short trade, it basically cancels my long trade. There are plenty of times I would love to hedge my trades, since I know that the market could potentially go either way, but they have it setup so that you have to make a firm decision, at least in the ES.
@@hennx55 yes it is different in forex. Forex allows you to take simultaneous trades in both directions if you want.

I wish it did! I've tried it on some obscure pairs and even though it sort of works, I couldn't say that it does with brilliant results. Try to stick to Majors and Minors
incredible content as always. thank you for being one of the only honest, high quality trading channels on this platform. have you tried incorporating heikin ashi candles into your entry criteria? intuitively they seem like they should be valuable for both continuations and reversals. i am incorporating them into my own back testing and don't yet have nearly enough data to comment myself, but i am curious about your thoughts on them.
Such a kind comment - thanks so much Joe! I've looked at them, and like the look of them but I've always found that their actual wicks don't align with actual price. Really good to spot trends easily but I find them hard to trade with. Something I'll probably explore at a later date though mate

Such an insightful video on Order blocks. I have studied Order blocks before but you have used them in such a simple way. I plan on trying this way of trading on GU but on a 1H and 2H time frame. Thanks for putting this out, I will go over your other backtest videos this week.

1h 40m in to the film, you are metioning a reversal pattern, what kind of reversal pattern? I dont see any?
The other thing is that you are some times taking an aggressive entry and another time you are waiting for 15m BOS, also not consistent, some times it is break by the wick and some times by body??? Thanks Fabian. With that one on 1 hour 40, I think it was body break, but in a key zone to reverse in. I'd have been happy with a wick break too. A lot of the time it comes down to market momentum and order flow. Generally, I'm happy with wick breaks, but they're more risky. A less risky way also it to wait for a retest after a break of structure beyond the change in momentum, so effectively entering 2 trades. Will try to make that clear in the next one mate. When trading OB, in GBPJPY I often see inducement, fake breakout, breaker where SL hit or my planned trade has not been triggered, I am surprised not to see those when you backtested AUDJPY, not often. Could you do a backtest on GBPJPY or GBPNZD from start of 6/2022 until now as example
Yeah, I'll give it a go mate. I used to LOVE GJ. Such an aggressive pair; very similar to XAU.

I'm only 11:16 in but I've been watching for over 30min and keep having to take notes rewind to truly soak it all in, I'm very familiar with smart money and everything I've seen so far but the way you maneuver though the time frames and your thought process is so so refreshing and I'm hooked, I would like to finish all this in one setting but that's not possible because my mental focus is slipping because Its almost 1Am where I am, I just wanted to leave this detailed comment and let you know that I understand why smart money traders and traders in zm capitals discord say that this video helped on made them profitable. I sat through the whole video in one sitting - it did not seem this long to me as I was focused on the charts following along. Very impressed sir!!!! I need trading to work for me and this has been a real motivation to change my approach. Like many I've tried all the shit indicators and I've never been able to find any consistency. I've tried other RUclips creators who trade Order Blocks, not found them as helpful or informative and didn't fully understand the power of this approach. I will apply to discord because I think you could be my 'missing link' to becoming profitable.
Do you ever move to break even or move TP into profit?
Sometimes... though I am trying to break that habit as price often retest the entry area as it often leaves an OB behind, so nowadays I just try to take a partial once I reach 1:5 and leave my SL in the same place and try to scale in if price returns to it.
A lot more faff that way, but its more profitable

Likely not, but it's a key area which most people will be looking at so it's bound to cause a lot of orders to flow in and create liquidity for moves

Just look to see if you're in a range or in a trend. If in a range decide which direction the market is likely to head and follow basic market structure. Following this use premium vs discount and dont take trades in the middle
