Album Link: • Equinoxe, Pt. 1
More than 40yrs on and - to me - this is still what the furure sounds like.
Agreed Rich! Still sounds so futuristic, and not dated imo
Some facts about these four parts:
Just as Oxygene was inspired by air, Equinoxe is based on water. In this album, Jarre tries to represent 24 hours a day. Part 1 feels almost like a sunrise. The Yamaha CS 60 was used in this part. The distribution is classic and in it the Eminent organ especially intervenes, creating a structure that is repeated several times while incorporating a delicate flute melody. The flute is made with the Yamaha CS 60, while several ascending and finally descending glissandos lead us to a part 2 led again by the Eminent organ via an electro harmonix Small Stone Phaser pedal. This part is full of special effects made with the VCS3 synthesizer and at the end of it, some human voices created with the AKS and some breaking waves generated with the ARP 2600 and programmed by Michel Geiss lead us to the third part that will be developed almost entirely to the rhythm of a waltz. In this part 3, the effect of the Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress pedal would be widely used. This minimalist composition is deeply evocative. The fourth part as supposed was a safe and successful single. In it, one of the sequencers created by Michel Geiss would appear, and with it they would get the most complex sequences that had been made up to now in electronic music. The Matrisequencer 250. This complex sequencer would handle an ARP 2600 with one of its factory presets for the complex sequence of brass that is heard non-stop throughout the song www.jarrography.free.fr/synths/goodies/arp2600_sequence.mp3. The special effects are mostly generated by the VCS 3 and AKS synthesizers. The Elka 707 organ stands in the musical line. Interestingly, the robot voices were not made with the EMS vocoder, but with the Arp 2600 thanks to a modification made to the synthesizer by Michel Geiss. As in Oxygene 2, Equinoxe 4's male choruses are made with the mellotron and the female human voice is generated with the AKS. It seems that the drum machine and although it only puts one among the instruments used, it was actually 2. In part 4 it seems that an Eko ComputeRhythm Sample Pack is used, while in parts 5 and 6 the Korg KEIO was also used Mini Pops 7 Rhythm Machine. A hug.
Jarrehead supremo!!!!!
I love your technical analysis, just a few clarifications .. in part 1 the flutes are not mellotron but CS60, in part 2 the breaking waves are done with ARP 2600 (interview by Michel Geiss). In part 3 the Bad Stone Phaser pedal is used, more intense than the small stone, always connected to the eminent 310. The wonderful sequence of Equinoxe 4 is rightly realized with the Matrisequencer 250 driving an arp 2600, semi-modular synthesizer, has no preset. Among the drum machines used is a prototype made by Michel Geiss with the name of rithm computer, there are some photos on the internet and it seems that it was used together with the minipops 7 and the Eko ComputeRhythm simultaneously. All the effects present in the songs are made by the incredible Vcs3, they are many and very very complex, also elaborated through Small Stone and Electric Mistress flanger. The tracks are recorded on 16-track tape (oxygene 8-track) and mixed for the master at the Gang Studio in paris
Behind this album, there is a lot of technique, a lot of research, a lot of talent, nothing to do with today.
@@MrOxygene77 Thank you for your clarifications and for the information provided. I had serious doubts with the equinox flute 1. That is why I did not assure it. As for the equinoxe 4 sequence, when I talk about preset I mean not a programmable memory, since this synthesizer could not store sounds in memory, but rather that the specifications booklet included how to program some sounds. Among those specifications and notes to create some sounds let's call them "factory" were the metals of the sequence of equinoxe 4. As for the Geiss rhythm computer, I did not put it because in some pages specialized in the instruments used by Jarre it does not mention that he used it in equinoxe 4. If he used it according to what they have in parts 5,6 and 7. In part 3 you did use the Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress pedal. That does not mean that he did not use others like the one you tell us about. If you could provide me with more information, I would greatly appreciate it. Part 3 is the one that best hides its secrets. A hug.
@@Nidels Thanks Nidels, it's good that there is someone like you who likes to get into the bowels of sound, I love that! The pedal used in part 3 can be heard here ruclips.net/video/HIDn9OZX5ZE/видео.html much more captivating than the Small Stone brother. Electric Mistress is a flanger, used for example in part 4 together with the noise generator or in part 7 second variation with string eminent ruclips.net/video/-KUYE0tzD-Y/видео.html
Part 3 is hypnotic, I'm not sure about the ringing sequence, if done with ARP2600 or RMI Harmonic .. The water effects present are done with VCS3, except the delayed bubbles in the finale, Michel Geiss says he used a glass and a bucket !
I like this analysis, curious to know more!
@@MrOxygene77 Thanks. Take a look at parts 5 to 8 to see how I have contributed the data, although I already told you. It is very difficult to locate them reliably. A hug.
To this day-nearly 45 years after I first heard it, it still brings tears to my eyes. It just reaches in and PLAYS ME. Absolute genius!
Jean-Michel is the son of famous movie composer Maurice Jarre (1924-2009) who wrote the score for films like "Lawrence Of Arabia", "A Passage To India", "Mad Max III" and "Gorillas In The Mist", to name a few.
Been waiting for this for what feels like ages. CANNOT WAIT FOR PARTS V-VIII!!!!!
Just because you listened to this masterpiece...Greetings from Western Europe!
Beautiful
What an opening, this album is just as good as oxygene
Equinoxe 2 - probably the most beautiful synthesised music ever....magical...
Yes, yes, yes, yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss. By the way, I didn't know you played the hang drum that well. A hug.
Ty Nidels😁
That.was.a.goal.
My all time favourite Jarre album - and I had this for my 10th birthday back in 1978.
I was eight, and I got it second hand when I was ten in 1980. Blew my mind again, having recently recovered from Oxygene...
Brings me back to undergrad school in our suitemate's dorm room doing bong hits and slipping deeply into this album's groove playing on a high end system. Those were halcyon days.
After so many years, this album still gives me goosebumps, tears, chills... There is so much to discover when listening to it. So many patterns of typical synthesizer sounds who are stitched together so perfectly. Timeless it is, it will be my favorite album forever. Much respect to Jean Michel putting together such a masterpiece if you think what you have to do for that 43 yaers ago.
Superb. I like this one more than Oxygene.
i was borne in 1968, this was my music,i thank you for this.
For me this is the JMJ album to recommend to everyone who doesn't know him. The B side is the best he's ever done I think
Absolutely. Equinoxe - Probably the height of his genius..
I prefer the side A, but the whole album is excellent
I'd say B-side but add part 4 from side A.
Fantastic, takes me back to the first time I heard Equinoxe in 1982 aged 11 in my friends house.
This absolutely amazing futuristic music coming from the bright red labelled Polydor record playing his Dads Technics record deck and hifi.
Equinoxe is and has always been my favourite album and was the real start of my life long love of Jean Michel Jarres music.
Timeless.
Jarre is great, a couple of his other favourite albums of mine are ‘Magnetic Fields’ and ‘Rendezvous’. As for other ambient synth instrumental bands you can’t go far wrong with one of the original pioneers of the genre ‘Tangerine Dream’. They are incredible and have produced hundreds of albums over the last 50 years. Many of their albums are recorded live in concert directly from the sound desk. My highlight albums from Tangerine Dream include ‘Logos Live’, ‘Force Majure’, ‘Tangram’ and ‘Live Poland’. Thanks for the video JP 😁
Rendezvous is brilliant & my favourite.
Transharmonic Nights by Peter Baumann is great too.
Have never had such tears of joy and happiness as the heart 💓 knows genius from the first few notes
Part 3 makes me cry everytime..touches my heart always.. brilliant...
That's my all-time most favorite JMJ album!
THE BLUE GUYS WITH THE BINOCULARS ON THE ALBUM COVER ARE CALLED 'THE WATCHERS'
Yeeeeees thank you for this Équinoxe time ! I am so a big fan of this album ! I can listen it everyday, discovering new sounds, new things… it’s a crazy music ! And you describe so well the image you got listening to it ! Thank you agaaaaaain !
Ty Guillaume! Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh my Justin, this was stunning and you played so well at the beginning of the video. Thanks for this.
My pleasure!
i used to read books on ufos in the seventies..with this playing in playing in my headphones...really set the mood!!
I was introduced to this album by my father, he heard me listening to electronic music and he was like "you know electronic from the 70's?" and then pulled out this album in vinyl for us to listen over dinner. Good memories.
That was a beautiful start Justin. The thing with JMJ is that you shall sit and basically look out in the distance, clear your mind totally and just float.... closest to meditation I can get
This was brand new when I discovered Jarre at 15. I put it on one side of a cassette and Oxygene on the other, and literally wore it out, then put a lot of wear on a replacement, then onto CD, then MP3 player... I cannot count how many times I've listened to it except that it's well into the thousands. I love it far too much to be objective. :)
I still have Equinoxe on vinyl, and it's still one of my favourite things to put on to remind me why I still own a record player. There's something about old synths and vinyl that works so well. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the rest!
Graininess?
Huge respect for listening to these masterpieces! Subscribed.
I've always thought of part one as the moment of sunrise. The long deep note at the beginning suggests something is about to happen, something powerful and mysterious. Then the first high notes are the first hint of the sun's rays as they near the horizon. Then the music rises to a crescendo as the tip of the sun appears and a new day dawns. An album of genius. I can't wait for your reaction to side 2!
Good visual!
A visual artist, who is a friend of mine, used to have a studio in a forgotten part of the downtown. It was an amazing space filled with his art work, art work he had been gifted or had traded for and 1000s of books, mementos, plastic figures, things he had found on the street and old furniture. When he was forced to close it (rent jumped up as the area gentrified) some local art community publication came and took photos of it and a local film maker filmed it. Before this though, I would drop by to visit (I worked nearby) and to bring lunch because artist is synonymous with starving and invariably he would have music playing in the back ground. This album and others like it were a staple of this listening pleasure so when I hear this I end up thinking about deli sandwiches stuffed with far more meat than seemed financially tenable or huge cheeseburgers and fries, it all being washed down with tins of Coca-Cola. Good conversation, excellent art and tremendous vibes. This album brought all that back. Thanks.
Great album. Great review.
p.s. I realized that you haven't finished reviewing Blue yet so I am looking forward to that but I also realized that you have never covered Bonnie Raitt which surprised me. I only have her Give It Up album which is damn good but I also remember her for her cover of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery". Maybe some other commenter can weigh in on what songs of hers would be worth covering.
Absolutely excellent piece of music! He knew how music actually works. An astounding one Justin.
I can clearly remember de very first time I've heard this album. After being listened Oxigene, buyed this one. Went to my parent's living room, wich has a magnificent exterior view to the courtyard and open air, completely in darkness, because it was late in the night, with my walkman and my new cassette, and sat on the couch. Umm. Equinoxe, I said. Well, let's hear... Pressed play.
BOOOM
Never in my entire life costed me so hard to turn back to real life after being heard a music like this. Instantly thrusted away to another time, dimension, space, place… keepbreathing, astonishing, overwelming, incredibly beautiful.
I felt dozed, spiritually numbed.
Since then I have been waiting all my life to find another record wich could do to my soul the same effect that this wonder did to me.
Thats awesome, love reading that type of experience
For me, the transition from part 2 to part 3 is pure musical, calming ecstasy. One thing I noticed early on with Jean Michel Jarre (massive fan by the way, have been since 1983 when I was 13 and I discovered The Essential Jean Michel Jarre, advertised on tv), is there is always a stand alone piece, which on here is Equinoxe part 5. I know, that 's next on your video. You get into it as deeply as I do.
I also read somewhere that the album itself was designed to reflect a 24 hour day, he wanted listeners to play it when they are different moods.
These early synth explorers were sonically presented us with new ways to conceive of music... ambient, spacy, wallpaper for meditation, or washing dishes, just wistfully relaxing, or driving, or... you get the picture. Some beautiful, some scary, some dancing. Tomita, Tangerine Dream, maybe Kraftwerk, Walter Carlos. All in the record collection of teenage me, just growing and grooving. Opening the door for the more progilly aggressive groups. Thank you for letting us in on this and keeping this gorgeous music around.
As soon as I hear this cold shivers down my spine brilliant soundscapes by the man jarre been a fan since the 70s n met him too
Oh, you SO have to check out Vangelis now. Spiral or Albedo 0.39 would be a good place to start, I think.
This is some beautiful stuff though. So glad I clicked to listen.
I always preferred "Heaven and Hell" or "Blade Runner"
1492 is also really good...
@@jaykirby7387 I think Spiral or Albedo is a better place to start, but I also like them just as much as Heaven and Hell.
May I add CHINA
@@michelcolmant1714 YES. Great album.
Love this album, absolutely genius!! Thank you Jean Michel for the music! X
The melody from @15:00 onwards has been living rent free in my head since I was a kid
The first JMJ I ever heard some 40 years ago, and still my favourite. I can listen to it and never get bored - in fact I listened to it along with you. Glad you appreciated it!
Thanks Phil!
Can't wait to see your reaction on the 2nd side ;-) You know, I used to listen to Reggae, New Age and British Pop in the late 70ths (as a German)... and then - at the party of a friend everyone including me listened to the 2nd side of Equinoxe with goose bumps - and my musical taste changed dramatically!
Ty! I can imagine how this opened you up musically!
I loved the way he played with the stereo balance of the sounds, something he touched on in Oxygene.
I LOVED YOUR MUSICAL INTRO JUSTIN ! ! !
Thanks so much Andrew!
Jarre. The master of the key change. Shivers...
Absolutely stunning piece Justin... All four parts are different.. But so rich in their musicality, and beauty The first two parts take u on a mystical ride to unknown places in my head.. Gorgeous compositions butty 😊 😊 😊.
Then the third, and final part are just superb, they hit you you like a tidal wave.. Just gorgeous pieces of work imho... It does not get better for me.. 😊 ❤️❤️.
Equinoxe... Ok, Oxygene was amazing, period.. Ok Jean, can you follow it up though.. Oh yesss butty.
Stunning butty, just stunning ❤️.
Wonderful review my friend.. Spot on.. Again.
Thanks for this lovely Saturday surprise Justin. 👍 👍 👍 Awesome
I still have my Roland Juno -106. I still have JMJ vinyl albums and I tried to emulate his work back in the 80's. Love your video and so jealous you're hearing this for the first time.
Awesome album! Great reaction as usual Justin!
Ty GB!
Loved that intro JP - how good was that! Your hidden skills obviously know no limits. Excellent as always.
Ty! I'm glad you liked that :)
Time to recommend it again: As Falls Wichita So Falls Wichita Falls by Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays. :-)
That intro part is so fantastic :-)
YESS!!! Equinoxe just as good as Oxygene. I prefer side 2 better in my opinion but im glad youve done this.
Have you thought about doing a video on Jeff Waynes The War Of The World's album? I'm a huge Jarre and Oldfield Fan and I think you'll like War Of The Worlds, assuming of course that you haven't already heard it.
He’s reacted to Forever Autumn but not the whole album....I agree I think would enjoy the experience!
@@benmarshall404 Thanks Ben, I'll have a look at the Forever Autumn video. I adore that track.
Definitely on my mind!
it really needs to be heard in track order so you hear the themes progress throughout the whole concept :)
Have that 'Live' DVD in UK, absolutely brilliant musicianship all round, just like first time it was released back in the day. Good shout Dave Telford!
Absolutely love this
Nice playing Justin...This piece does transport you within your mind, beautiful...
THanks!
Fantastic! Was waiting for this one as your reaction to the first Oxygene album was so positive
Ty Ben, hope it was worth the wait 😁
JP you make me smile!! Great commentary, man. This album is def one of JMJ's best, can't be faulted. So you think the first 4 'movements' are wonderful? Wait till you hear no.5!!!! Guaranteed to blow your mind!!! Stay safe my friend, have a great weekend ❤
Ty Zeibekka! Looking forward to it :D
I like your wave metaphor. I grew up along the shores of Lake Michigan and still visit occasionally. That’s where certain music transports me.
I taught myself to play the beginning of this album. 💚🎼
It shouldn't Jarre you, that so many of us are music nerds, will taste every flavor on tap! All things being 'equal' I don't want to wait 6 months till J.M.J. crosses your center line again! Have an acendant weekend, Peace.n Prog.
Instant like! Such a great follow up for Oxygene. I love (a lot of) Jarre's music for the same reason. You can totally be lost in it and it takes you places. I hope you'll enjoy Parts 5-8 as well and that you'll consider continuing the journey with the next album "Magnetic Fields" after that.
Jean, truly you rule.
One of my favourite LP's in my album collection and thrilled you chose to give it a spin. Brings me back in time to around 1981 as an 18 year old having moved out with some friends and would throw this album on loud at the end of the party and at the peak of maybe a puff or 10 and most having crashed this album would echo through the house and eventually wash us all to sleep.
I love the interesting way you describe what you just heard, very creative and assertive, reveals how much you feel what you hear.
Ty Zeideias!
im so excited
You should check out Vangelis _Heaven & Hell_ and _Albedo 0.39._ Both great electronic albums but with more of a classical music feel.
Your expressions - that is what music can do for you. Also why this is my favourite album of all time.
Justin, just a tip for the future - Vangelis, albums China or Voices.
Thank you for your videos. It is amazing to explore or discover old/new music with you.
Thank you Milan :)
I have been JMJ fan since 1987 and the first JMJ concert I watched on Norwegian TV was in 1987, but the concert and the Lasershow Jarre had was from 1986 in Houston Texas ☺ I bought my first JMJ album on cassette tape in 1990 which was Waiting For Cousteau, but after that I bought other JMJ albums on cassette tape and CD ☺ I have some JMJ concerts on originale DVD and copied ☺ Still is my favourite JMJ concert Paris La Defense and my second favourite EIC Barcelona in 1993 ☺ Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fiends, Rendez-Vous etc I have here in my apartmen. Around 25 original JMJ CD albums ☺
Thanks, haven't heard this in over 30 years.
Late but can I just appreciate the fact that you have reacted to one of my favourite albums ever. Oxygene is pretty close to. Thank you for doing that🙏
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Jean Michel Jarrre was classically trained, specialising in harmony. He also had the opportunity to work with some early pre-synthesizer electronic musical instruments at Radio France, much like Delia Derbyshire at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the UK recorded different pitched sine wave tones and spliced them together creating the famous Dr Who sci-fi theme tune. His father Maurice Jarre wrote film scores and won Academy Awards for Dr Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia. Equinoxe takes over from where Oxygene left off and takes things to newer heights. Equinoxe 1 is so symphonic in its composition. That 'theremin' sound with vibrato that you refer to on Equinoxe part 4 is actually an EMS synth, the Synthi AKS that has a 2 octave membrane keyboard and he controls the volume swells manually to give a soprano type sound, like on Oxygene Part 1. 2 new synth additons were the Oberheim 2 Voice and Yamaha CS-60 as you can clearly hear the Glissando effect on Equinoxe Part 1 chromatically ascending (a semi tone at a time) then descending at the end. The ARP 2600 synth does a lot of the sequenced sounds, especially that brass-like sequence on Equinoxe Part 4.
I love it.Thanks
Great way to enter the Spring Equinox! I could actually imagine seeing the Sun's shadow slowly moving across the Equator.
Parts of this work reminded me of Vangelis - it has the same flowing synths style, but with acoustic instruments. I really like Vangelis' Heaven and Hell album, parts of which were used in Carl Sagan's Cosmos.
You should definitely try Zoolook. Some amazing moments in it.
I agree, Zoolook is my favourite album from Jarre. It's so different from the previous ones, and they're all amazing
Ang on, First I Must Shout!!!!
NICE Handpan playing my Friend!!!!
Thanks!
i've saw him 5 times live it was just aaaaaaamaaaaazing
JP Thank you for playing Equinox for us!!!
Happily Phase! Ty
Equinoxe❤️. One of Jarres iconic album. Maybe the best, an excellent choice to start with. Part 4❤️, how did that come to his mind...
EXCELENT REACTION AND ANLYSE!!! YOUR WORDS ARE LIKE THIS MUSIC!!!
Ty Martin!!
I think you'll really enjoy Part 1 and 2 from Chronologie. My favourite work by him
Chronology ***
Oh wow, immediate click.... happy Saturday Justin. you just perked up mine.
Hope you have a great weekend!!
Hooray! I'm so glad to see you do this one. I find it more melodically satisfying than its predecessor. Parts two and three have such an amniotic quality to them. Seems to come as musically close to experiencing a sensory deprivation chamber as one could get. Happy to see you digging it.
Looking forward to Justin doing an analysis of Zoolook, or most Jarre albums TBH.
I'd also like a review of Equinoxe Infinity as a comparison with his the return to the concept after 40 years. If you want to listen to orchestral versions of JMJ tracks I'd recommend The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra & Crouch End Festival Chorus; Symphonic JMJ, but I'd wait a while until you have gotten up to Metamorphoses in his catalogue.
Jean Michel Jarre is just an amazing composer. No one opens the minds eye better. I used to have the Chinese concerts double album. First time I heard magnetic fields and it blew me away. Will look forward to side 2 Justin thank you.
Still have my China Concerts album.
@@-davidolivares I'm coming round for a listen 😄
Back then some commented him being a watered down version of Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze. But I think that it is bit unfair since both of them had reached their peak by the time Jarre appeared.
I wouldn't pick any one over the other. They're all synthesizer greats. When it comes to Tangerine Dream though, I know Justin only does album versions, but in the case of TD, I would seriously suggest to start with the live album Poland. The live versions are so much better than the album versions.
@@freudsigmund72 That dedpends. Ricochet was more or less improvised. :)
I don't know much about post- Franke era.
A good starting point would be Rubycon Part One. :)
@@onsesejoo2605 I see what perspective you have. To me Ricochet isn't playlist material. From that era I then much more prefer Stratosfear
It's kdm (Klaus Muller, Schulze's old friend and manager) who said something like '...and then came that french guy, put our electronic music over pop melodies, and voila! - became famous'.
Nonsense to me. They're both brilliant - in totally different ways.
@@masterpeace8539 Thanks ! I read some reviews in national press back then in the same vein.
Thank you, my brother, that I could share my pleasure from music I love with you.
still blows my mind! fun to see it's not just me! :)
I like Jean-Michel Jarre... Once in a while! It's not something that I would listen on a regular base, but I always appreciate it when I listen to it.
Nice Handpan intro! Equinoxe never gets old to me. Nice review.
Hi Justin ; thank for your review on Jean Michel Jarre . this album is from 1978 ! ! !
French wikipédia gives : " the album Equinoxe is an hymn to life and nature , including sounds of spring equinoxe and autumn equinoxe such as water , rain , wind , sea , storm ....to sketch the day of a human on earth from morning ( 1- 4 ) to night ( 5 - 8 )
J M Jarre had declare : " I wanted to evoke the passage of the 24 hours of a day, each part of the album representing a different time of day and night. …
I want people to use my disc to spend it at different times of the day and when they are in different moods " .
Multitracks and 13 electronics instruments were used , including matrisequencer rythmicomputer built by friend Michel Geiss , especially for J M Jarre .
thanks for your kindness if my translation is not perfect .
Hey I was really enjoying your playing...I didn't want you to stop. More More!!
Glad you are continuing your journey with JMJ. His music brings you to so many landscapes. Used to turn off the lights...put headphones on and space away. (The killer was having to put the light on to flip the album to side 2 and start over with the space away...the good ol days)
Note: with JMJ I was also listening to Vangelis and Tangerine Dream to also space away.
My fave Vangelis is Heaven and Hell. It is an acquired taste...very classical in performance. Albedo 0.39 is very spacey...oh so many great albums.
Tangerine Dream fave song Phaedra. Some more spacey stuff.
If you do Tangerine Dream my suggestion is do Phaedra first.
Ty Freddie! I'll probably play more in the future 🙂
Nice musical intro, you're gifted Justin ;-)
Thank you :)
I envy you, I wish I could hear this masterpiece for the first time again.
Have you tried Vangelis? Albedo 0.39 I feel you would like.
I‘m looking forward to the B-Side... and because many here told you about Tangerine Dream, Vangelis if you like stuff like this - they are right, but - something similar but totally different:
When I heard JMJ for the first time it was an introduction of a complete new world of sound - (I‘m 54 years old - I had the „original culture shock“ - hearing this inbetween all the guitar stuff on the Radio in the end of the 70‘s.) I had this feeling one more time - some years later, when I‘ve heard „The Art of Noise“ for the first time. My first listening was „Beat Box (Diversion 2)“ and „close to the edit“. A little bit later, the more famous but not less brilliant „Moments in Love“. There are three Versions of „Moments In Love“. I would recommend to listen to „Love“ - opener of the Album „Daft“ and then „Beat Box“ and „Close to the edit“ from the same Album. The Album „Daft“ is - like Oxygene and Equinoxe - a journey and is best listen to in one go. Because there are so many interlude experimental tracks between the „better known“ songs from them. I think it would be a cool thing to see you reacting to those three songs I‘ve mentioned,
29:41 Do you want JMJ music translated into classical music? Search for The Symphonic Jean-Michel Jarre, a tribute album by the City of Praga Philharmonic Orchestra... it's awesome!
Nice recommendation, thanks!
Belanescu Quartet did a great classical album of Kraftwerk
Hey, J, very nice playing, handpan is awesome.
Thanks Jian!
Brilliant album, was doing a best of Jarre for my new tablet, put equinoxe parts 4 and 5 on it, superb
Good morning Justin and fellow followers!
Oh, wow.
What a nice surprise to watch the sunrise here on the West Coast to, having just Awakened to take my daily fasting medication. But, I shouldn't have been surprised. Next weekend is the Spring Equinox, and your a master at subtle timing, Justin.
I look forward to giving this a first watch when I get up in another couple of hours after my medicine kicks in and I can have my first cuppa. Off to dream of your reaction to another album by The Maestro and other things for a couple more hours.
I'm always just in time ;) Thanks Illume!
Nice percussion intro, glad to see you play and good to hear this album again... thinking I have it on vinyl cuz I remember looking at the cover not too long ago. Cool cover.
Tomita does classical interpretations, Debussy, Ravel, Mussorgsky, etc. plus original compositions. Sadly, not much is on Spotify, RUclips it. Snowflakes Are Dancing, Firebird, Pictures At An Exhibition, The Planets, The Bermuda Triangle, all great.
Peace and space Music
Space music, David? Hawkwind? Grobschnitt?
