  • I visited Multan, a city in the state of Punjab, Pakistan. It is one of the five largest urban centres of Pakistan, a major cultural, religious and economic centre of Punjab region, with a history stretching deep into antiquity.
The city was among most important trading centres and a great centre of knowledge and learning in the medieval Islamic Indian subcontinent, and attracted a multitude of Sufi mystics in the 11th and 12th centuries, becoming a great centre of spirituality in entire South Asia and earning the city the sobriquet "City of Saints." The city is renowned for its large number of Sufi shrines dating from that era.
During my visit I found out that I was allowed to stay only in a very limited number of hotels because that have received an authorization to host foreigners
and I had to be escorted by two police officers during my entire time. In spite of that, I enjoyed visiting religious sites and the big market, meeting some of the most welcoming and friendly people.
