One thing I found out about KCD1 just a couple weeks ago which I think goes a long way in pushing the immersion just that little bit further is when you fast travel, it isn't just generating random encounters somewhere then load you into the location, but instead the game is just continuing its simulation at 4x speed or therabouts and Henry is just walking along the route, if Bandits are in the area at the specific time Henry walks through, then the event is triggered. The game is just constantly continuing the simulation while you play.

KCD is in my top 10 games of all-time. I am trying my hardest not to give into blind hype but dang I am so excited. Also, nice call-out for Neon Knight. He’s an AMAZING top tier channel.
Now this game I am looking forward to and am pretty proud to be part of its prequel that created this amazing new legacy. I suspect all the sales that would have gone to Dragon Age Veilgurd or later on to Ass Creed will go towards KCD2. Also great to witness the whole world learning about the history of my country and having fun while doing so.
I'm so excited for this! Nobody talks enough about the hardcore mode too which was great, I dived straight into a second play through. I've never seen any other open world RPGs take the player's position off the map, it forced me to read the map and learn routes.
I spent hours on KCD 1. It was so fun. Plus their studio was so small at the time so now that they have a much bigger group I'm even more excited. Idk what Ubisoft was thinking when they decided to release shadows around KCD 2 lol
KCD is my favorite game. I remember being in High School when they first announced it on Kickstarter in 2014 and being disappointed that I didn't have the money then to fund it.
I’ve been playing the first for the first time this year. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me. Better at Bethesda than Bethesda. I was engaged with every piece of content on a level not since RDR2 or Witcher 3. I’m super super excited for the sequel.
Maybe I'm just crazy but I really don't care about bugs unless it is gamebreaking. It's a finishing details thing. Some of my favorite gaming experiences were bug ridden
I just recently got KCD1 (pretty deep Steam sale), and am pumped for this one next year. Glad to see some new coverage from a creator I trust that is out of sync with what others are doing right now. Matty Plays - Best Plays.
Matty!!! You are one of the most honest, respectful, trustworthy RUclipsrs on this site. The fact you're a good man jumps off the screen as you speak. I know what a good, honorable man looks like as I was privileged to serve as a US Army infantryman. I'm sorry you were hurt after people recently accused you of being an ist, which you obviously are not. Keep your head up and keep moving forward. I look forward to support you well into your long, bright future. God bless you and yours. - Justin
I fully expect this to be game of the year for me. The original KCD is one of the most underrated games of all time. Albeit, I did play it a few years after launch, so maybe the launch issues were what kept it lower initially, but it was an absolute delight to play and no game comes even close to its authentic depiction of medieval Europe in this quality level.
I'm so proud of Warhorse man. While KCD1 always had a bit of jank to it, it was just a good fun game to play. Now that they're building on that momentum in KCD2 has me super excited for what's coming.
I have thoughts too, I CAN"T FK'N WAIT! I loved the first game to death, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the second game to death, one of my favorite missions in gaming was Mysterious Ways and going on a drunken journey with a Father Godwin.
I literally just started playing it for the first time a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. Absolutely hooked. It's such a great game, I hope they eventually remaster the original, but it still looks great. Just buy the Royal Edition and call it a day. It's like $40 and alot of the DLC can be intertwined with the main story as you're playing through (I'm actually not totally sure how many of the DLC bits I've already started, alot of them are just presented as quests). The only one that I know for sure is a separate prologue is the Theresa story and maybe the Hans Capon DLC is separate, too (unless you're still playing as Henry in that one, but I think you play as Hans). I'm still not even a 3rd of the way through the main story, I'm right at "Nest of Vipers", but I've been off doing other quests to level up for quite a while before I do that one. I was told "Nest of Vipers" is about 1/3 of the way into the main story, so I'm probably overleveled and over-armored for combat by now, but there's so many other skills to master, you just start down these mission chains and you're in a totally new region before you realize it. I can't wait to see how awesome the sequel turns out to be.
Unpopular take but I got the first one recently while I did enjoy the growing up and slow leveling of things like reading /alchemy once you get master strikes which is fairly early on the combat became so easy that it really made the game simple
Honestly Matty, really glad you finally got around to covering this game I’ve been hyped ever since the community posts before the announcement trailer, and the more I hear the more hyped I am The first game, with all its flaws, was the only game I played as an adult that made me feel the same feelings I felt when I played Oblivion as a child Another chapter in this series is my most anticipated game of 2025 hands down 🙌🏻
I'm sure we're gonna have skills and starting gear but somehow start low because something story wise will happen to Henry like losing a battle or getting bushwhacked
KCD is simply a game made for gamers: it's a simple formula but giant corporate studios just can't grasp that simple concept. I've never enjoyed playing games that corporate reviewers hate as much as I have this year. Stellar blade/ Black Myth Wukong/ Space Marine 2 - all total bangers the corporations hate. I loved them all and gladly gave my money over to them. AAA Studios now trying to guilt people into buying games because 'if you don't support the current thing then you are against the current thing' is pretty pathetic IMO. gone are the days when the corporate studios were focused on making great games; now it's about pushing agendas, shoehorning their narratives into games, attacking people that don't support it...... and they wonder why they fail each and every time. I look forward to drunken brawls and re learning how to fire my bow and arrow again in KCD 2!
It's kind of sad that bethesda dropped off a cliff after so much love. But going from 76 and starfield, I dont think a lot of people have expectations of the next ES or FO game.
KCD is my favorite game of all time. I’ve never been more excited for a game than I am for KCD 2. This is a studio that deserves your attention, time and support. They actually care about and LISTEN to their customers. (A rare thing from a dev in 2024, I know.)
Feck me that's the first time I've ever heard someone say that....... Each to their own, not for me though im tired next gen updates just a cash grab let's be real
Hey Matty been watching so much of your videos and so cool to see someone feel exactly like me about video games, have you done a retro rebound for the Uncharted series?
Played KCD on hard my first play through. I regretted it at first because the map won't show you where you're at. Later I learned to appreciate it. Def in my top 10 of all time, maybe top 5. Normally don't care about a games story, but this one had me glued to it.
What most modern studios seem to not understand about RPGs is that putting skill points into different combat animations - is not RPG, if that is the case - Tekken is an RPG. No, it is about ROLE playing. You want player choices to play the game how you want it. And modern "RPGs" are more on rails than some 80s arcade games... KIngdom Come Deliverance was a very good RPG and if their formula will not change in the sequel - I am excited.
Crimson Desert is still my number one game for next year but I'll definitely be getting this too. Just hope it hasn't fallen into the trap of most games today of being made for the "modern audience".
It literally cannot cuz everything needs to be green lighted by one guy who came up with KCD and he is hardcore conservative so no woke stuff can get through really.
My God, I can’t wait for this game. It’s so crazy where we are now. If you would’ve told me a decade ago that I would one day rather play a Chinese dress-up game (infinity nikki) over a new dragon age or even 90% of Western AAA big budget games I would’ve said you are bat crap crazy. But here we are man. Here we are. It’s a freaking dress-up game and it looks 100x more fun, beautiful and better to play than our AAA Big budget games lol.
Hey man, just putting some positive energy your way. I hadn't watched any of your vids til I saw you were the 2nd highest veilguard reviewer - and I looked at the backlash and confidently say - you are a good guy and you absolutely have a place in this space. More than that - we need people like you - honest people. I'm really glad to see you keep going - and now, I'm going to watch this video happily and relax so goodbye :)

Loved the immersion and choices in KCD 1. Also loved the combat and how it requires the player to become skilled
I have over 200 hours in KCD. Didn't think much of it at first. It's my #1 best game of all time now
Cute numbers
I am absolutely pumped for this
Matty is that dude... love your content
KCD is one on my favorites. I hope it can get even more exposure to people it deserves it
KCD is in my top 10 games of all-time.
The first game took me a while to get into but it was sooo worth it
Warhorse Studios is all you want in a gaming developer studio: transparent communication, true love for their game and loads of talent!
Obsidian is good. Warhorse is great! But I'd keep an eye on Spiders as well.
Greedfall 2
Obsidian was good*
KCD is my favorite game. I remember being in High School when they first announced it on Kickstarter in 2014 and being disappointed that I didn't have the money then to fund it.
I just finished the first one. Great game! Band of Bastards is the best DLC and a highlight for me.
I’ve been playing the first for the first time this year. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me.
Better at Bethesda than Bethesda. I was engaged with every piece of content on a level not since RDR2 or Witcher 3.
I’m super super excited for the sequel.
Warhorse studios passion for their game just oozes through the screen, absolutely sublime work.
Maybe I'm just crazy but I really don't care about bugs unless it is gamebreaking. It's a finishing details thing. Some of my favorite gaming experiences were bug ridden
A Playthrough of KCD 1 from Matty would be Glorious!!
One of the most refreshingly unique rpgs I've ever played. This looks awesome
I feel for modern day reviewers like Matty who have to play all this crap we've been fed recently. This is torture!
KCD is one of my top five games, so incredibly unique and immersive
KCD2-Game Of The Year!
I just recently got KCD1 (pretty deep Steam sale), and am pumped for this one next year. Glad to see some new coverage from a creator I trust that is out of sync with what others are doing right now. Matty Plays - Best Plays.
KCD was one of the best games of all time. No doubt this will be better, given that they’ve got some devs from Witcher 3
Perfectly summed up how so many of feel. 4:19
MH Wilds and KCD 2. Can't wait
Cant wait for this game
Look! Matty's come to see us! Jesus christ be praised!
Matty, you’re a real one. Great to see ❤
Unpopular take but I got the first one recently while I did enjoy the growing up and slow leveling of things like reading /alchemy once you get master strikes which is fairly early on the combat became so easy that it really made the game simple
Agreed, it really isn't that hard once you know what you are doing.
Honestly Matty, really glad you finally got around to covering this game
I’ve been hyped ever since the community posts before the announcement trailer, and the more I hear the more hyped I am
The first game, with all its flaws, was the only game I played as an adult that made me feel the same feelings I felt when I played Oblivion as a child
Another chapter in this series is my most anticipated game of 2025 hands down 🙌🏻
I'm excited for KCD2, too.
I almost forgot about this game. This definitely has potential to be one of the best RPGs in years
I'm sure we're gonna have skills and starting gear but somehow start low because something story wise will happen to Henry like losing a battle or getting bushwhacked
Matty, you should replay KCD1 solely for the dog dlc. The rest greatly fleshed out the game as well
KCD is simply a game made for gamers: it's a simple formula but giant corporate studios just can't grasp that simple concept.
The industry needs this game now. For a variety of reasons
Warhorse is the only Western studio I trust to make a game for the sake of making a game.
Yay!!!!! I've been craving this video from you since the teasers.
I wish they'd just give us a next-gen update to the original one.
Why? No need really its old gaem
Sick and tired of paying for upgrading “next gen” games.
It was so buggy. I hope the new one works good
Feck me that's the first time I've ever heard someone say that....... Each to their own, not for me though im tired next gen updates just a cash grab let's be real
Not a bad idea..... the nextgen TW3 was incredible.
I don"t need a masterpiece just a fun & enjoyable experience like KCD 1 to immerse myself in.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO MAKE A KCD 2 VIDEO!! Lesss goooooo
The way most people feel about Baldur's Gate 3 is the way i feel about Kingdom Come Deliverance
Hey Matty been watching so much of your videos and so cool to see someone feel exactly like me about video games, have you done a retro rebound for the Uncharted series?
The combat can be unforgiving, but it really feels like a medieval simulator
Hell yes, some much needed positivity! MrMatty always delivers the goods.
Love KCD! Never heard you talk about the game Elex? It seems right up your alley, Matty
I'm really glad to see you keep going - and now, I'm going to watch this video happily and relax so goodbye :)
i love kcd because honestly so many historical games include unrealistic things, but this game is fully into realism and history
Warhorse needs to make a fantasy game this immersive
Look at this photograph! Every time I do it makes me laugh! 😆
