56 y.o. white male in self-isolation who 'didn't like rap' when I was younger just 'discovered' Public Enemy. Oh my god this is amazing. Chuck D has the best voice on the planet. I've gone down the old-school rap/hip-hop rabbit hole on You Tube and I don't expect to surface, and I'm not sure I want to. This music is gold. Stay safe everyone :)
I hope I’m not preaching to the converted... Most of the rap/hip-hop being churned out these days is only fit for the trash. If you haven’t already, check out BIG L, BDP, Nas, Kendrick, De La Soul, Big E, Tribe Called Quest, 2Pac etc etc I could go on yet hope you enjoy. These artists in the main, produced tracks with meaning. You stay safe too bro. 🙏
Yeah -- I listened to FOABP and takes a nation of millions back in the early 90s and I liked it OK but it was always his voice that stuck with me...now in 2020 I listened to the rest and finally figured out that it is great fucking music with great musicians and braver words than you will find elsewhere. They've got it all, beautiful chord progressions, anger, musicianship, poetry. I'm sad it took me so long.
The greatest rap band in the history of existence. Promoting positivity, education and strength. I genuinely feel this band cut the line of racism in my family and laid a path of awareness for myself and those in my life. God bless Chuck D.
I think Wu tang are the greatest rap group ever created as well as outkast, so many great duos/groups you can't rank them all accordingly, just too good lol
I'm 31 going on 32 and I've literally only listened to progressive rock, metal and jazz for the last decade, but thanks to a fantastic local radio dj in the Tampa Bay area using this as his opening song I feel enlightened!
"Spitting riches, bitches, and this new thing about snitches Watch them asses move as the masses switches System dissed them but barely missed her My sole intention to save my brothers and sisters" Chuck's a fucking genius.
For information,I'm a Scottish Lass from Aberdeen,Scotland and have followed#Publicenemy since 80's...Chuck D et al have taught me so freaking much over the years and #Chuckds and PE writing is spot on..I know that Chuck likes to check out culture of everywhere they play and learn about the politics. They had and still have a hardcore set of fans in Aberdeen and everywhere in Scotland. He actually said at the Glasgow gig that he thought Scotland would be independent by now!!!!!.. Yep they have so many gifts and I am so very honoured to have found them when I did. They are true genuine highly talented and genius writers and musicians. THANK YOU PUBLIC ENEMY FOR LETTING YOUR FANS BE OURSELVES..with peace and love from Aberdeen!!✌❤💕
I've been listening to rap since 79' and I've NEVER heard HORNS blaze like that b4 in Hip-Hop! (Shout-out to Hank Shocklee & The Bombsquad). As long as there is injustice in this world P.E will STAY relevant! 💯
Brings me back to when I was 15 years old, me and my friends were up all night partying on a Friday night, wake up Saturday morning at my house and play EA skate 2 ALL DAY. What a great time in my life lol
End of Match movie , watch it, it`s worth it! Saw it yesterday and heard this g e n i u s track. I was flashed so hard as I heard that song for the very 1st time! How could I have missed it?!?
54, white father of four. Kickin' this now. Chuck's voice is like a stand-up bass. Get's your full attention every time he starts a verse. Top 10 all time rappers!
Any time I listen to this I remember there is someone out there with less than me and doing more with it than I am and I move my phat ass and get going. This song is for anyone who needs to hustle and get started. This song makes you feel like everything is possible, because actually. It is.
I was a teenager when PE came out & after “Shut Em Down” I sorta strayed away from their music....this is really good I’m glad I got turned onto this....thanks Huffy 👍 my man
You don't stand for something, you fall for anything Harder than you think, it's a beautiful thing quoted that a lot not many people recognize it That is a Damn Shame
***** You must be one of those wannabe thugs. I hope you're not talking about the same game I'm talking about. I'm not not talking about mortal combat dude, I'm talking about rap.
***** Yet as we speak n*ggas think it's cool to be a thug. 9/10 of the MCs on here rap about sex, money, drugs, and black on black genocide, that alone should tell you something is wrong with the game. Dude seriously, the only real rapper you mentioned is Kendrick Lamar, the rest are pretty much... lame or average. (Forgot about J.Cole). I take that back, just Kendrick.

+zm15 I was talking more about the political message of the song, the sociological and racial issues that are rapped about. I feel like this is what rap was originally for and now it's just full of overhyped egotistical dickheads with too much money. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy Drake from time to time.
MLB Spring Training 2014 commercial!!!!! Glad that the MLB has good taste in hip hop. One of their shows they have has the song Step into a World by KRS-One playing right before they get into a commercial break.
I was in Elementary When I first time I heard this and haven’t been the same since! I would listen this to this, X gonna give it you, Me and My Gang (masta ace) and Award Tour EVERY SINGLE day from 2010 till 2016! Those six years allowed be to be the person I am today!! Greats years of my life, Where I would a Playlist with some of the best songs ever, the years of discovering Hip Hop and myself

One of the best lines in music, “if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything, harder than you think is a beautiful thing”
All three verses are off the chain. I love the message of the last verse.
“Harder than you think is a beautiful thing” is what gets me 💪🏻
Chuck was way ahead of his time. 50 year old white guy here vibing with this. Peace.

Lakai Fully Flared, arguably one of the greatest skate videos of all time, is the source that brought me to public enemy. I am forever grateful

You gotta give these games credit for brining kids to great music like this.
"Fuck da Police but who's stopping YOU from killing me?"
Love that line!!
Fuck the police as a corrupt force... You may love an individual police or many of them, but their institution is fucked.
+Cam Champ better than having nothing, and it's no where near as corrupt as many other countries like Columbia.
+Cam Champ every force(💰) is corrupt, just look at the 2016 presidential nominees.
+Martin Duprey
That's what happens when the system is only there for the system itself, not for the citizens. Sad shit.
I remember when this album released. Still just as dope as ever.
You don't stand for something, you fall for anything
Harder than you think, it's a beautiful thing

Problem is, people are buying it. 'The game' clearly extends to the target audience, so something is seriously wrong!
Fizzoid Me personally, I don't buy that stuff, I listen to Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, Chuck D etc.
jmoney2620 Man, I'm STILL listening to Lupe's Food and Liquor album. One of my favourites.
Beat a 30 crack habit it took everything I had from me. I was living on the streets living stumbling into an early grave. I managed to quit get clean and get it all back. And let me tell you it’s harder than you think baby
This hits HARD! should be a billboard hit
