Hi Meggie, I am currently applying to JET this year and your video was great! I like that you recorded the process as it was happening. There is a lot of info (pos/neg) and it is hard not to get anxious about it. Your video was very reassuring and I cannot wait to get this over with!

Hey! I watched your videos before my JET application and honestly they helped reassure me so much, I have just been accepted for an interview and I am crazy nervous and stressed out haha. One more push and hopefully the next time I post on your channel it'll be confirmation for my place on the JET programme :)

I have my interview at the Calgary consulate in a week and a half! So nervous but thank you for the video! It made me feel a little less terrified haha.

I think the 'waiting' portion of these interviews is what makes it stressful!

Oh yea! The waiting is torture! But the application and interview is a breeze.

Thanks for the info. My friend from McGill did her interview and left for Japan with JET right around the same time you did. I'm considering applying. Again, thanks!

I also just got a notification for the interview stage. Got super nervous thinking about the interview that I don't think I'll be able to sleep for the next couple weeks. Thankfully, your experience wasn't as scary as what I've read so far. I just don't like the fact that I might be asked to sing :/ And when you meant Canadian achievements did you mean what Canada achieved historically or your achievements in Canada?

Songs are a part of the job with elementary schools. Hahah. You're considered a representative of your country with JET (Japan *EXCHANGE* and Teaching) so they just want to know that you have some understanding of your country and are able to share that. That's what they would've been hinting at with the Canadian achievement question. They know what I've done through the application.

Hi! just wondering, your nose piercing, did you not need to remove it for the interview? have you had to remove it during work while IN Japan? :) I have a lip piercing and am just curious since I am applying this year. Thanks

For the interview I thought it would be best to play it safe so I took it out and covered my hand tattoo with makeup. I do take it out during school hours but there have been days I forgot and didn't release until after my first class. My hand tattoo is subtle enough to not cover on the regular since it looks like something I wrote in pen (aka the few people who notice it don't think it's a tattoo) but I always wear my hair down at school to cover a tattoo behind my ear. Nobody has every said anything about any of it to me. I just try to not make a show of it or draw any attention to it.

I dunno if you’re gonna see this but do you know if the interview has to be in person?? I’m in Nova Scotia and I don’t think I can just fly out for an interview just to be denied.

You apply to your closest consulate. I believe there is one in Halifax so that's where you would have to go.

Hi Meggie - I'm also interested in the JET Programme and have submitted unsuccessful applications. :'( I was wondering if you, as a successful applicant to the JET programme would be willing to read my S.O.P and maybe give me some feedback?

I don't really have enough free time to read your statement personally. But I'd suggest MANY edits. I actually had to edit about 200 words out of what I thought was a good statement to fit the limit when copying it into my application. By the end, it was super clean, precise, and 3 times better than before. Cut out all filler and fluff and make sure you follow all the questions/guidelines they prompt you with. I have always had VERY structured essay writing in school and I think that style is good for the application. Good luck!
