      Edit for the tards that are incapable of reading the thread a bit, I was referring to pederasty, not homosexuality which was pretty firmly entrenched, but not necessarily condoned throughout Greek society. Maybe I received incorrect information, but I had read somewhere that pederasty was extremely taboo in Sparta, and that this was a major point of disagreement with the Athenians.

      "Gay people didn't exist in history, why can't men just be men again like the Spartans"
      Is the type of shit I see a lot by very dumb people and I live for it. But then they're that stupid that even if you show them evidence of it they deny it and still act ignorant and stupid.
      Still funny.

      Apparently the Spartan women had to shave their heads when they got married because the soldiers were so used to sleeping with men

    • @borgCube100
      @borgCube100 7 месяцев назад +7

      @@cerpintaxt362 It's not cause they were used to having sex with men - but literally SLEEPING with males in a barracks and all that jazz AND they used to dress up in "male attire" to be "stolen" away by the men as a proposition. But also due to men having a higher value in Spartan society, it's pretty much like a father "giving away" the bride in modern Christian and western culture.
      I really enjoyed researching that - little tid-bits like that make the world seem less blank.

      No they weren't gay. The rumors about them being homosexual comes from other big cities that disliked Sparta. Sure, there were homosexuals like in any society, but it wasn't normal or accepted. They even used the term "boy lover" as an insult, Athens called Spartans boy lovers, and Sparta called Athens the same.
