I'd like to see you do the "end" of a twinl size quilt, where you have advanced it and rolled it up on the take-up rolls. I want to see if you really do have enough throat space left to do your free motion quilting at the end. A friend of mine, who owns a huge Gammill, has advised me against purchasing a Moxie because of this limited space. For me, however, doing mostly lap size and twin size quilts I think a Moxie would work. BUT, I want to see how much room a twin takes when all rolled up. PLEASE show me!!
This is so great, I’m a long arm quilter. I have a Grace 15” and you are going to fill a need. I’m so glad you are doing this. I’m watching you on RUclips. I’ve been watching doing other things but this is really great. I’m an old dog 78 but never to old to learn new tricks
This was great. I am leaning toward buying one, so having these demonstrations of things I may not think of (like the amount of quilting space) is really helpful.
Love your new machine! Handiquilter had some tips on how to piece quilts, bags, and pillows on the longarm. Plus attach binding to the front of quilt. I do charity quilts; so, I'm really interested in that. I love the way you teach. I think you can help us learn these techniques better. One quilt needed the couching foot, but the other method was stitch and flip. Thanks.
Piecing and quilting on Moxie. For example with backing and batting loaded making pieced place mats or pillow covers. Would be fun to improv these or use jelly rolls to make.
Did you make a video on how you load your quilt? I finally know which way the leaders go thanks to your clear direction! I haven’t found the video on how to load the top.
You are just delightful. I've watched many of your videos and have subscribed. But definitely considering this machine. I have the sweet 16 sit down (purchased 2013) and was going to get the insight table for it. But this is a great price. thanks for this video.
Love my Moxie, got it up and running Dec 8th,2020. It is lightweight, quiet for a long arm, smooth, easy to use. I have quilted 2 queen size quilts and a lap quilt on it. If you are considering a long arm, go try one out at a local dealer. Watch Handi Quilter RUclips, they have some introductory videos. I bought mine at Stitched With Love McKinney TX. Great experience. Thank you Crafty Gemini, I enjoy your videos, and looking forward to some Moxie ruler videos.
Great video!! Love your instruction. ❤ I just bought a Moxie! It hasn't even been delivered yet. I'm going to start with FMQ and rulers. HQ does offer a robotics/computer system called Pro Stitcher Lite for the Moxie, so you can do computerized quilting. That is ~ $6K upgrade. I figured I can add this later if I want to go this route.
I appreciate you doing this, Vanessa. I have wanted to try this out for a cpl months, and I asked my local Handiquilter dealer if she has this, and she said no, not yet. Because, she says, whenever a new model comes out, after about six months, they will make adjustments on the model to tweak it up, based on the experiences of the first purchasers’ feedback. So she waits, to invest in the tweaked up model. There are some features on the Amara that I like that this one doesn’t have, but it’s half the price. So, there is that. • I would like to know how deep it extends from the wall, the way you have it set up? (You said it’s abt 8’ 5” wide.) • So, I think you said if you’re not going to use it for pantographs, you don’t need to get behind it. That’s good to know! • I was wondering if you would check, when playing with it, when just starting a new quilt, and not much is on the back rollers, what is the largest space front to back, that is open for quilting? (For example, 12”?) • And when you get to the opposite end of a standard length quilt, how small is open for quilting? (For example, 3”?) • And would you measure the width of the leaders? I’m thinking, based on what you said, about seven feet or 84” might be the max width of a quilt to fit on the 8’ wide frame? • I don’t usually make large quilts, but kind of would like the option, in case I want to make a gift for someone with a large bed, or if I ever decide I want to quilt other ppl’s quilts for a living. Just trying to count the whole cost of space and money, as well as how often I would use the larger sized frame. • How heavy is the machine itself, when putting up on the frame? ( 😂 Not all of us have Hercules arms from working out at the gym like you do!) (Sorry, forgot, all the gyms are closed. But I bet your arms are still pretty strong from working on the farm!) • Lastly, I hate it when watching a quilting video and they show about one minute of actual quilting and then move on, as if you saw enough to “get it.” I could watch quilting, for like an hour or more, and never get tired of it! I find it mesmerizing and I like to see the whole process of side to side and how much of the row of blocks you can get done and then how you go onto the next step to advance the quilt. But also how to connect to your previous quilting from the new area. And I think I speak for others when I say this, that they would like it too. Thanks again for doing this. Wish I had mine and could learn alongside you!
Yes loading the quilt and I don’t understand how to tie off the thread. And how to advance. I know your not interested in pantagon but I prefer it. Would like tutorials on that!
I am considering buying a Moxie. It seems like the perfect solution for me as I am only interested in quilting my own projects. I am very interested in your video on the foot print. Love your videos!
Vanessa, at time stamp 37:26 you put on the channel lock and did a straight horizontal line of sewing. I must say, the sound of those stitches was so soothing. Much like a lawn mower in the summer, one of my favorite sounds. I know I'm weird but its true. Looking forward to all the videos you have planned. Tell me, does a long arm have other uses or is it strictly for quilting quilts?
Vanessa....Did you do a video yet showing how to navigate the screen on the Moxie? I can't find anything to help me learn that....just got the machine. Appreciate any assistance.
I have the Grace Qnique 21 Pro. Grace has great customer service but Handiquilter is 24/7. Long story but I would do Handiquilter if I had to do it again. I bought a floor model Dream Quilter 15 and it was a horrible experience. I am happy with the Qnique 21 Pro so far (upgraded from disaster machine.) DON'T BUY A FLOOR MODEL.
This isn’t about the long arm, but since you are such an amazing teacher I have a suggestion. The baskets that people are making with the farm embroidery designs from juju designs really need a good tutorial. There are many people who are asking because they learn from watching videos. I think if you did one it would help a lot of people. I know you are busy so I understand if you can’t do this, just wanted to put it out there if you have time. Love all of your videos.
Congratulations ! It’s an expensive machine to get for personal use only. How lucky are you ? :) A couple of things .... machine is very loud ! The other thing is that I find myself forwarding the video because sometimes dialogue is so repetitive. Other times, you get very talking, towards the end of video. I know it’s hard maintaining balance . I understand.

I’d love for you to continue a beginners series for the Moxie. I’ll be getting one soon and I’m trying to absorb everything. ❤

Love your energy and "dive right in" attitude. Enjoy watching you quilt even though I'm not in the market for a long arm at this time.
So informative. Love your Moxie. Thanks Vanessa.
Catching the replay, thanks Vanessa! Loved the video on you assembling the new long arm & look forward to watching you quilt your projects.

Watching from Calif love your Wednesday show.
I am considering buying a Moxie. It seems like the perfect solution for me as I am only interested in quilting my own projects. I am very interested in your video on the foot print. Love your videos!
Very intriguing- would you be able to easily put it up & take it down? I don’t really have the space to leave it up at all times.

Me too I just got a Moxie
So how much did everything cost and how much space do you need
I would love to see ruler work on the long arm
Hello from El Paso, Texas!
I would like to see the couching foot in use.
How did you decide on this particular machine?
Does the wheel lock come with it or is it an optional accessory?
It comes with it.
I have a sit down machine. Can I just get the frame and put my machine in it?
Nice
