    I am living in Prince George and it is a lovely place. It is a city having a population of around 80000. I find the people here very friendly. I love my university UNBC - it is small and beautiful, at the top of a mountain. There are many trails connecting the university to the downtown. I love hiking through the trails. I have always lived in big cities in India, but not really a fan of big buildings and a lot of concrete. I always dreamt of living in a place having a lot of greens, houses having peaked roofs and surrounded by mountains. I love Prince George.

    We do have a cross country railroad, it's mostly used for cargo though ... it was inaugurated in 1881. It was a priority at that time because our government was afraid that the USA would take possession of the western part of Canada.
    In Canada, the distances are so huge and the population is so small that passenger traffic is limited ... VIA Rail operates passenger traffic across the country. However, most people prefer to fly because it's much faster than using a train.

    I think there are a couple of reasons you haven't a high speed train: 1) distance - it is too far from one coast to other. Even fast train would go 30 hours and the price could ever be higher than by plane (see Amtrak prices), 2) technical problems with building the tunnels, as you brought up, 3) snowfalls. In this light planes seem to be a better mean of transportation.

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I think the snow would be a serious factor. We need a hyperloop. Have you seen that?

    Large cities such as greater Toronto and greater Vancouver are very expensive to live. If you don't want to pay incredible rents or incredibly high mortgages, then you had better not think about living in those two urban areas I have just mentioned.

    Hi Mark, is it true that the rich people in Canada prefer to live in the small towns or the villages, while more and more urban poor groups dwell in the cities there? In China’s big cities especially in Peking and Shanghai, the similar phenomenon of “the rich are escaping from cities” has been observed by thinkers. Thanks and blessings! Tom

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  5 лет назад +1

      Rich people usually live in the suburbs and have big houses. I think most small town people are middle class. Some farmers are very rich.

I wonder how do farmers do in Canada? Can they easily get cheap loanmoney to work, and how much the gas is? Altona looks almost like the town I live in... 4000 ppl. Yes, Canada is a bit isolated. Haha. But Vancouver is the one of the most connected places in Canada because there are so many direct flights to Asia and Europe.

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 лет назад +1

      In North America, we don't have villages. If a town has more than 10,000 people, it's considered a city.

    • @ottovonostrovo1486
      @ottovonostrovo1486 6 лет назад +2

      There were ~550 villages in Canada. A village is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town, with a population ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. A town is smaller than a city.
