How was she not immediately taken into custody and put in the brig?! And how does she allowed to free roam?!
Cuz they got bigger fish to fry
Lmao😂😂😂😂😂
Don't be alarmed Mark it's only a drill. Just sit down and I'll power through.
AhahahahahHhahahaha
*From running a bank to being in charge of a nuclear submarine, Johnson sure is doing well for himself.*
Lmao😂😂😂😂😂
Chance would be a fine thing
and he did really well in that episode of The Weakest Link in the 201st Century
Why the hell is she saying no, she can’t stop a launch 😂😂😂
I have never seen this show and have no idea what is going on, but as an actual real life Sailor, this is exactly why civilians are not allowed on submarines and why the control center is pass-code locked and restricted. Military assets are civilian controlled, and those onboard follow direct official order. There are incredibly intense protocols and procedures followed to ensure reliability, accuracy, and positive execution. This is way more dramatic than it would be in real life and it's likely that any type of response would have gotten her a one way ticket to a restricted area, far away from the operations center.
She’s a DCI there to complete a murder investigation, I think she’s got unrestricted access to the submarine
That's why it's an entertainment drama, not a documentary. What's next, the corridors are too wide?
@@Shookbanglol never seen the show, but she would be escorted where-ever she went. Very few people, even Sailors, have unrestricted access. The CO and XO and maybe a few other individuals.
@@SkydivingSquid the XO was meant to be escorting her everywhere but I think Becuase of the training that she didn’t know about she panicked and thought they were actually going to fire
Who the hell power slammed her into a wall is what I'm wondering.
Dude stuck out his arm and everything!😂
you can tell they did 0 consulting for this show on how a submarine really is
They were to busy coming with ways on how to make this actor act as dumb as possible
That alarm would be heard by any enemy submarine around...
i reckon the nuclear missiles are probably louder
poor me, poor me, pour me another drink
Frankfwort
Remember the Johnson
Atmosphere?
They let her freak out and tried to physically restrain her rather than just telling her it's a drill? X to doubt
🤦🏻♂️
That is because you treat every action station as if it were real. That is the only way it works. There are only three people on a fleet ballistic missile sub that know if something is real or not and they do not even know until the last possible minute.
"Yes, this is just a drill, folks. So let's just all sit down and have a nice cup of tea until that bloody alarm stops".
Is that normal pooing? It doesn't smell like normal pooing.
Red Dwarf used to be a lot funnier than this. What Happened?
That's gotta be one hell of a sub with all that empty space 😜
Acutally the Los Angeles Class FBMs are about that spacious. Do not confuse this sub with something like the WWII sub that you saw in Das Boot. Different time and totally different type of sub.
Just weak design. It's pretty common that the designer's idea of research was merely watching 'Hunt for Red October' and 'Crimson Tide'!
@@John_Henry83 no there not😂.
If you guys think about it, this whole show is pretty much Among US
2 temporada por favor . Que serie maravilhosa. I love you Surrane e Leslie .
I really hope we get some behind the scenes after this show completes. The set design is really cool (at a far larger scale than a real sub I'm pretty sure, but they did the same for the tanks in Fury too) and while the premise is a little fantastical (civvies on an active nuke sub? No chance haha) it's a brilliant drama setting and the team and crew are crafting something brilliant here!
I agree. BBC and HBO have set design that are on par with theatrical releases.
@@travlishallingquest5719 The set designers has created an environment that looks nothing like an actual submarine. The missiles are in big red numbered tubes with Radiation stickers on them ffs! It looks more like Thunderbirds!
@@indigohammer5732 You are correct. I am merely commenting on the quality of the design.
@@travlishallingquest5719 Yeah! It's a pantomime
@@indigohammer5732 I doubt they’re allowed to make it look more realistic though.
This would never happen on a submarine, when a launch order is given everyone knows and has been trained to act ,
1:44 Damnit, Johnson, don't be an ass!
Great series,
hilarious reading the comments from all the Admirals of the Royal Navy-who knew there were so many!
No, but from those of us actually in the Navy who deal with this stuff, this scene is laughable. Never seen the show so I have no idea what is going on, but wtf?
@@SkydivingSquid If you can't suspend your disbelief for a TV show then I seriously hope you are not allowed anywhere near our subs, you're too immature.
Yeah right, some hysterical girl aimlessly running around a nuclear submarine interfering with a missile launch. 🤣
Submarine is way too spacious 😂
Also way to modern for a trident 😂
@@theoschofield1495 that’s the missile dude
yes i know and they call the submarines trident submarines since they hold tridents@@ElizabethII-1952
@@theoschofield1495 Only idiots and TV reporters call them trident submarines, they are Vanguard-class submarines and they are modern enough.
@@krashd I don’t mean the submarine is called trident, i know that but saying ‘a trident submarine’ is correct as well as calling it by its actual name because they hold tridents

There would have been armed guards guarding the control room she would have never ever made it that close.
That would get her off the boat for good.
@@alanhigh8125 That was what I was thinking, in war time, yes. In peace time, this shit would hit the fan!
However this is not realistic as she would have been briefed as to the drills and need to know events on board the ship. I find it hard that as she was on the boat she would have not been briefed that there was a such a drill planned. She would have told what would be the no go areas, and especially on such an important event. [ I further think she would have been physiologically profiled as to whether she could emotionally cope in such as stressful situation as being on an operation nuclear submarine tasked to launch nuclear weapons. Clearly a SNAFU! Some-one fucked in their profiling, and so some-one is going to take the can...]
Not only would she be severely remanded, but likely banned from boarding any naval ship ever more. I would think the captain would also be held responsible, as well as the crew member assign to her; and who ever from the MOD thought it was a great idea allowing her on board. Being military ever onboard would go into CYA mode... Cover Your Arse...!
Anyway...what ever the BBC need to do to get your clickbait.....
@UCZiIeZa9eGekJwvuP64GRXg Valid point. I think in the vetting process to allow her on board, it would have been made expressly clear to her that the purpose of this submarine is to be a MAD deterrence, which means once it submerges it at a war footing and so can and will launch nuclear weapons if and when ordered.
I do have a question though, what happens if a crew member has a nervous breakdown and needs to be restrained and the submarine has started it's tour and will be submerged for 90 days? Would they continue with the mission, or would they break radio silence and arrange for the crew member to offloaded?
@@hypercomms2001
The only SNAFU was commissioning the series in the first place. Dreadful plot, dreadful characters ... even the actors look embarrassed.
It's so awful it's awesome!
A must watch if only to see what catastrophe happens next 😂.
The cook's been murdered so now they're all going to starve ... I'm going to predict a "cannibalism" episode.
It's about the only topic the writer has yet to explore.
Roll on next Sunday!
@@hypercomms2001 It was a specific point in the plot that she wasn't briefed on this drill specifically because they didn't like her
That's bollocks Mark!
To borrow a quote from WarGames, she thought it was the real deal!
wtf is she doing?
DEFUNDTHEBBC
He would have launched too. If only this wireless printer would work.
Worst submarine set ever, by a billion miles, totally ruins the whole thing.
Chance would be a fine thing
Is that normal pooing your doing?
Una pregunta a algún marinero en verdad los submarinos son tan amplios siempre creí que era más estrechos.
God damn Johnson really got it
I’d be like “can I get a cappuccino and can I pull the trigger and turn that damn buzzer off”
Well this looks jolly exciting, 2 years ago, is this still available ? And I'm in New Zealand so is this available ?
On a trident sub you don't all doors at once you launch then let sub equalize balance you would never open all door on the Solos
this has to be prank of the year lol it was cruel
Not exacly close to reality. Not even next door to it.
Aside from the looney running around and op sec doing diddly. That’s way too much noise on a sub. Like that alarm is basically asking to be found
Well Uk submarines are not that size! You spent half your life at Rosyth with back ache moving about them
Just another day at the office
This is from a 'Cop show' after a murder on a nuclear sub. (For all those who are making querulous comments.)
Is that....normal poo you're doing mark?
I really would love to see Paterson as 14.
I take it some people watched the submarine documentary last night?
Is it just me but was there a "slightly" more realistic feel to the C5 offering?
Suspect the writer of Vigil is wishing they had waited a few months.
Vigil's captain seems a tad aloof whilst the documentary's captain appears a tad more hands on.
And without the fixed monomaniacal stare but with the filthy white sweater and scruffy beard.
The terrible end of a mistake, what if the missiles left their silos? We thought it was a drill?..this is all it takes....to end everything 😮
Im sorry, did he lightly bump her while walking past and did she immediately hit her head so hard she started bleeding? Ive bumped into people with more force than that. Ive had people bump into me with more force than that. Is the silo covered in knives?
i'm pretty sure she hit her head on the corner of the box on the silo - it probably split open her skin
Women..duh.
THIS IS BOLLOCKS MARK!
Middle class waking up? Doubt it.
Johnson?!
So much promise squandered.
Modern dramas demand realism, and if our naval personnel and senior police officers behave this way, then we’re all doomed.
The scenes within my knowledge sphere are crass and unrealistic.
Poor effort lacking essential research.
No it was spot on. Remember, a sub needs klaxons blaring & tannoy announcements during it's most critical & vulnerable phase of operations. You wouldn't want enemy subs to not know where you are would you? Utter Dreck.
Is she supposed to be a civilian? Why she acting crazy?
She's a police detective sent to the nuclear submarine for 3 days, to investigate the suspicious death of a naval officer. It's a big Navy cover up to do with nuclear missiles - 'natch!
@@glamdolly30
Got it, Thank you.
@@gearriewest3302 'Vigil' is available on the BBC iplayer right now, currently up to episode 4 of 6, I think. I've watched the first two episodes and it's quite entertaining, if you're strapped for something to watch I recommend it - so far!
I just started watching this on the BBC iplayer. It's written and produced by the team behind 'Line of Duty', and it shows, very similar style and plotting. It's obviously a formula that works but I'm a bit bored of it, and I'm not sure how much more mileage it has. Not a fan of the lead actor Suranne Jones either, she's the same in every role she plays. This could be exactly the same character she played in an earlier BBC drama 'Dr Foster'.
I didn't know the RN's subs carried living ballast now, what a dead weight
