It winds me RIGHT up! At least when he responds to the haters, he responds with dignity and class...by posting a gem like this. Not much to hate about him! He is talented beyond words, has a good spirit and loves what he does. I guess some ppl just don't like that he is back because he has won before. I hope he get the recognition that he deserves! Go Norway! :D
Very very well said!! Alexander is so classy and giving and such a good sport, and it's very clear he puts a lot of love into everything he does! I read a comment on his song that said something like, "He's a Eurovision legend, so why would he come back to become a Eurovision failure?" and I couldn't help reminding them that people who are 'legendary' at something obviously have a passion for it, so why would they stop forever after earning a title? (Not to mention he hasn't failed at all yet, haha.) Alexander is clearly back because he loves ESC, not because he expects to be the champion again, and he absolutely deserves to be back!! Norway absolutely has my vote this year!
Easy russian estrada money (hanging out with Lazarev, Bilan, Kirkorov), getting easy cash from private shows got the best of his songwriting talent. Not hating his ESC song, but isn't it alarming that he truly shines via other people's songs (just like with the MGP final ones).
When I was about 7 years old I saw someone playing the violin on television; I've been intrigued with the instrument ever since and started taking lessons soon after (despite my angry stepmother trying to prevent me from learning it)...and now....when I see you play it, the passion is revived even more than ever. I am so glad my dad allowed me to start taking lessons against my stepmother's wishes. I'll never forget the joyous smell of rosin when starting my lessons or hiding from my violin teacher in the bathroom because I thought I had broken my violin permanently when a string broke for the first time. Even though I cannot play like you, maestro; I can understand from a musical standpoint the extreme amount of work you have put in to get this far. I applaud thee for it and also your parents for giving you the support and structure to lay the groundwork to achieve such mastery over this amazing instrument. Also, your proficiency at balancing theory with feeling in music is completely awe-inspiring. Thanks for keeping my musical spirit revived and alive. You just cannot imagine how much you have helped.
I love how he *feels* the music, he dance while playing. He's so in to it, I love the fact that no matter who you are you can tell he loves playing the Violin.
Three years late, but I couldn’t help but say how enchanted I am by Alexander’s talent. I still look for words to correctly express what I feel when I hear him play his violin. It’s beyond satisfying to see how he manages to add even more value to the songs and how they look better with what he creates. I would like to understand music in a more complex way, but for me, something hits different and beautifully from 3:13 to 5:17 (the last three songs). It’s touching, delicate and exciting. I’m really glad to have discovered such an amazing artist. Rybak has all my admiration.
