I love his little hands! It's just like a human hand only furrier in the way that it moves. Like he balls it up and waves em around. So cute! I'm not weird, It's just his hands look like a little persons!
They must not have much sense of feeling in the hands because he missed a piece. He could smell it and knew it was there somewhere but kept standing on it. I thought he was saving a big piece for last but who knows. I guess I learned something new today,,, maybe. :)
You should feed him espilac which is a puppy replacement milk and you can add a little whipping cream to it every 2-3 hours. After a while when he can lap they can be fed plain yogurt and baby food plus the formula. This diet came from a wildlife rehaber whose favorite animal is the opossum and has raised over 100 babies! I have a little guy now he has been traveling around with me wherever I go in a purse with blankets or in my shirt and no one knows i have him.
It's also about the ability of the owner to raise them properly and safely. Domesticated cats and dogs are culturally ingrained, and have been selectively bred for a safer temperament. I think some non-traditional animals have been given pet status though, like skunks. Not all individuals of the same species act the same. Raccoon seem very hit and miss with behavior. I know a girl whose aunt was a baby when a raccoon was brought into the house and it tried to eat her.
Oh my gawwwwd, sweetest face ever😻 I would be running around the house like "let me love yeeeew adorable possum. I just wanna hold you forever sweet possum🤗. Lemme paint your tiny toenails pink lil possum🐾".
Yup, I know. And I agree. But no one ever said laws made sense. I think it was because people were capturing wild animals and keeping them as pets for fun. Then when they saw the animal wasn't as "fun" as they thought they abandoned them and left them to die. I think in a left handed way the law was made to protect animals, but it's kind of a weird way of going about it. Oh well. I live in a very rural area though so I'll keep a wild animal if I gee dee want to! lol
You mean that someone got past the stereotype and saw a possum for what it really is? Possums are docile and, if you leave them alone, harmless. They RARELY carry rabies. Some people DO keep them, but you have to be a dedicated person to be able to cope with a possum's needs.
I am making educated guesses, though. There may be other reasons for these laws. Personally, there are species that I think can be pets. I would love to raise sparrows. Most of the sparrows in the states are native to the US, so technically you can't legally raise them I think. But truthfully, I think successful owners will not be bothered by the police, because they will never find out except for dangerous, unhappy, or endangered pets. It does mean you can't take them to the vet though.
Some laws about owning wildlife are specifically to protect the native species from trafficking and the like. For instance, you cannot own native song birds in the USA, including native crows. You can own an African crow I believe. With these laws, it is much easier to make a blanket law about all wildlife or all native wildlife than to pick and choose species. Thus the opossum is included.
Yes, but it's impossible to consider the wild species individually: thus a blanket law. While animals not needing protection will be included, it would be worse for species to not have protection from trafficking when it's needed, due to unaware law makers. Removal of endangered animals(often popular exotic pets)has an impact on both individuals and wild breeding populations. Also, temperament is diverse and harder rear than domestic species: a blanket law protect them from inexperienced owners.
like Red Skelton's Freddy the Freeloader: he's a little bit of you, a little bit of me, a little bit of all of us. He doesn't ask anybody to provide for him, because it would be taking away from you, nor does he ask for equal rights if it would give up some of yours.
since opossums are omnivores it is easy to give them the proper diet for their species.....not too much protein is essential for proper bone development....... they love cockroaches or dubia roaches, meal worms, overripe fruit, applesauce, eggs raw or cooked, lots of water, occasional fruit juice, fish, crawdads, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, bananas etc........ Don't give them dairy and only a small percentage of their diet should be meat...
I think it's just easier to blanket ban things than to regulate them. If we're going to ban animals from being kept as pets for their safety, then we should have outlawed dogs and cats a long time ago since they're abused more than any other pet, and the amount of unwanted ones in the shelters shows they're unsuitable pets for millions of people.
DUDE, POSSUMS ARE JUST PLAIN WIERD ANIMALS!!! My dog killed one in our yard last night. Poor little thing was a mama with tiny hairless babies. I dont know if they were hanging out of her pouch or what but the poor things were dying as thier mam was dead. I gave the possum family a proper burial in the woods this morning. My dog was just being a dog, but I dont understand why a possum would tread thru a yard with a huge husky shepperd mix?!
I looove the sound he makes while he's chewing the cookie, you can almost smell how taisty it was!!! Soo cute!!! 👍😉😍
I'm usually repulsed by people chewing with their mouth open, but this opossum chewing was like music to my ears. I feel like a biscuit now. :)
I would have cut the cookie into smaller pieces for him.
@@susangreene6105i would cut you into smaller pieces
@@TreeAtmos.was there really any reason you had to say that??? It was simply a suggestion nothing more

They're adorable, except when angry. On the other hand, let's face it, what creature (including humans) is adorable when angry?

He makes alot of noise, very cute
Possums are one of the easiest pets to keep simply because they eat all the same shit you eat.
I want one😕 It's little hands are soooooo cute💗

Im sorry for your loss. I hope it lived a long and happy life before it rested
Thank you she did. she was a good one.
oh my god... I want one! so cute :D

so are they like vegaterians? Or just only when you pet them.
your cat is funny
so cute your possum.
I love possoms! =^D
opossums are cute.. they have pouches for their babies like kangaroos.
like Red Skelton's Freddy the Freeloader: he's a little bit of you, a little bit of me, a little bit of all of us. He doesn't ask anybody to provide for him, because it would be taking away from you, nor does he ask for equal rights if it would give up some of yours.
That's Awesome
Wow so cute , i wanna have one !!! but my country we don't have it :(
So cute ^_^
Que lindo

I have 'bout the same table manners ;-)
Mmmm... Ritz hydrogenated oils. Probably made the opossum's expected 3 to 4 years more like 2 years.
I never see possums drinking

and yet they are slow and unresponsive :/
Raccoons are by far more interesting, though they are destructive as hell.
they're cute, but the only thing that bothers me is when they open their mouths so wide, it's so creepy looking haha. where did you guys get yours?
