As a Black man. I didn't appreciate that from the mayor. When you do that. You minimize real discrimination.
I wonder if someone asks him to go pick cotton in the fields if he will respond with a solution on rent control 😂
@@barronvonschneider2834 😂😂😂
The Supreme Court just showed us what they think and are willing to do about "real discrimination".
Absolutely!! Great point.
@@xman9190 Yes no race involved in college acceptance. As it should be. On merit.
I’m black and she wasn’t being racist or condescending. She’s pissed about rent increases as broken promises. This is a big problem for seniors on fixed income. I want to speak the same exact way to the heads of California!
The kind of black people who think like Adams are the 1970s bigots George Jefferson and his maid “Florence”, who campaigned against Trump during the 2020 elections. Both individuals were just like Adams. I’m sure MANY folks in the black communities TOOK LESSONS from George Jefferson!!!
The situation is SO bad in the black community, that the ultra-black people won’t associate with those of medium skin tone, and the medium skin toned people pretty much consider the lightest skin toned black people “too white!”
It’s so SENSELESS.
that's the spirit. We need more anger against those abuses/bad circumstances.
Pants on fire
Elected officials in California from Municipal all the way up to state-level are damn idiots! It appears that only stupid people are running for public office.
It’s a shame that this is a black man’s response to an adult asking a genuine question for people like me!!
Did you listen to how she addressed him? I don't like him and I thought she was wrong. So where was this lady in addressing problems with rent when Bloomberg was Mayor? Now could the Mayor have done a better job in controlling his feelings yes. Regardless, he's not wrong for how he felt when she down-talked him. She wasn't trying to have dialog she was being aggressive and belligerent and her being elderly is not an excuse. That man's position is the Mayor and he deserves respect for holding the position. I didn't support George Bush but when I met him I still addressed him as Mr. President with a yes sir. She came off like he created her problems. Those problems were around before this guy was out of high school. She should have attempted to speak with respect and ask what direction the Mayor's office was going to take on coming up with solutions for the problem. Thinking you can fix a problem by starting an argument is foolish. I'm Done.
Wow, I am a senior, I lost my husband after 48 years, my son let me move in with him and his two daughters. I can not afford to live on my own! Seniors have been greatly affected by inflation in all costs, housing, food, utilities. I love to see that man live on what she lives on! There are more seniors being made homeless today than any other time!
Respect that he deserves?? Worst mayor we ever had, he thinks so highly of himself
I think certain politicians deserve respect because of what they've accomplished or what's happened to them. There is a lot of nuance, but after a while what's happened to them is not as much of a factor depending on what's going on around them.

It wasn't what she said, but how she said it. I'd need more context to determine whether she is truly racist or not, but she is undeniably condescending. I can easily see why he would compare her manner of speaking to that of a slave-owner.
And for the record I'm black too.
If you can't answered a simple question then don't be mayor, is that simple!! Give it to someone who really wants to help it's own citizens.
The way she spoke to him was disrespectful, she had to be checked on that and I'm glad that he did that. There's a way to get her point across to Eric without the vicious finger-pointing and raised voices. When a white person starts yelling and finger-pointing at a black person then everything is out of the window and out of bounds. This is Karen-like behavior even though the old lady probably had valid concerns but the manner in which she put her points across was lost in translation.

You don't have the seat of power, privilege, and a clean voice that can get loud , calm, and have the last say like Adams did as he mischaracterized and belittled this woman. These are citizens he is supposed to be representing, and he chooses to talk down to them as a tyrant, not the other way around. Why do you choose to see skin color ahead of job priority, duty, and welfare?
@@thelordofpainandsuffering8480 this is New York City a lot of New Yorkers of all races get attitudes when they are upset, if adams is so wounded by white people he never should have campaigned to be mayor, Obama understood this and put up with a lot more crap. Adams could have put in a rent freeze like debasio did a few times he didn’t and doesn’t want to because he owns real estate and got defensive when called on for not taking action and if her behavior was a Karen move then adams behavior (considering he is a landlord) was a trump move getting defensive and nasty. Being mayor of New York is a tough job that woman’s attitude is part of the job if Adams can’t handle that without responding like a wounded black man being picked on( try to remember who is in the power position here which makes his victim behavior ridiculous) he has no business being mayor and I hope New Yorkers show some sense next election and do what I did and not vote for him and vote for a real democrat not a democrat lite like adams who have stated several times he admires bloomberg and how he ran the city.

Those are interesting additions to the story. More context.
And the mayor was supposed to know all this just by looking at the woman? So she has Jewish antecedents so I guess that means she can't be racist.
Adams treated her in a condescending manner, and deserves true karma.
Yes, he deserves the same karma you do.
You ready to reap it and get what you deserve?
So listen if you think he was condescending than what was she? I didn't see him start off the conversation attacking her. I think she was upset and got out of line first. If he felt as though she was talking down to him then maybe she should realize that she has to be more controlled in her grievance to be heard. As a BLACK MAN, I deal with it daily. It was about her tone and aggression not what she said. It’s funny how y’all spinners that like Fox News.
@@KBTS411 Thin skinned anyone!!!!!!! Nothing to do with colour.
@@KBTS411 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 nice
I wouldn’t know what Fox is doing and the reason for his decision to focus on the tone of her charge rather than the substance is as transparent as yours.
He doesn’t have dick for a response so why not see if some buzzwords will make for a good sound bite/YT clip and maybe get some NPCs in the audience to applaud?
@@KBTS411 She has not sworn to uphold any duties or required to extend any professional courtesy to him, he is. You both fail!
You earn respect period and he has not earned it!
I saw this a while ago and was shocked. Shocked by the Mayor’s flunkies clapping at his remarks. I voted for
Eric Adams, but, will never make that mistake again. Are you telling me that our newly elected Mayor can’t handle a short, elderly woman worried about whether or not she will be able to afford her home. If the Mayor
really wanted “respect” he should have been standing instead of sitting. She had a legitimate question and he did not address is except with a racist remark, which got him out of having to answer her or assure her.
RESPECT is EARNED NOT FREELY GIVEN!
