    What a brilliant tutorial. Looked so easy when you did it.

    Brilliant - I’ve seen many a Dogs Breakfast but that one looked Tasty😉 You Explained and Demonstrated that, Almost well enough for me to understand, I shall watch it A couple more times before I have a go. Many thanks Steve 👍🏻

      Hi. Thanks for watching and your nice comments. It’s fun having a go at upgrades like this on older models. I wish I was better at it frankly. My advice for what it’s worth is, have a go on an old simple low value model. Use that as a test bed to make your mistakes. The buzz from getting it to work is worth it.
      Regards…. Steve👍

    Always great to watch Steve. Interesting how you negotiated the red and white lights. Think the headcode domino markers would have light dim white too.

    • @route7railway567
      @route7railway567  Год назад

      Hi John. Thanks for watching. Yes, I did think about lighting the domino but thought it might get a little busy in side that body.
      Having said that if I set the loco to run in one direction with a rake. I could simplify the lighting at each end which might make it easier to do the domino.
      I could also fit a crew.
      This could be a little video project in itself.
      👍👍

    For me this couldn't have been a better video, I have a fleet of five Lima Deltics that I am upgrading, repainting and renaming and i was really wondering how to fit lights to them so it came just at the right time. I've never fitted lights before so I shall have to watch it a few more times. Could you tell me what LED lights you use please. Thanks very much.

      Hi Alfie…. Thanks for watching. I’m glad you found the video useful.
      It occurred to me whilst replying to my friend John from Piccadilly, that if you are happy to set the locomotives up to run coupled in one direction it may make the job simpler. And a crew can be fitted.
      I think I’ll do a video suggesting that project.
      Regards … Steve 👍

    Hi Steve. Love this video and thank you for not only sharing it but also explaining how they work. I have a Lima 'Meld' which was bought for me by my Dad when I was a young kid. Slightly different as the original loco has lights as you were originally going to put them in. So I will need to get some bi-colour lights for it. I run DC so that will be fine I am guessing as yours is also the old Lima model. BTW mine tends to 'growl' as she's running. She's been serviced thoroughly with oil used sparingly though. But I've always liked it coz it sounds a bit like the original loco. Anyway, thanks again, keep safe and happy modelling 😊

    what resistor did you use because I would like to do a similar thing with my HST and my DELTIC . I only use DC though. I can't be doing DCC I'm just not interested in it that's my personal feelings anyway

      Hi …. Thanks for watching. The LED’s I use already have a resistor in them. The Lima deltic in the video is dc, so no problem for your layout.

      Google… Rapid Electronics
      They are 2mm tower LED’s
      They do various colours and also bi-colour version as well.
      The web site is a bit fiddly so make sure you pick the 12v ones and not the lower voltage type.
      Hope this helps 😊

    Hi Steve.. just wondering what are the LED's that you use for these? do you have an eBay link or something so we can find and purchase these, I can only find round normal LED's. I am in Melbourne Australia.. I have read in other comments others have asked the same question but you do not answer them but do answer other questions within their questions...

    • @route7railway567
      @route7railway567  Год назад +1

      Hi Tim. Apologies for not replying. The LED’s are 2mm 12v tower LED’s. I got them online. I will message you with the details in another reply. You can get them on eBay but they are expensive. Bear with me I’ll look up the info for you.

      Hi Tim. The company is Rapid Electronics. They do 5v and 12v single and bi colour LED’s. They might be out of stock of 12v ones at the moment but you can set up a notification when they get mor in. You can buy them in 25/50’s or more. Hope this helps. Let me know if you find them.

    Why would you fit something to a loco that never had it? You say you couldn't find a pic of the loco with white/red light? Did it ever occur to think you couldn't find it because it never existed in the first place? I've seen far too many locos ruined by people adding things they never had, admittedly the old Lima Models lacked the basic lighting but I'd never add something thsybsimply didn't happen. High intensity headlight didnt come into regular practice until years after the Deltics were withdrawn from service, those fitted now are because they have mainline certificates and it's a safety group standard that locos have them. You've got great ideas of that there's no doubt, but I suggest research first

    • @route7railway567
      @route7railway567  Год назад +1

      Like you said yourself old Deltics that are preserved and are used on mainline have lights. Even Accurascale have produced 55’s in various liveries with lights.
      Surely we can take a little poetic licence with our modelling. After all the original Deltics were not made out of scale like oo depicts.
      The video is meant to be fun and to inspire others to have a go.
      I did find photos of Deltics with similar lighting so I don’t think it is too much of a stretch to fit lights as a representation of an actual loco. The Royal Scots Grey in reality was fitted with modern lighting.
      Thanks for watching
      Regards… Steve 👍
