- [Link in description] A brand new 1958 Martin Committee? Basically! Check out the newest addition to my collection, which sat in a closet for 60 years! This horn was donated to a school music program, but it's not a great horn for a student to actually use, so we were able to work out a trade for some great instruments that will serve that program well for years to come.
As soon as I saw the case, and in such good condition, I knew this was going to be a nice horn. But the case was filled with so many other goodies as well, mutes, a stand, and some other cool ephemera. I only have one other vintage instrument with the full kit, so I decided to keep this for my collection. Just goes to show that there are still some wonderful finds still out there!
I don't like to use the word "mint" too freely but this horn is actually in mint condition! The valves have perfect compression, the lacquer looks like it just came home from the showroom. Martin Committees aren't the easiest horns to play, and this one has all those funky intonation tendencies. Still, quite a fun horn to play! Such a creamy sound.
We try to keep a couple Martin horns in stock at the shop (the Martin Handcraft Imperial is actually one of my favorite vintage horns) so check this link to see what we have at the moment: www.austincust...
And of course we have TONS more goodies at www.austincust...

Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
The coolest time capsule ever. I’d never seen such a new Committee.
yeah it's pretty sweet!
So good to donate instruments in exchange for this horn. ++
it's the right thing to do!
This is just so cool.
Nice.
Many years ago I acquired a near time capsule silverplated 1920s Conn 2B Trumpet, the silver plating was tarnished but the horn itself was in almost immaculate shape minus a few dings. The green plush interior of the vintage case was non musty and in good shape. The Conn 2B came with the very rare booklet from the Conn company and the booklet even had a small key to open the pamphlet.
stunning.
Man, that's pure velvet tone 😍
Reminds me of my 1956 Committee Deluxe. I have some of the same paperwork in a sealed bag due to the mildew and mold that was in the case which was a science project that had to be discarded. Horn was repaired and re lacquered by OSMUN.
It doesn't remind me at all about your horn. It sounds exactly opposite actually.
What a cool find!
I follow your rule now and it's "one in, one out" in my collection. I missed out on a similar Committee time capsule a few years ago. It was a cornet though, and it sold for £150. I was overseas at the time. When I got back I had missed it, but it turned out I knew the seller. His dad had bought it just when the jazz fashion here was moving to trumpet so he only played it a few times, then put it in storage. Quite incredible. One day I will find another one.
Hey Trent! Saw you play at the UNH Clark Terry festival this weekend and I gotta say it was a blessing. Thanks for the show!
Oh wow thank you! What an honor it was to be there. Thank you for making my day! Viva CT!
