- Imagine trying to bend or shape pipe, you'd have to cut each pipe and thread both ends.. a very time consuming and expensive process. In this video, Rich Wilbur demonstrates how you can use tubing that you can measure, mark, layout, and bend! Tubing that you can use instantly and put into service! If you want to learn more about bending tubing, call Valin today! 800.774.5630

If you are running long pieces of tubing and have to put a lot of bends in one piece it helps to take a piece of tie wire and make a "model" Put al the bends in the tie wire in the direction they are supposed to go and it will keep you from making a bend in the wrong direction and having to start all over when bending the tubing.
Great tip. I've definitely done that when making custom brake lines.
I'm self taught and have been replacing the stainless steel tubing (1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", & 3/4") on our units for years. I never knew what the R on my benders was used for until now, thank you.
Do you know how to bend 3 inches with 3/8 tubing
@@bgesmomie Not quite sure I understand what you're asking. Could you provide a little more detail?
.You , Sir are a Magician !
Well done ! 👍👍👍👍
“Maasured”. Love it.
Thank you sir! Well presented and important info here that will be valuable for my upcoming job. Much appreciated. Cheers from Motown.
This fills in a lot of blanks in my tube bending education, Thanks!
Sir is there a pipe that as small as the ballp pen? Im looking for that size of pipe tubes
Great flick...........always wondered where they measured from what point............Cheers
I use 2 spark plug sockets of different sizes clamped in a vise to bend the lines. Contrary to most round sockets, these have a square base for clamping.
Phil. That sounds very interesting. Why don’t you do a short video to show us
A proper pair of benders will do a better job. Bending as you mentioned will result in flattening out the tube in the bends. It will be oval.
Yeeehaaaaawwwwww
Where do you get that tool?
thanks for that beauitfull video
That looks like a nice little bending tool. What is model and where to buy? Thanks.
Mr26Huffy looks like a Swagelock bender.
Where can I get a tubing bender like that, that makes tight bends? For 3/8"?
Good evening, is it also good for copper pipes?
Thank you.
Sir is there a pipe that as small as the ballp pen? Im looking for that size of pipe tubes
Great video
If you over-bend less-than 45°, you can use your hand benders and to bend it back to 90°. Also, due to gains & losses, that’s why you do your measurements one at a time.
So glad the gains and losses was discussed. I had no Idea. This is really helpful. Will go with one at a time measurements thanks to you!!! Blessings.

I have rebent 90° bends in tubing back straight before and have never had a problem
yet, sure it's possible you can do it but it dangerously weakens the metal to the point it gets brittle, and in a high pressure panic braking situation when it matters the most it could burst.
Name the brand of that tool bender buddy please tanks
wow, where do you buy that tool
where to buy that kind of bender?
What is shortest length that can be bent at angle 90 degrees.
You should describe the fist bend you made that you line up on zero to zero on benders
and put your center mark on L on the benders. You never said anything about the L mark wish is for measuring left to right.
What letter did you use to do last bend? R or L?
How do you bend 3inchs. With 3/8 tubing
thanks, but lack of length details like Blakelikesfood mentioned. Especially if the tubing of larger diameters. User get to know bending radius.
You can unbend tube to a certain degree by rolling the bend back out using legs up strategy
Working the material in anyway changes it’s wall diameter, rebending puts a section of material out of spec. Although this would only matter in very high pressure systems.
Muy buenas nochez mi estimado muy buen video seria exito k lo reprodusca en español x favor gracias
Greta video
But this way you totally ignore the tube gain.
How do you take it into consideration
If you calculate your setback and advance, tube gain is no issue. Then you can lay out all your tube measurements before you bend.
True. But if you line your reverse bend mark on the R, you do not have to calculate, the R does it for you. Either way works just fine. Thank you.
Do you think speed bending is better than the SAG method?
Union vs non union.
bravo maestro
I need that tool we’re do I get
can you make a video showing how to make a 360° tubing bend/ expansion loop, please.
In order to make a coil type expansion loop you will need a coil machine. However, most people will make a square expansion loop using a standard tubing bender. If you want an 8" loop, you can start by making you first mark at 8" then the rest of your marks at 7-3/4". Start your first bend at 90deg, then work around using your 7-3/4" marks. This will give you an 8" square coil.
@@richardwilbur4473
Why don't you make videos?
You've great knowledge.
@@richardwilbur4473 I've used large pieces of 2" or 3" pipe as a mold and bend around them . Obviously, I couldn't do such bends with large diameter tubing , say above 3/8" tubing .
thanks
You're welcome!
Make 4" bends: Yet you measured out 4" and made a bend...accounting for radious you're now say...4.25-4.5".......when you need to fit within a 4" gap, how do you subtract radious to start the bend at say 3.5" (or whatever it may be)?
only for 90° elbow
how about if 45° elbow
how to compute your travel and how to marking ... tnx
Offset Bends
To form a tube offset, it is obviously necessary to make two bends. With
these Parker hand tube benders, it is easy to make double 45° bends.
To make an offset bend simply follow the “Offset Bend Allowance” steps
below to determine the proper distance between the two 45° bends.
Here’s the procedure.
STEP 1 First, determine the total amount of offset required (dimension “F”
in the diagram).
STEP 2 Next, determine the angle of offset - 30° or 45°. The latter (45°)
is recommended because Parker hand benders are calibrated for 45°
bending.
STEP 3 Figure the length of the tube required to meet your offset requirements
(“L” dimension) in the diagram.
For 30° bends multiply desired offset “F” x 2 = 30° offset dimension
“L”. For 45° bends multiply desired offset “F” x 1.414 = 45° offset
dimension “L”.
STEP 4 Determine where you want the offset bend of the tube to start;
and make a reference mark (A). Now measure off the “L” dimension
(determined in Step 3), starting from the reference mark and make a
second mark (B). You are now ready to make the bends.
STEP
5 Align mark (A) with reference mark 45° on bender shoe handle
(measurement end to the left) and proceed with first bend. Then align
(B) with 45° mark and make second bend in proper direction (measurement
end to the left). Follow previous detailed instructions for making 45°
bends in one plane.

Anybody tell me minimum CLR of 90 Degree bending of aluminium bar?
Please
Yo need to show where you put the mark in telation with the tube bender.
This guy bends tubes like he has been a brass pipe in a previous life :O
Sir is there a pipe that as small as the ballp pen? Im looking for that size of pipe tubes
You have got to do a video demonstrating these principles directed specifically to pc watercooling crowd . That sector is inundated by young non industry types guessing away at process , selection , sources etc .
You have a market that's untapped.
Would they pay for custom bent tubing?
You should cover approximately how much of the tubing you need to cut to get those measurements
Thank you for your advice, we will take that into consideration for future videos.
Trendyrapslut that is easy if you have the tube bender radius...radius x 2 =diameter; diameter x pi = circumference. Circumference/360 = tube needed for each degree of angle... multiply that by your angle and you get the amount of tube you need for a particular angle. From there you can calculate for the straight tubes...and of course the approximate amount of tube you need.
You have to take into consideration of the gain which you can likewise calculate for.
Too much to explain.
Nice..
I would love to know what bender you are using!
It's cheap
@@kj5027 Ok but what is it
@@T10Titan It's made by Parker. you can see the tag in the video

Hell of a dog in the piece on the thumbnail
OhSoTrendyyy I was wandering if someone was gonna say something 😅
Good
Thank you!
There is a rule for bending tubing/pipe. It is "bend and 5 degrees of recurve"
Sir is there a pipe that as small as the ballp pen? Im looking for that size of pipe tubes
I had to leave after the fourth Mayzure ❤️🤙
hahahah! people that say "mayzure" belong on George Carlin's list.
Wow Yoou are the first to show a BACK bend,,!!!!! Buttt what if you have to bend from the other side(end)?
slowest way ever to bend tube. use setback advance and gain calculations in able to layout the entire piece of tube before bending. it's much more efficient. also, you should only have to back bend in very specific cases. it was not necessary for him to back bend the third bend at all. I bend tube and orbital weld for a living.
Kory:I do respect all ways to bend tubing, I have done it many different ways myself in my different careers. Just keep in mind this training is geared toward the beginner tube bender. As they all gain experience and confidence, they will find their own way.
Kory Dunn are you still tube bending? Would love to chat with you sometimes. I just started at a power house tube bending. I want to use the best method. I understand the SAG method better than anything!
Are you still tube bending as well?
Good clear and concise tuition, but boy does that repetitive background music annoy!
😊 0:33 😊
You can completely avoid bending from R
unless you are bending towards another bend
So i should add .25 of an inch to every bend to end up with
It depends entirely on the size of the tubing.
...and the # of deg.
No.
Nadanya yg di nbelakang kok ngeri om 😂😂😂
If the annoying background music(?) was supposed to drown out the dialog, it was only partially successful.

Yeah cause you don’t ever want to refer to a drawing
the tubing does not stretch. it is pushed around a radius and results in a gain. roughly 1/4 on 1/4, 3/8 on 3/8 and 5/8 on 1/2 swageok benders... ricky d 30yrs bending ang my elbows hurt leave alone an dont leave a coment jus sayin checkit out yosef
Yep,ran many a rack of 1/2 ss tubing racks mainly on lube oil racks in paper mills all over the south
how about Brass 1/4 in
You only measured once.
if you over bend, pad a anvil and tap the pipe on the corner and it will come out a good few degrees. this guy must of learnt this on a shifty course not in an actual job
Your background music is MUCH too loud
Your the guy people like me come up behind and think wtf happened here?
Well your the type of guy I come up behind and make feel really uncomfortable
PLEASE if you're going to make a video, DON'T use that terrible background music. Holy distractions Batman!! We just need to hear the guys voice.
I feel like this guy wouldve been more believable if he wouldve just invested in an old greasy shop shirt.
