Your have the concept all screwed up. The resolution is not increased. Your camera is not all of sudden shooting a 34mp image, it is still the same 26mp image. It still is only 6240 pixel of resolution across, no matter if is a normal lens or anamorphic lens. The pixels are no longer square, now they are 1x1.33.
Wild that I didn’t even know you were using a FUJIFILM cam, but immediately recognized the Fuji look! Imagine you’re starting with an flog2 LUT and doing a little split tone grading beyond that. Very nice look, and it’s just a detail, but love the vivid blue skies in that one shot - a throwback to the deeper blues from the film days ❤️
Anamorphic stills are very exciting, I hope one day we can get a first party anamorphic lens from Sony, Fuji, Nikon, and/or Canon. Imagine something like the 33/1.4 but anamorphic! These lenses are definitely interesting, maybe I can justify getting one. As far as the barrel distortion though that is sometimes desired - if you watch enough films shot anamorphic you can recognize it and I like the look of it myself. However the barrel distortion on the high end professional anamorphic lenses (both vintage and modern) has seemed to me to be more subtle and pleasing than what Sirui does.
So it appears from your pics that the 24mm shoots like a traditional 24mm vertically (short dimension), but like a 17mm in the horizontal (long dimension).
Great video, it’s always a good thing when the video is about the subject and not the presenter. I don’t have a lens for this so for example I shoot in a 1:1 aspect ratio and change the constrain proportions of the file to 3:2 or 2:3. I stretch my picture to make it look squeezed. I do want to get a conversion lens for my iPhone. I now do all my photography via Apple iPhone or iPad.
I imagine the boke balls remain oval after de squeezing because the aperture is physically an oval shape. Just like you could put a piece of paper over a normal lens with a square cut out and the boke balls would become squares.
very good video, it's a shame that the photos were taken xt5 and not xh2s. it would be interesting to see the section about settings just under Sirui lenses. thank you
Awesome video, really interesting to use such a lens for photography. Curiously my inspirations for photography weren't exactly photographers, Akira Kurosawa (my all time favorite movie director), and Caravaggio (classic Italian painter). I want to try that 50mm version on the X-T4.
So no separation possible with this lens? 35mm would be perfect, but I think there is no 35 for Fuji. 50 is not enough, so I would need both the 50 and 24.
Wong Kar Wai best movies were not shot using anamorphic lenses as far as I know. Maybe the newer do, but those suck in comparison to the ones from the 90s.
With all due respect, I feel like using these lenses for stills, is a little bit of a stretch (no pun intended). While it might work for video, I feel it’s too soft for and distorted for hi-res stills. There is a different standard for stills and video based on the medium and how we “consume” it. That being said, what the F do I know.
I think the new laowa nanomorphs are a better buy than the Siruis. They’re 1.5x which is closer to the 2x, they’re smaller, and come in 3 different flare colours. No point in buying these siruis anymore

Hope they add de-squeeze soon natively! Along w/color shift for recipes. These are so cool I love anamorphic
Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose and minimize usage of the camera’s sensor?

It does amaze me the difference in the look versus shooting wide with a standard lens and cropping the top and bottom.. just not the same
Love that t-shirt! 🎸

Selling mine - drop a comment if interested. Absolutely new like / barely used it 👍🏻

Do they not have a 35mm anamorphic for Fuji X Mount?
What sling are you using ?
So prettyyyyyy
Can you turn the orientation of the Sirui front element? For example, if you wanted to shoot portrait, but still maintain the horizontal flare?
so Sirui 24mm anamorphic is how much in conventional lens mm? 12mm?
Is this compatible with xt2?
informative 10mins.
can you use the sirui 24mm on an a7iii full frame?
You can. You have to use APS-C mode.

I'll definitely check them out, thanks!
If you have full frame, then the SIRUI Saturn are better.
New moment adapter lens anamorphic The Best !!!!
