There are a few reasons why a pomegranate plant in a pot might drop fruit, including:
Underwatering: Pomegranate trees need a good amount of water, especially during dry periods. If the tree doesn't get enough water, the fruit might drop prematurely or split.
Pests: An insect infestation, such as whitefly, scale, or mealybugs, can cause pomegranate flowers to fall off.
Disease: A fungal disease or root rot can cause pomegranate flowers to drop.
Cold temperatures: The tree might drop flowers if it's exposed to cold temperatures.
Immaturity: Pomegranate trees need to be three to five years old before they can produce fruit.
Here are some things you can try to help your pomegranate plant:
Water: Make sure the tree gets enough water, especially during dry periods.
Check for pests: Inspect the tree for damage and use an insecticide if necessary.
Protect from cold: Move the tree or take other steps to protect it from cold temperatures.
Fertilize: Use a fertilizer with a higher middle number, like a 5-10-5 or 15-30-15 mix.
Check roots: Remove the plant from the soil and check for mushy roots. Trim away any rotten sections and repot in fresh, well-draining soil.
