Your puppy running around in the background is my favorite part.
I recommend starting to brush her, clean her ears, and brush her teeth even though she doesn’t need it right now. Starting grooming early and making it a fun experience with treats and high value toys will make it much easier to groom her later.
I have a German Shepherd and two pug puppies, and I highly recommend to get them used to a collar just to have their name on it; not to walk them out with it cause it can chock them. They hate it at the beginning but I promise they’ll get used to it ❤️
Please microchip her, if your only going to use a harness when you take her out. Harnesses can easily slip off while your on a walk. If she manages to get out of the house it makes it easier for authorities to contact you and she is less likely to end up in a shelter 🙂

In the UK it is a law to have your puppy microchipped by 8 weeks

I think she should chip her anyway, my dog always managed to come out of his collar very quickly
You actually need a collar AND a harness. You need both. Your puppy needs to wear a collar with their tag all the time even when your at home. Just in case your puppy runs away they're wearing their tag so someone can find your dog. And you need a harness for when you go on walks. But when your puppy is older and knows how to walk on a leash with a collar then you can use just a collar

actuallly, as a dog foster for 12 years, you are recommended both but one or the other does work, most recommended is collar. You don’t NEED the tag either as many dogs these days are microchipped. Please don’t spread false information if you aren’t sure! ☺️

Tip: Idk if someone commented this but if you don’t want your dog to chew on something there’s a spray that you just spray on stuff and they don’t like the taste so they won’t chew any more. I think it’s called granny’s apple spray. btw honey is adorable!

I have a harness and collar for my dog. She free roams the big yard often. But when we walk her we haven’t her on a harness because she pulls. So it’s safer with the harness.
For refilling water, if you get a fountain you don't have to refill as often and it filters the water! I love the ceramic ones from PetSafe. Also, we have a dog tag that slides over the collar instead of hanging off of it, and that helps the dog adjust (and he can't chew on it lol). Not having a collar on him terrifies me in case he gets out or something. Yes, he is microchipped but not everyone thinks to take a found dog to a vet or shelter, so I feel better knowing that my phone number is on him at all time.

Life is much better with a dog. I have a little rescue terrier and an American bulldog. In the future the breed I really want to get is a Mini Goldendoodle. They are just too cute 🥺

I potty trained my puppy by getting those fake grass rolls from Home Depot and I got a spray called natures miracle to make it smell like outside and the grass so she can get used to the grass feeling

For me I don’t go all out when i get a new puppy. I just grab necessities like food, bowls, leash, cheap collar and from there, I see what she likes and what she dislikes
I've had 5 dogs ( 3 are still alive don't you worry) in my short 17 year lifetime we have only ever adopted animals and Alfie the jack Russell was 10 when we adopted him two years ago and Jasper the lowchen was 12 when we got him but our black lab was the youngest he was 1½ years old (sam passed away last year at 16🥺) but we are getting a flat coat retriever puppy and I'm so excited to train him👏👏👏👏

I’m asking since I saw you bought a harness that turned out to be too big for Honey and my dog is exactly the same breed and size (but mine is 5 months old rn). Use a harness not a collar leash because it strains your dogs back

That's only if your dog pulls when they are older and know how to walk loose leash then it's absolutely safe, my sister is a vet and that's how she walks her two dogs, but our 12 year old rescue never learnt how to walk politely on a lead so he sometimes still pulls when exited so he wears a harness.
Also a dog NEEDS a collar it is so unsafe for them not to have a collar if they get out or get out of their harness or something they can be returned

hey, just a little tip regarding the tag on her collar, you should put your last name on the tag instead of her first name because if she goes missing and someone takes her they wont know her name which will help the police when you try to get her back and it will help to confirm she is yours as they wont have he advantage of knowing her name :)
I feel like with the rope leash the dog would get it confused with a tug toy... Has anyone ever had that issue? It’s super cute and I was considering getting one

My puppy did, but I taught her the difference of the colors!! She doesn't do it anymore. Also you could spray the chewy bitter stary to teach her no.
