When did Iyengars came to Karnataka?
      1) Iyengars came to Karnataka in large numbers when Ramanujacharya (Ramanuja) came to Karnataka in the 12th century. To be more precise, he came to Karnataka in the year 1133 when the Chola king Kulottunga II ascended the throne. There are some legends that say that Ramanujacharya was forced out by the Chola king since the Chola king was a Shaivaite and Ramanujacharya was a Vaishnavite.
He came in contact with the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. Vishnuvardhana was originally a Jain but after coming in contact with the great Acharya, embraced the Vaishnava faith and it was actually the Acharya who named him as “Vishnuvardhana”. Vishnuvardhana gave out lands to the Acharya throughout his kingdom so that his followers could settle.
A Srivaishnava centre was set up in Melukote and Ramanujacharya himself stayed there for 14 years. Even today, the Kannadiga Iyengars or rather the Iyengars who are native to Karnataka are from the places where the Hoysala Empire was most powerful. Most of the Iyengars in Karnataka are from Hassan, Mandya, and Mysuru districts, all of which are places where there is a significant influence of the Hoysalas. There are two major categories of Iyengars in Karnataka as per my knowledge. The Hebbar Iyengars who are typically found in Hassan district and Mandyam Iyengars who are typically found in Mysuru and Mandya districts.
      2) During the Muslim Invasion of the Srirangam Temple, Pillai Lokacharyar and a few others made a big trip of South India with the idol of Nam Perumal(protecting it from being taken away) , whereas Swami Desikan came to Satyagalam (near Kollegala). Some of the people who came might have stayed back. This was around 1350 CE.
      3) Due to Bengaluru becoming an IT Hub, many people have migrated in search of jobs or due to the jobs, and this is in the past 50 years.

When did Iyengars came to Karnataka?
1). Iyengars came to Karnataka in large numbers when Ramanujacharya (Ramanuja) came to Karnataka in the 12th century.
2). During the Muslim Invasion of the Srirangam Temple, Pillai Lokacharyar and a few others made a big trip of South India with the idol of Nam Perumal(protecting it from being taken away) , whereas Swami Desikan came to Satyagalam (near Kollegala). Some of the people who came might have stayed back. This was around 1350 CE.
3). Due to Bengaluru becoming an IT Hub, many people have migrated in search of jobs or due to the jobs, and this is in the past 50 years.

Kudos to the work you have done here, bringing to light a unique community and their significance.

When did Iyengars came to Karnataka?
1). Iyengars came to Karnataka in large numbers when Ramanujacharya (Ramanuja) came to Karnataka in the 12th century.
