I am 15 and a huge hot wheels collector. I have 3 'Cudas and 1 Barracuda , a 68 Hemi, a 68 Barracuda S, a 70 Hemi shaker, and a 71 Hemi shaker. Love your vids man!!
It's beautiful. It was nice at the start and then you made it lovely. Excellent job! The latter 60s A-Body Barracudas were awesome cars! I had a gold one with a Slant 6 engine and 7 1/4 Suregrip rear end. I miss that car so much!
It would be neat to see you take some modern day hotwheels cars, and do a retromod on them - spectraflame paint, and redline wheels, to see how these cars would have looked if they had come out in the 60s.
If I'm not mistaken, in the original restoration video he mentioned these wheels were purchased off eBay. I am not sure of the brand, but I suspect that they were Brightvision wheels. I believe in the re-restoration video the wheels were swapped for Redline Shop wheels. I could be wrong, but I noticed the difference in the products on their website images.
I had a US version and a Hong Kong one on the US one the wheel's were different and rolled better put both were a joy and at the time the most sought after followed by the Mustang nice redo thumbs up.
One of my favourite redline castings! Love the old barracuda :D Olive looks great on it. That purple looked pretty decent though TBH That being said, it looks heaps better now!
Excellent re restoration. My custom barracuda was pitted to hell as well Iots of 600grit sanding, and zincing. But I finally got it .purple is the hardest color of the spectraflame to get right I've found. My deora video was a re restoration as well
You've come such a long way!! Love your vids! That Olive color is pretty cool. The gold and the orange in the catalog looked pretty nice too. Is it possible to change the stance of the car? Lower it a bit so that the clearance between the wheels and the arches is smaller? Seems to sit too high in general and even higher in the back.
Thanks for posting. The Barracuda's a sweet looking car. Reminds me of the Australian Charger. Anyway, I'm wondering if you could fill all that pitting then primer and sand and then spray it with the chrome pen paint? That seems to provide a very chrome look but I don't know how the spectra flame paint would look over it. Just an idea.
I totally called the color-olive! 👍 haha And ah so!!!! (First hope yer finger survived - lol another hobbiest danger 😜) Interesting tip regarding the voids! Something to figure. Looks very much better even tho before It wasn’t all THAT horrible of a purple people eater! Hehe 👍 Thanks and happy day!!
Just thinking- could you mold small wire mesh inside your aircraft stripper jar so at the end of it maybe you could filter out some of the old paint flecks? (Maybe the paint chips just turn to jelly, and this isn’t possible idk I’ve never used that product)
Hey Mr.Thangs The car looked nice before and now it looks great. You are such a rebel on your colour choices, imagine painting it in the most valuable car's colour. You are going to goof up the whole spectrum of cars, that only the rich can afford!!... hahaha 😜 Did you hire a hand model to assemble the car? .... perhaps Alfred or Jeeves? Thanks for sharing and take care😁
Instead of using stripper and whatnot to take the paint off, have you experimented with sandblasting? I know that it may not always be 100% applicable especially on cars that have moving parts(i.e., hoods, etc.). Just wondering how the metal in these cars would react. Would there be more pitting; would you have to plate more as a result? Thanks in advance.
I would not presume to tell you how to do a car. But i had a thought about the pitting. I think when they rechrome parts on real cars, they polish the crap out of them, like multiple grits before they start. Maybe this might help with the pitting on the hot wheels? Im not sure, but i thought i would bring it up, but i am sure you would know better than me. Thanks for the videos.
@@WheelsNThangs true true. I just mean the steps up to the chrome, then u could do that nickle plate process. But thanks for the response, i enjoy ur videos. 👍👍

Very nice! Thank you Alexander!
@@WheelsNThangs You're welcome!
I understand that people can express themselves any which way, but how can you not enjoy these vids? Beautiful restoration by the way!!
Thank you!
The olive is more mature and refined than the far more garish purple.
In any case, I prefer how it looks now.
Top shelf, old man.
Thank you Nick!
You can’t polish a turd BUT you can roll it in glitter! 😂
Andrew Potter lol that’s true I remember that episode but it spoiled my old fashioned saying 😂
Andrew Potter pmsl indeed it does!
Story of my life in fact lol.
Ha!
Legend has it WheelsNThangs will heart this
Ha!
WheelsNThangs lol, love your vids! Keep up with the great work.
With the idea of starting my redline collection, but without any luck I have not been able to get any at the moment.
Just keep looking on eBay. It took me awhile.
I really like the results, but didn’t think your first restoration was bad! I would have been proud of of your initial results.
Thank you!
Rerestoration? ;-)
:)

Nice. This casting looks real good with deep dish wheels.
Thank you DSC!
If I could do a restoration that looks half as good as the purple job you did, I would be ecstatic.

Thanks Dave! You could, just take your time!
This is the most beautiful original 16 IMHO. Congrats! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!
Thank you for making a video more about the custom barracuda! I have one and can't find any good videos about it
Thank you!
Looks much better olive. Great work.
Thank you!

I may give it a shot!
I love the end result. Were the wheels/tires replacements at some point? They look amazing.
He replaced the wheels with Redline shop replacements when the first resto was done and the purple paint went on it.
If I'm not mistaken, in the original restoration video he mentioned these wheels were purchased off eBay. I am not sure of the brand, but I suspect that they were Brightvision wheels. Good eye! I replaced them with RedlineShop ones :)
Great looking Mopar!! I like the new color choice, looks original even on factory Chrysler cars.
Thank you!
It looks good! It makes me want to try restoring or painting
Thank you, you should give it a shot!
Even with the pitting, it looks better than that purple version, I really like that olive colour. :)
Thank you!
Great work. It looks good in that colour. Thanks
Thank you!
Good job my friend, it's nice 👍
The colors and wheels is really cool👌
Peace ✌️
Thank you!
What a super nice color, love it!! Great job!!!
Thank you Marty!
Looks great!

You do such a great job keep up the good work
I love the olive! Great restoration!
Thank you!
Hard for me to say which I liked more, both looked good.
Thank you!
Us automotive self leveling primer to eliminate pits and scratches. Read the directions, and experiment. . can be thinned for a paint mini.
Spectraflame is transparent so it the primer totally changes the color.
the olive looks great!
Thank you!
great color !!! I love this series !!!!
Thank you!
Love the olive, there's a hair on the right corner of the roof
It's an antenna. Hehe
I love olive. Did a 67 mustang, and custom firebird in this color.
Is it on your channel?
@@WheelsNThangs yes ,they both are. I have them on my early before/after slide shows.

Thank you! I could bend the axles a bit to give it a lower stance.
the pitting really got to this car, still doesn't look terrible tho

I have a few cars that I wish to redo. But I am 50/50 with the idea because I also like to remind myself of mistakes
You can always redo it!
Looks better in the green
I wonder how many cars that jar of jizz will handle? Will it eventually have to much paint mixed in its not strong enough to strip?
LMAO! I dunno but it's going to take me years to make a new jar!
Looks pretty good but why didn’t you add some body filler, primer then paint if zinc didn’t help
Looks Great Brother
Thank you Robert!
Look good , l preferred the purple, but this looks great 👍
Thank you!
I couldn't find the heavy duty acid you used in the video on either list in the US Amazon link. What's the name of the cleaner? Thanks
Great work. But where is the door line. Maybe some more detail would make it better
The casting doesn't have one. If you're customizing you could add one at great effort and expense, if you're restoring you don't.
Never had one originally.
Pitting or no pitting that's a sweet restore ! Great vid
Thank you!
That is a awesome car! Nice restoration! Love the video like always!
Thank you Oliver!
Bad ass Barracuda 👍
Thank you!
Looks clean man, nice

While I liked the purple the olive came out great!
Thank you Sean!
I really like that color and I think it looks great! Good job!👍🏻👌🏻
Thank you Timothy!
Great job, any chance a primer coat would improve the finish and imperfections?
It would but it wouldn't allow the spectraflame color to do its thing
Not with this paint :(
Could you fill the pits with solder, smooth with steel wool and then zinc plate?
I've never seen solder really stick to the zinc. It does tend to melt it though.
I totally called the color-olive! 👍 haha And ah so!!!! (First hope yer finger survived - lol another hobbiest danger 😜) Interesting tip regarding the voids! Something to figure.

Beautiful custo-resto, but like most Redlines, I wouldn't be happy with the wheel alignment.

Looks wicked dude having some pitting brings to its character can’t wait for the next video 🤘🏼

Lol, wish I had a hired hand! I'm doing my best to throw a wrench in the process. Thanks Mr. Tim!
much better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why not use a glaze filler for the pitting followed by some very fine sandpaper?
It would show through the paint. Spectraflame is transparent.
Instead of using stripper and whatnot to take the paint off, have you experimented with sandblasting? yeah 68 custom barracuda my friend wheels thans 😎👍🚘🚘🚘
What is the orange smell paint remover spray
705th view 96th like 18th comment love that olive paint and the spectraflame purple looked awesome but the endresult was definitely better.
Thank you Luis!
That pitting doesn’t bother me at all❗️That thing looks goooooood. I’m starting to get more into cleaning interiors and wind screens lol
😆👍🏽
Thank you!
Wish they would rerelease the old Science Friction car. I loved that one as a kid :)
Nice job it looks great!
Is there any way to fix the Pitts with solder or something else and still be able to use that paint
Thank you! I tried solder and it was a no go.
nice bro.

Do you ever use bondo for the imperfections?
Not with this paint, it would show through.
That has pretty bad pitting. Saw that hole on roof. Could you and lead or solder to fill that hole ? But still looks good !!!
I've tried solder before with not success. Thank you Gera!
If that look horrible! My collection looks like shit! I think it looks great!
Ever thought of using stopper to fill these pits?
It would should through the paint :(
the new wheels look so much more authentic, although, the original deep dish style would have been even better...nice nonetheless...
