These are good meters. I've been using mine for over 10 years.

As all your videos, very well done and much appreciated Jeff. Thanks for the QST reference... I may build the circuit, with a rear peak-ave switch at the back..no holes. And one of those Christmas light ribbon LEDs snuck under the cove could light the meter. Vy 73.

I rebuilt one a while ago, need new resistors and reflow all solder points. I replaced the interconnect cable with 8 feet, who ever built it, cut the cable to 8 inches.

I have had one of these forever. It is a fantastic piece of gear. I wonder how many Heath sold, since it was so popular?

Any sales records were apparently destroyed when Heathkit went out of business, so no one knows for sure. But it was sold from 1970 to 1981, so they must have made a lot of them.

I have this one but in a greenish tone. Yes, lacks a dial light and PEP but I would try to modify it with an easily removable, without trace sort of modification.
    Excellent meter.
Also have the HM-2140 dual Wattmeter that uses a 9v battery... I wonder if I could use 12VDC instead. I wouldn't like to have a battery leaking inside.
Greetings from Central America and thanks for the instructional video.

Thanks for posting very good video i have the same unit igot it broken and some parts are missing i use the schematic to rebuild it but the L1( the pickup coil) i can not find any info on it
so if you can give me any info about it that would be great

It is a pre-wound toroidal inductor Heathkt part number 40-1011, but I couldn't find any more information on it. I could open my unit up and count the turns and measure the core size, but I don't know what the core material type is. I found some references to similar circuits that suggested a ferrite core with type 43 or 61 material. Is your transformer completely missing, or just broken?

can i put this meter between my AL-811 amplifier and antenna? the amp can do 600 watts . even so...i will probably not push it more than 300 watts.

    • @jefftranter

Yes, it can handle up to 2,000 Watts provided that the impedance of the transmission line is around 50 ohms.
