That car dampening foam is OP. Really clever idea to keep the residue in place for the standoffs to mimic gasket mounting (even though it probably made reassembly difficult). I used a similar product from Noico (along with butyl rubber and packing foam) for the hollow space inside my Redragon K552. It sounds like an absolute unit now. Would be cool to see more videos modifying "basic consumer level" keyboards that anyone can easily buy online.
Seeing the way he lubed the switches with Superlube oil inspired me to lube my switches in a similar way, I lubed my tangerines with Krytox 105g0 and none of the switches stopped working, the oil lubing method gave them more of a soft sound and bottom out, similar to silent switches which might have pieces of rubber in them to make them quieter, it does a similar thing. An issue I did have, though, was when I opened them up to spring swap them afterwards, the leafs of a few switches came out of the bottom housing and I had to throw away some switches, but overall, it worked well.
I am building my first enthusiast keyboard with linear switches (gateron north poles) but I wont lie... I've used a Logitech g710 with blue switches for like 6 years now and I kinda like the clicking. I'm excited to get my new keyboard built and I'm sure I'll love it but blue switches are fun for some people. Idk it just feels kinda satisfying to me when I press there's a loud noise. It can be inconvenient though when typing an essay through the night when people are trying to sleep hehe. I think blue (or clicky) switches get a lot of hate even though they serve a purpose for a niche audience
There's a bit of a confusing situation with attitudes towards clickies in this hobby. Most enthusiasts like Hipyo just plain dislike clicky switches in general. But those of us who do have the good taste to like clicky switches will also near-unanimously hate MX Blues and its direct clones, specifically because the click mechanism creates a rattly plasticky aftersound. Try checking out something like Kailh BOX clicky switches (white, pink, jade, navy), which feature a different click mechanism that sounds much cleaner, although still pretty high-pitched. Other options like Zeal Clickiez are also coming out with nicer clicks, but those are absurdly expensive. It's this overall lack of attention for clickies in modern boards that drives most clicky enjoyers to vintage keyboards, where there's a much bigger variety of great clicky switches.

I think it's just a personal preference. Some people like clicky. It really just depends on how loud and smooth you like the click of a switch when typing. Can't diss clicky just cause they loud. If this doesn't expose that I like clicky already 😛
@@DS-oopa there’s also the tactility that usually comes from clickies. A box jade usually has a much sharper tactile bump then compared to a (non-clicky) zealios, which are more rounded
Howdy Hey Hipyo! Question: do you find after modding the back/inside of a keyboard case, that the case and/or PCB bends? I’ve modded an Akko 3068B with some 1/8 inch foam, and the front edge of the case looks bent downward, while the keys/PCB appear to be bent upward. Just curious if this is common, or if I’ve overestimated how much I can put into the case.

That... that is evil.
me with magic keyboard
If only you would turn it into hotswappable by adding millmax sockets, it would be better modded
Have you thought about getting an esd jacket, used em at work making medical and aeronautic pcb's never had a static shock in my entire 2 years i wore it
imagine a keyboard swapped, 100 dollar chromebook. wonder what that would sound like?

Wait... If you paid for the red switch version, who sent you the blue switch version? I think messing up an order like that is a HUGE blue flag.
Thocky Blues???
My razer blackwidow is in shambles right now
HIPYO I ALSO USE THE MACHTA GREEN KEY CAPS
I have a redragon fizz keyboard, that stuff is good
sounds like a razer green switch
When those are the exact keycard you have…
Would adding the auto foam to the space bar help? I usually use spacebar foam but wonder if it's cheaper to use the auto dampening material on the spacebar.
double sided tape and melamine foam (magic eraser) works great.
Quick remember that the declick mod exists.
Can u do it on non hot swapable keyb
What are you injecting in to the keyboard to dampen sound. It looked like you were using a black syringe
I think it's just a personal preference. Some people like clicky. It really just depends on how loud and smooth you like the click of a switch when typing. Can't diss clicky just cause they loud. If this doesn't expose that I like clicky already 😛
If it had any purpose I would agree
@@nqxo9829 the purpose IS the sound. I like firm clicky switches. People are allowed to like what they like. 🤷🏿♀️
if we're being honest the bottom out sound is usually just as loud as the click anyway.
@@DS-oopa there’s also the tactility that usually comes from clickies. A box jade usually has a much sharper tactile bump then compared to a (non-clicky) zealios, which are more rounded
@@Free-4554 very true. I love the tactility and the sound. Some people even find that the clickity clackety sounds trigger their ASMR.
lmao my blue switch keyboard sounds great after modifying it
im not lying
me: *dislikes*

me: *NOOOO*
Howdy Hey Hipyo! Question: do you find after modding the back/inside of a keyboard case, that the case and/or PCB bends?
I’ve modded an Akko 3068B with some 1/8 inch foam, and the front edge of the case looks bent downward, while the keys/PCB appear to be bent upward.
Just curious if this is common, or if I’ve overestimated how much I can put into the case.
my blue switch keyboard IS hotswappable, so i could mod it to have black or red switches, i just don't really have the cash to buy switches.
wait what's wrong with blues I love blues, that click is what I live for in keyboards
