John’s purpose in John 17:1-26 is to record Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer. In vs.20-26, we read the third portion of Jesus’ prayer where Jesus appeals to the Father to unify His disciples through Him and with Him. In this, we see that Jesus desires His disciples to be unified through His Word and through the glory He has given us. We see that He also desires His disciples be unified with Him in glory and in the experience of God’s love.
