My mom use to make one called Watergate salad… pistachio pudding. cool whip, crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges and maraschino cherries . She would fix it at holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I loved making Ambrosia Salad with fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, mini-marshmallows, flaked coconut, canned Mandarin oranges, Cool Whip (more stable than whipped cream) and a dollop or two of sour cream (or plain yogurt) to balance the sweetness. Yum!
My mother used to make all these different Jell-O salads when I was growing up. They were always so satisfying in the summer. And she could make a dessert go along way with eight people. Thank you for showing the salads
For Thanksgiving use instead of pineapples in the lime Jello use sliced pears. We call it pear salad. It tastes great, very mellow and sweet, and not a taste people seem to have too often.
Chef Kristie, there is a pistachio salad that is a family favorite. It's pistachio pudding mix, and crushed pineapple, with mini marshmellows, pecans and cut Maraschino Cherries and whipped topping. It's delicious too! Every Easter it was on our table, you can add a cup of coconut too 😀 Now is the perfect time for these salads, thanks again! ♡sBm
I grew up on jello salads like these in the 60's, my mum made one she called "Hawaiian Fluff", she made her own whipped cream with pineapple juice and pieces, oranges, coconut and maraschino cherries chopped finely;I loved it. Now I am going to have to make one as it is very hot here, thanks for the inspiration.
@@patw7174 I don't know, I don't eat dairy very often myself but I do indulge once in a while. Isn't there non-dairy whipped topping you could use as a substitute? I'm old fashioned, lol, I still prefer making my own with heavy whipping cream, good luck to you! 🤗🍨
@@Mark-iv7np As soon as can find it I will post it to you , it's in a binder with most of her recipes that my father put together after she died. He didn't bother putting the recipes into categories so it's always a treasure hunt when I look for something, one of these decades I will get around to organising it.
I am glad I found this channel. I just bought 10 boxes of Jello, two of each flavor. I would never have thought of putting pudding and Jello together. I will have to go to the store again for the pudding and Cool-Whip. Then I'll try your recipes. Thank YOU!
My aunt has a recipe for apricot jello. TO DIE FOR!!!!! Getting extremely difficult to get apricot jello these days. Thank goodness for Amazon. My mom has been making this for every family function and literally can’t show up without it.
This was called Watergate Salad back in the 70’s…I guess because it was popular around the time of the Watergate scandal. My mom still makes it and we love it!
My Grandmother always made her version of "green stuff" every Christmas! It just wasn't Christmas without it. After she passed, my Aunt made her first attempt to keep the tradition alive. However, she was in a rush and only had one box of lime jello, so she combined it with a box of cherry she did have. After all she thought, red and green govtogether at Christmas. Right? Weeelll... Turns out when you mix red and green jello in the recipe it turns a sort of grayish color. So that first Christmas after Grandma's passing we had "GRAY Stuff"! It looked kinda like brain tissue. Not very festive. Made us miss Grandma but we also had a good laugh to balance our grief.
Yes, I love this one! A few years ago I decided to pullout some old jello recipes and I made the “green stuff”! 😂 Also, a mandarin orange, tapioca pudding recipe with dream whip (can’t remember all the ingredients), but this definitely my favorite!
Another one my Mom made for potlucks is : lg box of strawberry/banana jello use pack directions for hot water. Use only half cold water amount, add in well drained crushed pineapple, 1 container crushed frozen strawberries and 1 mashed ripe banana. Pour half mixture into 9×9 dish. Place that container into refrigerator to set.About 30 minutes. Use a medium size sour cream to layer 1/2 inch thick then add rest of jello mixture on top and return to refrigerator to set.
This morning, made a 1/2 batch of the last one. Used sugar free black Cherry jello and thawed frozen cherries. Wish I could find sugar free cool whip! OMG… this is heaven on these HOT days. Thanks for helping me rediscover the love of Jello.
My mom made a 2 similar recipe for my sister's wedding dinner, one strawberry and 1 lemon. She added little pieces of angel food cake before refrigerating. It was 62 years ago and I can still remember how delicious it was.
I love jello salads and they’re so easy to convert to sugar free/keto desserts!! Thank you for sharing these recipes with us, such fond memories of holiday get togethers!
I agree, but I save my whipping cream for my coffee...lol. I try to find True whip it doesn't have all the hydrogenated oils in it. Walmart finally started selling it again😊
I love Jello salads, these all look so good. I found at a thrift store a small cook book made my the Jello company from the 50/60 its amazing how far that went with their creativity. I look forward to trying these. Thanks
OMG these are all so delicious looking. I've made alot of jello salads and love them. Grew up with them. Mom always made them too and I made them for my kids and my kids make them for their children.
The strawberry and cottage cheese recipe is the one my grandmother made for potluck at church or if guest were coming. She would put hers in 9 x 13 in container, also. I just found you and I'm looking forward to more videos. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney Anne
We used to do several versions of that. Cherry jelly with Maraschino cherries and cottage cheese. And a lime jello and pineapple with cottage cheese. All had the cool whip also.
I had the strawberry/cottage cheese salad years ago and I remembered it was so good!! I looked and looked for a recipe and never found one. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for the additional recipes. I make my fruit salad with cocktail fruit, marshmallows, any flavor of jello Cool whip. Additionally nuts or coconut.
Any of these is perfect for summertime. Cool & refreshing & light. I probably will say the strawberry is my favorite too. I will make each one of these. Thank you so much for sharing.
I like they all Thank You for Sharing all of your Recipe I enjoyed watching all of your Video GOD BLESSED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'AND FRIENDS HAVE A GREAT DAY
I loved this video because my mom used to never make any type of ambrosia or jello fluff stuff, but my best friend's mom did! and I loved them. Now I make them myself and will be trying out the Strawberry! Thanks 💖
I make my pistachio pudding with cool whip, cottage cheese, pistachio pudding mix, and crush pineapple. Mix all together. Its as delicious as your strawberry salad. Thank you for sharing. 😋
The lime jello flavor is great at Christmas time, when you use pieces of red Maraschino cherries drained, cut in half & mixed in.. very festive looking with the red & green appearance or you could use the green cherries in the pink jello for another Christmas party item.
Oh these recipes are wonderful I can't wait to try them all out this is Tammy Eastman from Amarillo Texas and I put on some weight here lately the last 6 months I want to get it back off and this would be a great dessert for me cuz I'm always making pies and cakes and no one's here to eat with me well I'll let you know how that works for me bye thank you for the recipe
If you are slimming, use a few more nuts for a crust, and it will be more like a pie. Sugar free Jello and pudding, and you will get a lot of flavor for your calorie and carbs.
My family makes an amazing pistachio jello salad with milk, fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, whipped cream topping, and pistachio pudding powder. We call it Pistachio delight!
My favorites are the lime and the orange. My mama used to make Jello Salads for every holiday, birthday celebration and during the summer. This brings back so many memories!
Just found your channel. I love Jello salads any time of the year, but in the summer they really hit the spot on a hot summer day. These all sound yummy, but strawberry always going to be my favorite. I am always looking for a good lemon desert to fix. Can't wait to try this one. I will be looking forward to more videos.
My favorite is the Lime. I’ve never tried it with cream cheese though, I’ve always made it with cottage cheese instead. I’ll have to try it with the cream cheese next time.
I make a cranberry jello mold that has cream cheese. I find it easiest to add the softened cream cheese a little bit at a time , it blends easily with minimal lumps. Btw these all look soooooo good!😀
My mom use to make one called Watergate salad… pistachio pudding. cool whip, crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges and maraschino cherries . She would fix it at holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My mom did too
Not jello
I remember it well. I could have eaten the whole bowl. It's not a Jell-O concoction, but that may be why I liked it best!!
I make that around the holidays
I loved making Ambrosia Salad with fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, mini-marshmallows, flaked coconut, canned Mandarin oranges, Cool Whip (more stable than whipped cream) and a dollop or two of sour cream (or plain yogurt) to balance the sweetness. Yum!
This is my dish I take to holidays. Yum
Mine too
Sounds great! Thank you
Thank you. Moms recipes disappeared. Love it .
I like the different flavors of the jello salads.

LOL... We don't put cherries in it, & call it "Bait," bc it looks like fishing Bait, but it tastes so heavenly you're just Baited to eat it!!
They are great in a pie crust too!
I was just thinking the lemon one would be awesome in a pie crust!!

Special occasions mom made "green stuff". Coolwhip with pistachio pudding, crushed pineapple and mini marshmallows
..extra nuts optional. Yum
