Floating, Camping and Fishing on the Caddo River | Summer in Arkansas

I wanted to document this sweet memory of James and I's first float trip in Arkansas. Floating rivers is my favorite summer activity here in Arkansas. In this video we do a short 2 mile float through Caddo River Camping & Canoe Rentals. Our float trip lasted about 3 hours. It was $12 to bring your own tube and $20 to rent tubes. We camped right off the river near the put in spot and went fishing right next to camp when we finished floating. We both caught a few fish and then cooked an awesome dinner & ate it around the campfire!
While it was really too hot to camp in the van, we wanted to take it out in preparation for our road trip out west. We learned of a few things that needed to be fixed before we left and got an idea of how to make the space functional for the two of us! Stay tuned for more van life videos!

Check the wire clip connections that power your AC compressor. I literally just fixed my non working ac today. It was loose connections so the ac compressor would not turn on to cool the air. That is, of course, if your refrigerant is full. If it is, check your connections. Neither of my windows work right now so fixing the AC is a big win for me!

Thanks for this vision of you guys laying back and taking it easy. Great to see Arkansas way of doing it. I live in northern Ontario so I am far away. I wish you Kelly and James the best. Stay happy and look at the small things that make life perfect. I was just in the bush for five nights, injured my knee and picked up a toothache, but I am heading back soon for another five nights on a lake where no one comes. I wish you the best.

Knew you had a strong spirit that would bounce back from your PCT setback, but it is nice to see that you are enjoying yourself in your next chapter. Camping (or hiking) in Arkansas in the summer, especially right now, is definitely a challenge. You almost need to sleep IN the creek/river.
Yes. I’ve been looking forward to these videos. Im up here in Missouri pulling a Camper around in my part of the Ozarks. And I’m looking forward to seeing what Arkansas has to offer. You should do a section or two of the Ozark trail.

2- when innertubing, I like to have two frisbees to use as paddles. You can get a really good back stroke with them to avoid the bank and branches!

A tube made for a cooler, what will they think of next? We'd usually bring a tube for the cooler as well, as a backup for punctures when floating Butte Creek. If we had four people floating we'd take six full tubes at least. Probably get out with four intact after a three to four hour journey.

We've done that float a few times we love it! Always cool seeing people enjoying some Arkansas outdoors fun...we did 4th of July up in Heber Springs this past weekend and had a blast, definitely check it out if ya get the chance...

I'm sorry to say I kinda lost interest in your hiking videos because at age 64 it's not something I desire to do, my knees and feet hurt just watching ! But tube floating w/ a Beer Cooler is more up my alley 👍 Have you ever floated any of Missouri's streams ? Jack's Fork, Current, Eleven Point or Meremec Rivers ? All good floats ! But not this week ! 87F at 4AM 101 high. ✌️💙🎵
Totally understand that! Haha floating on a river/any body of water really can’t be beat! Never floated any of those but going to write all them down. Hoping to get the kayak out more this summer! & yikes! Sounds about like what we have going on in arkansas! Just brutal!
