There was a story from 70's regarding Dragi Jelić, the guitarist and leader of YU Grupa. They went to London to buy instruments, and he tried some guitars in one guitar shop. He was noticed and heard by Marc Bolan secretary, and he was offered to join T-Rex. But he refused politely, saying that he had a band in Yugoslavia, and he was very satisfied with the band. What to say, a big self-respect!

In this live version they play the parts of 3 songs (Nona, Kosovski Božuri & Sama)Connection between this songs is etno sound wich was their trade mark in the begining of 70's.
In the 70s, the Yu group played at the "Marki" club in London. The quality is undeniable.

What is important to know is the fact that the traditional music of the Balkans is a jewel in the musical world. The rock and jazz musicians of the former Yugoslavia who created during the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century realized this and built their own sound on those foundations.
