      Caitlin Quick I like to eat and watch this guys videos man. I also feel that it helps to watch these videos and then read the chapter because it helps in visualizing what is happening. I like looking at pictures, but they will never be like a good video. Biology is tough man a lot of people I know dropped the class, damn pansies you gotta keep your head up and learn.

    I've stopped watching my normal assigned videos and started just watching relevant Crash Course episodes. Go Hank!

  • @Kleinage
    @Kleinage 5 лет назад +192

    Hank is 1. A good actor 2. Has the benefit of cuts 3. Has no bored or disruptive audience, meaning he has no major distractions from his energy or focus 4. Is (apparently) using a teleprompter (he is looking slightly above the camera) 5. Has perfectly integrated images and videos to keep interest. 6. Has a snappy soundtrack and sound effects. 7. Is able to use a carefully written script with perfectly polished delivery (because 1, 2, 3, and 4).
    These are all advantages your ordinary teacher probably lacks. So please, enough "Hank is better than my actual biology teacher!" Hank is something totally other than your teacher, he is a professional presenter with a team. It's kind of like saying "Tom Holland is more charismatic than my actual high school friends." Well yes. Yes he is. But also. . .movie magic / cinema skills. If your teacher had a professional video team and coaching, they may or may not achieve similar results- it is a totally different genre.
    None of this is to suggest anything bad about Hank or crash course. It is an amazing product done with high values, a passion for teaching and a very strong work ethic.

    • @jetergmd
      @jetergmd 5 лет назад +13

      Ariya Ziauddin ahaha good luck man, i had mine last week, think about it, everyone sits the same exam, if shit comes up on it you havnt really heard or studied much of, dont worry thatll be the majority and so the bell curve will help you out:) Think about it, if you study most of the course quite well and you only answer 80% of the questions (mark wise) you have a higher potential to get around 90% of that 80% which equates to a low A or B+, especially in bio where the average mark is around 55% or some shit, so make sure you know the major concepts really well and in the exam dont get scared if theres a 1 marker you cant answer and you can see everyone else can!!! make sure you hit the 4,6,8 markers easily mate and youll be fine!!!

    I have a BS in Biology, now I do taxes and make $$$. Biologists fresh out of college make around $15-20/hr unless you have a phD, then you get to make $70,000. SOOO, be careful taking out big student loans, it might take awhile to pay back, unless you can do some self-mitosis and have your clone go to work too.

    • @mirrorreflex
      @mirrorreflex 9 лет назад +9

      +Dean Ferraro, EA I'm someone else who studied biology during my course, but I majored in microbiology. You also forgot to mention how it is virtually impossible to even get an interview for science unless you have experience, especially if you JUST have a bachelor degree.

    • @DeanFerraro
      @DeanFerraro 9 лет назад +4

      +mirrorreflex true, the only way I broke into the industry was by being a temp first. I had no benefits while doing that. I'm self employed at www.authoritax.com and LOVING IT!!! Maybe you'd be good at finance. Bio students are good with numbers and usually have excellent memories(great for recalling laws and random statutes to help clients ;).

    • @mirrorreflex
      @mirrorreflex 9 лет назад +5

      Dean Ferraro, EA I went into teaching. It is still hard to find a job in the metropolitan areas if you lack experience, but you will find a job if you are willing to go to rural schools.

    I have biology freshman year of college, once a week. Lecture 3 hours and lab 2. These videos help a lot. My brain is fried by the time the class ends and trying to retain an entire chapter lectured once a week for 3 hours is nearly impossible. I wish I had found these videos at the beginning of the semester. My grade would probably be better. My professor is awesome but I just need more.

      Either way, yes. G1, S, and G2 are not part of mitosis. It's all under the cell cycle which within itself mitosis is a part of. They're a part of the cellular cycle *alongside* mitosis.

    Where do the other existing organelles go during mitosis? Do they just sort of get pushed aside? And do they stay in the original cell or get split between the two resulting daughter cells? Just curious because I've never seen them included in a diagram of mitosis.
