Been watching your channel for years. Wonderful to see this new video today. Appreciate your warm energy and enthusiasm for the trees as much as the project itself. Thanks again for your work.

My neighbour has a gigantic Kauri on her small section, it looks magnificent and is a landmark of the area.

I usually collect cones on the 2nd week of March but there are seasonal variations. I pick them before they start opening.

Hello, great video. Have you tried growing Wollemia Nobilis? Or araucaria angustifolia?

No, I have grown neither and am unlikely to. I think you can buy the heavily controlled Wollemai pipe for big bucks and I'm not sure about the Brazillian one. I tend to stick to NZ natives. It's a great story about the wollemai pine, I wonder if there is still an unknown Agathis in the bush somewhere?

Hi Max, I collected some cones off a tree and only got 4 viable seeds out of 6 cones. Do you think I picked them too early, it was Easter weekend. Or can they be hit and miss? In past years I would have got 100 good seeds out of that many cones from the same tree.

Interesting. Where abouts did you collect the cones? Most years seem pretty consistent when I’ve collected. I wonder if the constant rain of the last year could affect germination or some other cause? I always collect in the second week of March so your cones should be mature enough. Were they smaller than usual.?

Hi max, I collected 2 cones prematurely from Cathedral Cove walk yesterday. Will it be worthwhile planting them and will they grow?😅 might be a stupid question..I didn't do my research before I plucked them 🤦🏻‍♀️
