Something that has worked for me is mixing APPLE CIDER VINEGAR in water and then massaging it into my scalp, waiting 20-30 minutes, then washing it out with my shampoo. When I do that, my scalp feels much healthier and less dry/dandruff-y.
@@mariah5258 lmao I still have it - it just won’t go away for me I’ve tried everything, my hairs not so greasy now but I still have a lot of dandruff:/
Lora Marshall wash less often. Try using a castor oil treatment twice a week to thicken and strength your hair as well. It will replenish your oily hair but you really need to wash as little as possible.
What worked for me was dandruff shampoo and Dawn dish soap. It worked wonders. I used head and shoulders and regular Dawn dish soap. The dish soap helps with the oil in the hair and that will allow the dandruff shampoo to do its job even better.
I use only one ingridient before shampoing. Lemon! Works like wonder for me. And even more, my scalp isn't oily anymore and i can just wash my hair twice a week. my hair grow stronger and healthier!
Dyah Pratiwi do you squeeze the lemon and then apply it? If so do you apply it halfway up your hair or all of your hair including your scalp? Also do you leave it in for some time?
I have a bad case of dandruff (SD aka seborrheic dermatitis). I use Nizoral 2% as a medicated shampoo when I get flare-ups. Oils on the scalp make it worse (they "feed" the fungal overgrowth that is on the scalp), conditioner on the scalp makes it worse, so I have to be careful. I have discovered that in between bouts a sulfate shampoo works best for me because it strips the oils the best. Milder shampoos (especially sulfate-free) make me flare-up fast. For that reason I can't CO-wash either. But we're all different.
ally, I would go see a dermatologist. You can't self-diagnose this. If you have SD, you can't use oil on your scalp as it will make it worse, that is the first clue, yes. But if you do have this you are going to need something medicated to handle it, hence why you need the doctor!
I don’t have dandruff, but I have pretty bad dryness that starts the day after I wash my hair. Not even oiling helps. One thing that works amazingly for me is plain full fat yogurt. Just apply it on your scalp, leave it on for a couple of hours and then wash it out with shampoo and condition your hair. Every time I do this, I don’t have any dryness until my next wash. Yogurt clarifies your scalp amazingly! And it’s so nice and cooling in the summer months.
Thanks so much! This was so helpful! I suffer with eczema and recently I’ve constantly been having trouble with dandruff and extremely greasy hair. I’ve done a lot of research but never really found anything too helpful. This video really answers all my questions and I’m so thankful. Hopefully now I can finally have my old hair back that I remember so well ♥️
Few months ago I had a very itchy, Scaly scalp and I was picking lumps of Dandruff from my scalp, While I was picking the bits of it started to get Very Oily and sore, I looked on the web for ideas on how to get rid of it and saw one idea of using Vics vapour rub on it..So I bought a jar costing nearly £3.00 and Rubbed it into my scalp and left it on All day and I covered it with a large freezer bag leaving Air in the bag so it didn't rest on my hair..That night I tried to wash it out using Clinical Head and shoulders :( I had to wash my hair 6/7 times and also ended up using Fairy washing up liquid..The Vapour rub didn't work one bit so I've been using the H&S clinical for months now and It has helped a lot..But then I was thinking last week..I once used tea (No milk or sugar lol) on my Grand daughters conjunctivitis/gooey eyes and it cleared that up (old wives remedy) So I thought if it worked on that..it may work on my scalp..So I got 4 tea bags and placed them in a beaker and poured boiling water on them, Gave them a Good stir/squash and left them to brew/cool enough to use on my head ..I then used one of the tea bags to apply the cool tea all over my scalp and after my head was covered I left it to dry and kept it on all day then washed it that night using the H&S clinical shampoo again..After the First time I did this I could Not believe the difference it had made to my scalp..I was GobSmacked!! No More thick scaly lumps! I never had dandruff but as soon as I switched to no- sulfate shampoo my scalp became itchy, dry, flakey and I started getting dandruff does anyone experience the same thing ? my scalp is actually peeling off I never experienced that in my entire 22 years life lol omg watching ur video till the end... Same here. I am using now sulfate ones mainly. I guess the ones wothout sulfates are just too mild to strip away the excess oil effectively and oil is a great "soil" for fungus to grow. :S

Eczema on the scalp can respond very differently to nizoral shampoos than SD. I have it sometimes and if I use strong dandruff shampoos I will have bleeding sores! Whereas, I know some people with SD need those strong shampoos to kill bacterial overgrowth. You've given good nfo here. :)
So, true! That's why you really need to use the right medicated shampoo that suits your scalp best especially if you eczema or psoriasis on the scalp. Aw! Thank you! :)

So what could a peeson do if they can only wash hair the minimum once a week how to stop the dandruff if u cant wash often? I heard about this in Queer Eye. I tried it & it works consistently, as long as I don't dry out my scalp with shampoo.
just plain apple cider vinegar and water and massage?
