Something that has worked for me is mixing APPLE CIDER VINEGAR in water and then massaging it into my scalp, waiting 20-30 minutes, then washing it out with my shampoo. When I do that, my scalp feels much healthier and less dry/dandruff-y.

What worked for me was dandruff shampoo and Dawn dish soap. It worked wonders. I used head and shoulders and regular Dawn dish soap. The dish soap helps with the oil in the hair and that will allow the dandruff shampoo to do its job even better.

I have a bad case of dandruff (SD aka seborrheic dermatitis). I use Nizoral 2% as a medicated shampoo when I get flare-ups. Oils on the scalp make it worse (they "feed" the fungal overgrowth that is on the scalp), conditioner on the scalp makes it worse, so I have to be careful. I have discovered that in between bouts a sulfate shampoo works best for me because it strips the oils the best. Milder shampoos (especially sulfate-free) make me flare-up fast. For that reason I can't CO-wash either. But we're all different.

    • @amixeblu
      @amixeblu 6 лет назад +3

ally, I would go see a dermatologist. You can't self-diagnose this. If you have SD, you can't use oil on your scalp as it will make it worse, that is the first clue, yes. But if you do have this you are going to need something medicated to handle it, hence why you need the doctor!

I don’t have dandruff, but I have pretty bad dryness that starts the day after I wash my hair. Not even oiling helps. One thing that works amazingly for me is plain full fat yogurt. Just apply it on your scalp, leave it on for a couple of hours and then wash it out with shampoo and condition your hair. Every time I do this, I don’t have any dryness until my next wash. Yogurt clarifies your scalp amazingly! And it’s so nice and cooling in the summer months.

Few months ago I had a very itchy, Scaly scalp
and I was picking lumps of Dandruff from my scalp, While I was picking the bits
of it started to get Very Oily and sore, I looked on the web for ideas on how
to get rid of it and saw one idea of using Vics vapour rub on it..So I bought a
jar costing nearly £3.00 and Rubbed it into my scalp and left it on All day and
I covered it with a large freezer bag leaving Air in the bag so it didn't rest
on my hair..That night I tried to wash it out using Clinical Head and shoulders
:( I had to wash my hair 6/7 times and also ended up using Fairy washing up
liquid..The Vapour rub didn't work one bit so I've been using the H&S
clinical for months now and It has helped a lot..But then I was thinking last
week..I once used tea (No milk or sugar lol) on my Grand daughters conjunctivitis/gooey
eyes and it cleared that up (old wives remedy) So I thought if it worked on
that..it may work on my scalp..So I got 4 tea bags and placed them in a beaker
and poured boiling water on them, Gave them a Good stir/squash and left them to
brew/cool enough to use on my head ..I then used one of the tea bags to apply
the cool tea all over my scalp and after my head was covered I left it to dry
and kept it on all day then washed it that night using the H&S clinical
shampoo again..After the First time I did this I could Not believe the
difference it had made to my scalp..I was GobSmacked!! No More thick scaly
lumps! No more Oily Sebaceous fluid seeping out etc, So Please try this before
you spend a small fortune on over the counter medication..There are So many
things in Tea that have the power to cure ailments of all kinds that some won't
tell you about, But please do give it a go and DEFO don't use Vapour run It
    doesn't work!!...Hope this helps

Eczema on the scalp can respond very differently to nizoral shampoos than SD. I have it sometimes and if I use strong dandruff shampoos I will have bleeding sores! Whereas, I know some people with SD need those strong shampoos to kill bacterial overgrowth. You've given good nfo here. :)

    HEEEEEELLLPPP!!!!
    I NEEEEEED ANSWERS!!!
this is about, people who have VERY DRY ,NAPPY ,KINKY, CURLY HAIR, that is very thirsty and extremely tangly ,that CANNOT BE WASHED OFTEN, because it takes hours to detangle, wash 2x ,condition, deep condition or mask, or whatever, then rinse towel dry, detangle again which takes 4 hours or more because the hair so dry it knots up super fast and it very dry. BUT ITs WEIRD BECAUSE.... the dandruff gets very oily after a few days but the hair stays very dry. So what could a peeson do if they can only wash hair the minimum once a week how to stop the dandruff if u cant wash often? Also long story short 1 hot summer day 106 degrees heat wave i got an idea to perm my hair. And it was burning so bad i stuk my head in freezer instead of washing off., anyway it burning my head skin so bad that when i wrapped my hair, i could not unwrap it because the hair was healing under the wet sticky type skin. And after 3 days my hair /skin started to heal/dry up. I had a lot of scabs. After that i ended up with bad dandruff i never had. Then my daughter stood with her dad at night while i worked. I found out from the age 2-5 he was putting her to bed with wet hair and the ponytails from earlier that he didn't loosen or remove the bands. The hair wasnt washed, it was just wet from the sitting bath water from dunking under water. Long story short i found out but was too late. Now she has a crazy dandruff issue now too. Although it dont seem to be oily. But shes 9 yrs old so i just think its cuz shes young. Any ideas how to help us? No1 in our family has dandruff. Not genetic (if thats possible). How can we cure it completely will bleach bath work? Im so tired of it, that i actually considered shaving off all my hair and soaking it in bleach every day. Im still thinking about raw bleach soak 4 me,( not her)

      Caroline Of course!
First of all, I usually oil my hair twice a week. I do separate mixtures, one for my scalp (not super heavy, also curative and growth stimulating) and the other one (much richer and nourishing) for the strands of my hair: on the scalp I usually mix castor oil, coconut oil, poppy seed oil, sesame seed oil, Mamey sapote oil, and grape seed oil. For the overall length I mix heavier stuff such as unrefined Shea butter, extra virgin olive oil, grape seed oil, sunflower oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil and Indian mustard oil.
I leave my pre poo on for a minimum of 8 hrs to a maximum of 12/15 hrs , using Keren‘ baggy method. I wash my scalp with shampoo and I cowash my strands.
In addition, I ONLY use organic products! Hope I’ve helped!

Hi Keren! Thank you so much for your love and passion for us and for great hair! Over the years I truly benefited from all your advice and my hair is better than ever. I follow your advice, as well as Holistichabits' advice and Naptural85's.I see that you had not so great, well let's say okayish experiences with natural shampoos. Have you ever tried the brand Calia? Their shampoos are natural and organic AND they are AMAZING. They clean the scalp and hair really well while leaving it soft and easy to detangle. I strongly recommend the balancing shampoo, it changed my hair game! I heard of this brand thanks to the youtuber Holistichabits, if you don't yet, definitely follow her!

also i have head and shoulders shampoo 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner together, i don't like 2 in 1 shampoo, but i used it for my scalp, it has stuff for getting rid of danduff. my grandma got it, so that's why i use it.

It´s good to wash the hair every other day because it helps the economy. But not the hair.
