Aww 🥰 Congratulations 🎉🍾 I’m glad to hear this. Welcome to the world of pharmacy 💊
Motivation for me. I would like to pursue this
Do hospitals train you?
It all depends on what hospital you’re working in. Everyone is supposed to get trained properly but it doesn’t always happen that way.
hello! did they ask for your diploma ?
I just got hired as a retail pharmacy tech. Once I get certified I plan on applying to a hospital. Thank you for your videos I love them!
That sounds amazing 🤩 Congratulations 🎉

Hi! I just scored a pharmacy tech job at a local pharmacy in a rural town in the north. I'm extreme excited because I'm only 18. Thanks for the videos it's a really helpful insight on what I'm getting into.
You’re so welcome! Good luck on your journey.
I know this is an older video but off topic, I love your hair look in the introduction.
I'm a hospital inpatient certified pharmacy technician as well and wouldn't trade that area of our profession for anything. I feel like I am contributing to patient care versus retail and/or long term care. Thank you for your sound work ethic. You're a credit to our profession. ❤
Big thanks! I absolutely love this comment 🩷💋🩷
This is a great video to show the profession. Very similar to a lab tech.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Wow, the pyxis at my hospital are so ancient compared to yours. We're actually supposed to be switching to Omnicell sometime this year or early next year.
I’m sure you’ll love the upgrade.
Love your video, very helpful for me.
Thank you 😊
Thank you your videos inspire me 😊
You are so welcome! 🤗
I start as a retail Pharmacy Technician at Walmart tomorrow 😁 Plan to go the hospital route after I get certified
That’s a great start!
Howucj is the starting pay? It's what I'm wanting to do lol
hey there, i just started my journey in pharmacy at a cvs retail location! was searching for some more info on becoming certified in nys and stumbled upon your video. i was wondering do you have to get permissions from staff to record for your youtube videos? i've always wondered this, even watching other videos in healthcare settings and have never asked. thanks!
I always ask my boss before I record and I also ask my coworkers if they want to be in the video as well.
Ty💜
You’re so welcome 😉
I'm in nursing school but pharmacy is what I like the most.
Things that have stopped me are 3: I'm not very good at math
I have a bad pronunciation since English isn't my first language
and I've heard the payment isn't very good.
Other than that I love pharmacy
❤️
Idk how I got here! But great video 🦋🤗
Thank you 😊 🦋
Great video! I use to be a surgical tech in the OR, and ended up being a stay at home mom for 14 years! Im now thinking about going back to school back into health field. This seems like something I would be good at. I would love to work in the hospital again if I did it , and not a pharmacy.
You can always do Surgical Tech again. You can try Phlebotomy, transport tech or even patient rep. Just dive in!!❤️
Do you have a video on navigating retail or hospital applications ?
I find it hard to even get an interview.
I don’t unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to get that type of information from multiple hospitals, nor retail facilities.
I know this video was posted from a while ago but how are the hours as a PT? Crazy hours at all? You look gorgeous! x
Thank you and it’s ok that’s it’s an old vid. Well, let me say this. Don’t work at a 24 hour facility if you’re not prepared to work all shifts. I’m learning this as we speak, it’s 0100 and I’m at work on the graveyard shift. Choose wisely 😭
That was cool 😎 I like it so much 0:09
Thank you ☺️
is it usually just you as the only pharmacy tech during your shift? you and multiple pharmacists or just one pharmacist? or multiple pharmacy techs? Thanks for the info and videos!
Hello. There’s always normally 2 technicians to 1 pharmacist. However, it does depend on the size of your pharmacy and the script count.
Late!? Ok now that is not good. Warm up the car? 😆 The elevator.
😂😂
Working at CVS for a month gave me bad experience as wanting to be a pharmacy technician. Maybe because it was a busy store. Even though I’m still interested in becoming one. I want to work at a hospital. I hate retail.
I understand, retail isn’t for everyone.
Yesss I worked at retail at Walmart and Walgreens and it’s so stressful and not enough pay or hours. I’m trying to get my certification so I can work at home for more.
This video was tremendously helpful! I have a question! I want to go to college for pharmaceutical sciences but I want to become a pharmacy tech first, I need a decent paying job while going to college. I'm not great at mental math in fact I'm so bad since I never practiced I'm probably worse off than I was when I was in school. I cant divide 3 digit numbers in my head and can barely do anything above that in my head. I can on paper but will this be a problem?
The calculations will be done for you as far as intravenous problem. However when trying to get the amount for millimeters and the quantity of tabletsI do suggest a calculator.
Same :(
where is the link to the school you were talking about in the beginning.
Hi there, we are in the process of updating our website. It should be up and running next week. I’ll leave the link under your comment as soon as we have it updated.
Hello ❤I am starting schooling for pharmacy tech I also have Autism after pharmacy I am gonna work my way up to ASD OT 😊ur really amazing and so professional wit the rules and regulations ❤😊I have subscribed

This what made me undecided on starting back studying in any medical program. Is vaccination required for pharmacy techs? I notice some states is finally stopping it. I refused to put that vaccine in my body.. I really been researching before start back studying.. Only because I have no problems at all and scare this might start weaken my strong immune..but thanks for the video its helping me make my decision
Every pharmacy is different, you can always call your local pharmacies to find out.
I start my pharmacy tech program on the 19th
Congratulations ‼️

Hows the pay working in the Hospital oppose to Retail? Is it a big increase?
Everything all depends on expensive and if you’re certified. I’ve noticed that most pharmacies aren’t hiring trainees that much anymore.
Formulas, formulas, formulas is one of my main concern. Having to memorize them. Being a potential PT😞😊
Well you definitely need to know them for the PTCB exam. Once you get in the field, the formulas are normally manipulated by the pharmacist.
Do they require to get the Covid booster? (One or both? Or neither?) Just wondering. Working with a school right now and they are requiring the booster but I don't really want it bc I already recently tested positive and was already fully vaxd, I feel like at the least there should be a waiting period...
Hi there, from my experience most onsite/online jobs only require both Covid vaccines. This means the initial shot and then the follow up after 21 days. Or the Johnson and Johnson which I think is one shot. I hope this helps.
I am an instructor too. Would love some tips.
I sure will! I’ll be making more videos soon.
I’m 16 and I just got hired as a pharmacy tech at a hospital. It’s my first job and I’m really excited. Any tips?
16!! That’s interesting 🧐 From my understanding you have to be 18 with a GED or high school diploma. Anywho, just watch my videos, I give a lot of great sound advice.
@@PharmacyTechLove in my state (Illinois) you can be a high school student no younger than 16 and be a pharmacy tech. The only difference is that you can’t make IV’s
Hi, so I’m currently a high school student and I turn 16 soon I wanted to become a pharmacy tech to get my foot in the door as for being in the medical field. My question to you is how do I start? do I call different retail or hospital pharmacies and see if they offer programs that train students who haven’t been to pharmacy school? Or do I fill out the application to get my license and then just start applying for jobs?
Hi I’m from Texas and I’m 21 and for me I went up to my local college and they offered programs which are called Continuing education (Might vary in some states) but to start you had to be 17 and over with already having your high school diploma or GED
Hi there. Well, since you’re only 15 you’ll have to wait. You must be at least 17 about to turn 18 and also coming into graduation before you need to begin. Also now, you have to take a course during affiliated program or you have to work 500 hours in a pharmacy before you can test. The rules have changed quite a bit in 2020
Exactly!
How much of a pain is dealing with insurance companies? Or do you not do a lot of that? I'm possibly going to accept a job in retail, but I'm hoping dealing with insurance companies and angry patients won't be too much of what I deal with.
The insurance isn’t bad at all in retail, you just have to make sure you have the correct card and know what identifiers to look for.
Do you typically work more than 8 hours? I have an interview coming up for a hospital position
Yes, for me 8 hours. I’m absolutely fine not working more 🤣😂
Do you think this is a stressful job? Asking because I’m thinking about going into this field but don’t want to go to work everyday &be stressed😩
It’s definitely not for everyone. You have to find a pharmacy that fits your lifestyle and your personality.
I’m a CPhT, currently working retail pharmacy. Looking into hospital pharmacy though
Have you applied to the hospitals in your location and made outreach calls?
😳 Your vaccinator didn’t wear gloves 😬 But I enjoyed your video, thank you!!
She sure didn’t 😳😳 I hadn’t even thought about that till now🤦🏾♀️
pharmacy you don't need school. majority is knowing ya brand/generic Rx, then it's split math, know ya laws. the way I learn is split Rx up in categories: heart, respiratory, endocrine, head, know when he suffix, prefix, basic medical terminology. I played Jeopardy with my kids.
Hi there! Unfortunately, the laws are changing. In some states you do have to take a course. Just know the stipulations in your state that you live in.
So far i havent had any responses from retail pharm tech trainee positions. Id prefer paid training but since no one is responding, Do you have any suggestions as to what pharmacy tech school i should do?
I’m in Texas and enrolled at Penn Foster College. I like it plus it’s all online!
I don’t have any suggestions on a school unfortunately. Most companies want you to be certified that’s why it’s so hard to find a job. Definitely look in your local area for college.
Im looking for a pharnacy tech job where i can work in the field. Where can i apply? Or does that type job exist as a pharmacy tech? When i say field i mean like some where just storing medications to be shipped out somewhere
Hello, it sounds like you mean mail order pharmacy. I would apply on indeed.com
Do you have to be vaccinated before you can work at a pharmacy?
Just depends on the state.
a hospital setting is obviously different than a local pharmacy. Dumb question but to you guys at the hospital have to deal with “customers” patients?
Absolutely not. We interact while walking down the halls delivering medication to different units in passing and that’s all. Some hospital to have retail pharmacies in them and you can also perform medication reconciliation if your pharmacy offers it.
Hello! Thank you for such informative video! Tell pls how to write to you? I'd like to know more about purchasing and accepting processes, if it is possible.
I’m not tutoring at the moment, and I’ve also never been a buyer in the pharmacy.
@@PharmacyTechLove do you know smb who is?
I want to get certified. But can't afford 200 a month on my retail pay
A lot of us are having hard times right now. We have to do what’s best for our future, but I definitely understand.
Most jobs will pay for you to get certified, like Walmart and cvs
Worked in pharmacy for 17 years. My hostipital had a similar set up and process except we used omnicell vs pyxis. It is a lot of work and can be exhausting. We also did sterile compounding including hyperalmentation and chemo. Mainly worked doing I.V.s but occasionally in the main pharmacy. Its a lot of work and pharmacy techs are underpaid and over worked.
Yes!! I recently found out that we could work at home for more money! Getting you some other certifications, and it will increase your pay.
Do pharmacy tech jobs train you before making you start on your own. I passed the test and am now certified but have no job experience. I’m so nervous
Don’t be nervous at all! Create you a sound résumé. I use “Résumé Genius”.
how do you feel about getting the vaccine?
Well, my main reason for getting it is to be here for my daughter.
Hay quá

✨✨✨I appreciate your ❤video I’m considering choosing this as a career. Also now that it’s 2023 do u regret getting the vaccine?
I definitely don’t regret it. Me and my friend was just talking about that the other day. For me it’s all about protecting my friends and my family.
That’s great I’m glad that you don’t . Also wanted to thank you 🙏 ❤for you video bc of you I got the job as a pharmacy technician ✨ ur video definitely help me . This would be my first job in the medical field. I was a universal Banker before this . Thank you again ✨🙏 Hope you’re Blessed and wish you and your family the best ❤❤❤❤
Do u have to do math at work? Or any kind of chemistry?
You will have to do a very small amount of math depending on where you work. The pharmacy technicians normally do not have to do any chemistry.
Is this for someone with social anxiety?
If you’re trying to get rid of your social anxiety…yes!!! It will go away really quickly, you won’t have enough time to even remember that you have social anxiety.
Were you required to get the vaccine to work in the hospital?
It just depends on if you had religious reasons, other than that, yes it was required.
My co workers were making me feel so bad so I left. I feel so embarrassed and ashamed of the situation. I'm not sure if this is for me
Omg!! Feel bad about what?? There are really some cruel people out here that don’t want to see other individuals grow in their field. I have dealt with a lot in the pharmacy and it was usually because of my coworkers.
@@PharmacyTechLove I work at Kroger and it was my first day doing release to patient because I usually do product dispensing and it was a long line and they were acting like they didn't want to help me. I didn't even get to do computer training. One customer had came and told me their DOB but they said July instead of 07 and I don't know the months number off the top of my head and so I asked the pharmacist, he told me and then like 5 minutes later I hear him going and whispering to one of the techs in the corner about it like we were in middle school. I felt so embarrassed. I went to the bathroom and didn't come back. I dont think the work environment is for me. The customers are fine, the co workers are generally assholes and make me feel so bad when I don't automatically get it right after they tell me something.
How do you get pay more because i see alot of pharm tech hiring for $16 or less. Especially if you’re fresh pharm tech. Also do you push or carry any heavy load at all? Especially going from department to department.
Most pharmacy technicians are starting out with $17 per hour depending on which state you live in. The $17 is without a certification, once you become certified you get paid more. I think someone may be informing you with the wrong information.
@@PharmacyTechLoveokay that’s good to know. I watched other pharm tech on RUclips and one specifically said they get paid $12 working for retail. I’m not sure if she meant without a certification. Watching your video made me want to go back to school. Do you recommend to go for a degree or certification program starting out. Hopefully that make sense
You do not have to have a degree to become a pharmacy technician, take a pharmacy tech class.
@@PharmacyTechLove thank you for replying. I subscribed to your channel and will be watching the rest .❤
You’re cute 🥰 as a button . Thanks for this video , I’m a bit scared of choosing this as my career , especially all the stress and angry 😡 customers 🤦🏻♀️
Just remember, as a pharmacy technician you do not have to work in retail and communicate with customers. There are other jobs as a pharmacy technician.

Correct! Get certified, get out there and do your best.
I was wondering how much schooling is hospital technician
There’s no difference in schooling for hospital, retail, at home, or any other pharmacy setting. All the schooling is the same, once you get your certification, you can apply anywhere as long as you are certified or have your trainee license.
How much math do you do in a pharmacy tech position?
Not too much everything is computer-generated. If it’s a TPN the pharmacist will calculate all ingredients.
Upper body strength of a kitten 😂
It’s true 🤷🏽♀️😂
ya just go get a job cvs. Walgreens, Walmart, hospital HCA. provisional liscense is only $60. give you the okay from the state to touch rx
What’s the average pay for a hospital pt?
Depends on experience.
Hello I'm currently in San Jose California, if I were to enroll in your pharm tech program online to get the education and certificate, will it be accepted in San Jose?? And do I need college for me to be accepted in the workforce like retail or hospital?? Thank you
That’s an excellent question! Yes, we are an accredited program and when you pass your PTCB Exam it will be national. The only thing that you’ll need to do after that is apply for your state board certificate if that state requires it. Just google California State Board of Pharmacy or either call them (916) 518-3100 to find out. And no, college isn’t required for either of the two.
@@PharmacyTechLove thank you! I went to the website and I have one more question, how much does it cost to enroll in the program to get the certificate or the degree? I saw it says around 1200$ or so? Is that right? Or that's just for the PTCB trainning? Sorry I'm kinda confused😅😅
Ok I saw it says from 4999$ and down to 1197$, will there be any more sales in the future?? Because I'm in the middle of moving my house and I can't really enroll in the program within 2 days. Thank you!
The program is to help you study and pass your PTCB Exam. Currently the price is $1,197 I’m not sure how long this price will last.
Also, you don’t have to pay the full amount at once. You can always pay $200 per month.
