Ive had my FLX10 for about 2 weeks now and its awesome to watch you mess around to have good reference on some things i could possibly utilize in the future, so thank you for that, stems are alot of fun. I didnt hear too much stem audio bleed through from this like i do on some of my recordings, do you experience that?
Thank you so much man. I think it’s such a shame that Rekordbox has probably the worst stem quality to date. Serato, ADJ, Virtual DJ.. the competition is just so far ahead. But I guess they will at least catch up some day because they also owned Serato DJ and when they do it’s gonna be awesome. Because Rekordbox for me is the best and most stable and most amazing dj software out there 😉 no dropouts, no crashes.. just convenience.. but stem quality is really bad 😔
I got my flx10 a month ago... was sad to leave the dj505 because it had a 16 step FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE sequencer beatmaker equipped with the sound of the 606 707 808 and 909 drums kits. Left deck started freezing during playback though. Anyways how do you like the blue button fx? The last 2 on the far right I doubt anyone will ever use. The price is almost twice as much as the dj505 was also... fml both fx sections will not apply to the stem circle you have turned off. I always thought only the color section did that but a friend that had one learnt me good🤣
I get the murky sounding stem shit sometimes too... but I found that if you apply stems to the eq you can take that murky sounds away. You can only do it in rekordbox
@@Moonwalker6969 it is a pro controller and has way to much features for a beginner and it is expensive. But sure you can start your way in this thing. But I would suggest to look on RUclips for a beginner controller comparison and than choose your first gear. Crossfaded YT Channel hast such a video for example
How are you finding the FLX10? really can't decide on that or the RX3. How is the responsiveness of the FLX10? Any lag issues or problems from a operating system perspective? have a 2015 Macbook Air and apprehensive about whether it can run it or not. Just factory reset it so should be sweet in terms of performance.
I think your decision should consider if you want to dj with a laptop or without in general. Personally I would go for the RX3 because it can control rekordbox dj software as well as it is able to run completely standalone. The FLX 10 needs a laptop and software. I'd only suggest the FLX 10 over the RX3 if STEMS is an absolutely must have for you and you wanna go nuts with it. But be aware that for STEMS your Macbook needs much power under the hood. Not so much in Rekordbox than in Serato but it still needs power. And as I had the FLX for a couple of time I can give you an inside that when you use the STEM functions on the FX unit it changes the Sound of the Audio Signal and it doesn't Sound good anymore. Like even if you are not actually using an Effect, turning on or of STEMS in the Fx unit removes also frequencies of the running tracks. I hated this as a perfectionist 😄 so I hope you find this helpful ;)
I agree on this very good comment, pin-point. I got flx-10 instead of rx-3 a cpl of months ago, mostly because of the stems and also having a 4 channel mixer (a bit the dmx output, couldnt get any lighting compatible yet though). However, recently i am thinking mayne i should have gone for the rx-3. As obvious now, i dont find the stems quality widely usable on rekordbox yet, havent tried serato yet though. It is very hard to find tracks that stem seperation works fine. Again as David mentioned, turning on/off the "fx part select" button, changes the track quality even though fx button is off, bugging me as well. Might say dont turn it on if you wont use it but sometimes you just cant do it at the same time so it needs to be ready upfront. Also i experienced some issues when i first got it like turning on any stem on any deck, was killing the other deck on mixer, although volume faders are up, deck playing, no sound. Went to warranty for this reason with a detailed video but they couldnt find anything wrong and suggested i use a ups for clean electric voltage and frequency, solved the problem. Have 6th gen I7 notebook with 32gb ddr4 ram with nvme ssd, not enough power. Yesterday had to re-start recording a set at 30th minute because of a 1 beat time glitch in rekordbox. If rx3 had a 4 channel mixer i would immediately upgrade to it since it can control rekordbox as well if you want to. Also sometimes it is just too tiring turning on the laptop, opening the rekordbox, making sure no other software running to disturb rekordbox, after a long work day. Sometimes you just want to be able to switch on the standalone unit and speakers and readg to go for a short relaxing session.. Was too long but i hope was helpful, cheers ✌️
Best to turn off multicore & enable to use more RAM for best performance 'for now' in extensions settings. Pioneer/Rekordbox need to add an option for core allocation or priority splitting between threads. Pre sets. For example enough left to process basic tasks the rest to analyse. Using all cores/threads for analysis just maxes every CPU & leaves the basic tasks (playing back tracks & mixing between other channels)CPU unattended & causes pops & audio issues due to the 100% CPU load on analysis. Making the above adjustments solves the issue. But yes, it would be good to use a CPUs potential, just needs better implementation.
@@tankerock It's definitely a good idea (stems), although used in the right context. Right context being to record a stem on its own for remix or production or mash up. To use in a DAW. Even for a live mash up or DJ face off/comp. Using the feature all the time would soon become stupid & tiresome to the listener. The software should get better, however it seems the free update version isn't free anymore & costs £84 a year. If I spend over a grand on DJ equipment, like here I expect to use it with no limitations, like all the rest of my gear. So I'll stick to the last version, that works just fine.
@@ashleymcgovern5120 So get Virtual DJ, one license use with all of your professional controllers even in the future with the same lic and use all the stems you want.
Thank you! No it doesn’t feel cheap it’s definitely pro level but there’s is still a slight difference in quality when you compare it to the pro mixer and players from pioneer or even an XDJ XZ or XDJ RX3👍🏻 but it feels a lot better than the FLX6 oder FLX4!
Gonna keep my FLX10 in a flight case because the plastic is a little thin compared to something like a Rane Performer or an RX3. Also prefer the platters on both of those as well. That being said, FLX10 does it all, and allows you to keep libraries current with both Rekordbox standalone and Serato Pro. I like that the layout is similar to Club standard as well. Dedicated Serato controllers with paddle fx are just not what I want to build muscle memory with. I like keeping a 1200 into input 4 as well. Kinda just using it as a dedicated scratch surface right now.
My rekordbox is ALWAYS freezing up and crashing... it's not my pc. I have the most recent updates software and firmware so idk. I have serato on my pc as well, think that could be it?@davidmahner
