First and foremost if Dallas want to be great they need Luka Doncic. However, i think it's time that Luka starts playing for the team rather than the team playing for Luka. The Mavericks have the talent and the depth to be a great team and there are guys like PJ Washington, Quentin Grimes and Naji Marshall that have shown they can contribute a lot to that team both in offense and defense. To take the most out of them you have to give them space and time to operate and not just watch. Less iso, less step-backs will help both the team and Luka's efficiency. You have arguably one of the best two-man rotation in the center position, you have good and agile forwards, you have shooters, you have personality and two of the best closers in the game and - as this stretch of games have shown - you have a well coached team. The pieces are there for success. The task is to find the optimal way to put it all together. If you go back in the last few years you will notice that Luka-less Mavs couldn't win a game. Now the things are different.
I agree with you! When you watch the team very clearly now, there is no much of spacing. I think when Luka returns he should play more a point guard than scoring more. Dallas relies too much on iso as well so if they are locked in they are not able to get result. Look at Celtic even though Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown can operate in ISO’s they operate more with ball movement to keep on switching opponents until they get the right space to shoot
