I saw all these bridge programs and really enjoyed them. I like those where Jeremy Flint is commendation. There were others he commentated on that were quite light hearted - with some top class players. It is marvelous to be able to see them again.
Glad you enjoyed it, Paul. Have you seen the New Tricks tournament series? If not, I'm sure you would enjoy it. You can watch at www.newtricksbridge.club or search new tricks bridge in RUclips and select one of the tournament series videos (not the tutorials)
Tony is such a Yorkshireman. "That Zia don't half talk a load of old twaddle don't he? Levitating in Nepal? You daft bugger! Never saw bloke floating in air win bridge 'and."
BBC2. Series of 13 episodes starting on Saturday 24 October, 1987 at 6.20pm. There were other series in 1986, featuring Zia Mahmood, Robert Sheehan, Christian Mari and Arturo Franco, and in 1989, featuring Tony Forrester, Zia Mahmood, Bob Hamman and Christian Mari.
It would not be the same bidding in Puddleby on Marsh (which sounds like it in the Uk).. They would be playing Acol, which uses a weak No Trump, 12-14 points, and not a strong No Trump,15-15 points.
Stunning play by Forrester on the first hand.

Zia is known for many years for being charming and entertaining, but he seems really prickly in this series :)
It was filmed in summer 1987 - I know, I was part of the crew. It went out on the BBC (2?).
Now, what's this I understand about a £50,000 bonus for two straight grand slams bid and made? I thought the BBC couldn't afford such things.
A guard squeeze to South works! In the endgame play spade Queen, scoping the spade Jack
Does anyone have an episode where the 50K pounds is won for two straight grand slams?

Needs Jesse May of the poker world to commentate
I know that this is pre-1997, but how old is it exactly?
It's dated at the end of the programme (in Roman numerals), 1987 :)
what channel was this on and when?
