The eyes, the eyes!😣😟And I know about the in and out of the cover thing and being wakened up by a wet snoot to the face! And stupid daddy Scott is going to be owned by a third one starting next week! Post Diva I've learnt that if you don't have a whippet you get something done and as my life has changed and I now have a big property and 5 buildings to tend to I actually need that. The domestic doodle is easy to please but I miss Diva terribly so I think I need servants so I have the time necessary to be a whippet servant‼
I just saw this video and love it so much!!! I am owned by a rescue Whippet/Dachshund mix. But you would never know as she checks off every box of a whippet trait. Her giveaway is being slightly smaller size and floppy ears. Her name is Mona Lisa because she smiles - a lot! She is the best and sweetest dog ever. I am a widow and care taker for my adult handicapped son. I can’t tell you what it means to us both to have this sweet person (I mean, dog) in our family. She reads us both like a book. When my son even begins to get upset, she goes right to him to support and comfort him. For this alone, I am gladly her servant. She has brought so much joy and comfort to us. And I must thank you, Addie, for your enjoyable and informative videos, without which, I would have never known I had been chosen to own a 99% whippet treasure! God bless!
I love this video. It is a good feeling when you know you're not alone in being a little odd in looking after your dog 😂. Of course I am being watched while typing this comment by a whippet in her bed with two pillows and three blankets. 😅 Thank you for your videos.
And another thing. Can you please make a video about what you feed your Whippets? We have had serious issues with our Maja this first year. We have had help from both veterinarian and the breeder and we tried almost everything. But she’s really small and thin. 13 months now and weighs 9 kg. Only now we realise that she’s extremely picky with food and the only way to maintain her weight is spoiling her or she just won’t eat and lose weight. Now I have to make one thing to breakfast, a different thing to lunch and then something else for dinner. And constantly changing different foods and brands. She hates dry food and I have to mix it with something good for her to eat it. So it’s home made food, wet food and raw food. All served like in a Michelin Restaurant. Do any of your Whippet have this issue? Could you make a video on this topic? Thanks for a great channel. Watch every video. Love your energy.
I'm so sorry about your troubles with Maja. Picky eaters are a pain. I don't have enough experience in this area, as most of mine would eat just about anything. Erys is my first picky whippet (picky since day one), but we found the golden middle with kibble for breakfast and raw for dinner, with no changes or toppers. Some of my oldies, like Lacey and Cooper developed picky eating habits. With them, we have had times of complete desperation, but somehow we've managed to find foods they like the majority of the time. But in a larger pack, all of mine are more eager to finish their meals fast, or else they believe there's a chance someone else will steal them. One thing I've discovered with picky dogs is, the more variety you offer, the pickier they become as they expect a change with every next meal. So the more you're trying to please them, the more hopeless their eating habits become. I'd say, if she likes a particular brand of kibble, raw or cooked meal more than the rest you've offered, stick to it and reduce the toppers and variety you add for a starter, to slowly develop an "either this, or nothing" mentality. This will be a slow process, but it could work, just as it did with Erys after I got too tired of her picky eating. That is, if you're absolutely certain her behavior is due to picky eating only and not because of an underlying health condition.

So we were advised to change by our breeder. Then she ate it for a while and then she stopped eating it. So we did as you said. Be hard on her and take the food away if she doesn't eat and give no alternatives. Then she ate nothing for a week and lost weight. Of course we were worried and contacted the vet. But everything is ok with Maja. This has continued for almost six months. You can't force her to eat food she doesn't want. She just won't eat and is losing weight. She's already so thin that we don't dare to take any chances, so we have to spoil her instead. It's the only way she actually eats and maintains her weight. We have had several dogs and have a Chinese Crested so it helps a little that they have to compete for the food but not much. If Maja doesn't want to eat, she can refuse. Whippets are lovely but a bit difficult by having a very strong will of their own. More like cats as some say.@@ShowPaws
I have a 14 week old whippet cross with Italian Greyhound puppy and I have just found your videos! I LOVE THEM!! AND I LOVE your humour!!!!! So relatable haha
The ears are definitely the thermostat.. Cold ears=Cold Whippet. Also if the inner ears are pale- they are cold. When they are hot, their inner ears turn pink. a heated fluffy blanket is what my Whippet loves.
Thanks. My first Whippet and I constantly think somethings wrong with her because she whines about anything and nothing. This made us go to the veterinarian when she was a puppy several times. We had other dogs and they complain only if something is really bad like stomach issues. So it would have been great help knowing this better before getting a Whippet. Videos like yours are both funny and educational.
