Such a nice dog. Mine is aging and still acts like a puppy. She's having some more health issues though and just had a tumor removed earlier this year. I'm really gonna miss her when she's gone.
Wish I would have came across this video when I bought my storm door last year . Would have saved myself 150 on the install . The door I have looks exactly the same as this one just in brown . Love and it kept my dog from tearing up the regular door . Also kept me from having to get up over and over to let him out . Just got up once in the morning and he was free all day do do his business.
@@michaelesposito2629 wouldn't be worth it to drive to someone's house to install for much less than that. Sounds reasonable for a short service call for a screen door.

I thought they were going to show putting a dog door into both the storm door and house door. I've had to put several in outside house steel doors and it's a project. This setup for a storm door looks nice, but the price at the big box stores was more than the security / steel door itself. Nice job done by Tommy, of course.
Well as you can see here it is well past time to do away with Philips drive and flat head screws completely move to Torx and or Square drive attachments You do have to be careful torque wise but bits will last for a very long time. I use these methods wherever I possible can.
Agreed but still not as good as I mentioned. Almost zero loss with Torx or Square but you need to be mindful of their ability to over torque and damage your works in progress.
This is a really bad example of their ease of use and viability. Heck I'd be doing it without even pre-drilling the holes, the woman is just useless with the tool and isn't applying enough pressure to injure a baby insect.
I agree. Just a few days ago I installed that same type of storm door. Unfortunately, it came with all those white-head Philips screws. If I knew that, I'd have taken some white Robertson (square head) screws.
But could you install a dog door in the other door as well? I want my dogs to be able to go in and out when I’m not home, but I’m not going to leave the back door open all the time, and we’re moving in a few years so we don’t want to put one in the wall.
I need this but when I went into a big box store they told me if I had a metal/steel door they would not put a screen door over it because it would damage the metal door. Being it gets to hot in Texas?
I don't know how thick or strong that storm door is but regularly you install the closer in the middle to prevent the door from warping. Usually they are only about 2 inches thick of light aluminum rails, panelling/glass so over time the bottom will not be water tight. Only heavier door get closers at the top.
Salvador Ruiz-Esparza try to see if is in plum. if not check all the screws bc old houses have a lot of contract and expansion and the screws will get out
Why do most people use a drill/driver starting and stopping while putting in a screw??? If you hold steady speed and pressure, the screw will go in easier. And with the clutch set to the proper setting, you won't strip out the screw hole.
I never understood that either? Why does everyone pulsate it instead of set the damn dril and go or at the least, drive it in until it's close and pump it firm I can understand that. But all these youtubey people and these "Imma show you how to" people I keep seeing do that. It's annoying as fuck right?
I can't speak for most people, but in Tom's case, I think it has to do with him being an "old guy." Earlier drivers didn't have the precise speed control that new ones do, so someone like him who's been doing this a long time got in the habit of quick, short pulls of the trigger to maintain control. Kind of like pumping the brakes pre-ABS. Now it's completely unnecessary to do the short pulls versus a light, steady pull, but muscle memory is one hell of a drug.
@@Sacapuntas69 nothing wrong with it this guy is just annoying af, center punching is nice because it give a point for the bit to "draw" on. However , if the hole is all the way through and works it doesn't matter
Probably help if you used the correct size bit. Looks like the screws are a No. 3 Phillips and the bit in the driver is a No.2 Phillips. Hence the non-stop camming out.
left the untreated wood bared on the inside??.. I would have covered with something... that wood will need to be replaced in 5 years as the wet dog's fur touches it and what have you... but a covering with any anti weather material would have made it last for 100 years... surprised they did that, I guess you can still cut some vinyl paper or something and cover it. otherwise nice vid!

It doesn't matter the door size. It actually doesn't even have to be a door. If you want to check if ANYTHING is square, you can measure 3" in one direction, 4" in the opposite direction and the distance between them should be 5". It doesn't even have to be inches.... it could be, 3"x4"x5" or 3'x4'x5' or 30'x40'x50'. If you want to learn more about Pythagoras' Theorem you can google it. Hope this helped.

There's nowhere for it to mount in the middle of the door. The door was designed for that piston to be at the top

It does not seem to me that a dog door only on a storm door makes any sense. You still have to open another door for the dog to have access/egress???
It drives me crazy whenever someone using a phillips head on a power tool lets the bit jump out of its grooves.
Doesn't help that the Philips head is literally designed to cam out though. :(
