- Fallen Empire comes to an end with a John Carl Buechler classic and arguably one of Empire’s best films! Harry Potter Jr. and his family (yes, that is his name) move into the same apartment building as the evil troll Torok, who wants to transform his neighbors into fae folk of the forest as a means to merge the realms. With his magic ring, Torok transforms into Harry’s little sister Heather O’Rourke from Poltergeist and goes around the complex mutating the other tenants into plants, elves, and Ghoulies™.
Phil Fondacaro delivers some of his best work to date, Sonny Bono and Julia Louis-Dreyfus fall prey to the costume jewelry ring of floral death, and Shelly Shack strikes back from ‘The Stepfather’ so you know there are MDU family matters at stake here. Grab your anti-magic lightning spear, take those old records off the shelf, and don’t forget the chocolate E. Clair, because we’re grabbing a warm blanket of nostalgia and getting cozy with Troll!

this film and Buechler is the reason I became a fan of horror, scifi, monsters and movies in general. I would watch Troll over and over and over and over as a little kid, that I use to close my eyes at night and watch the film in my head and timed it out perfectly, even each music cue...
You and me both! It needs so much more love than it gets. -Joe
AH, Man...that opening! I've loved Phil Fondacaro ever since I was a kid, watching him on Sabrina the Teenage Witch! That's so cool. The Yattering himself!
I can just imagine Connor getting cozy after a hard day at work, relaxing on the couch, eager to watch the movie for the podcast and enjoy a good ol' horror..just to discover is another little creature movie ." La Scolaaaaaa!!" he cries in a McBain from the Simpsons fashion
btw i love these,keep'em coming!
Whoop whoop...good shit...would you guys do one on clint Howards Ice cream man?
It was originally on the schedule for this year, but we'll most likely pull the trigger next year!
I remember watching this as a kid. I love when you guys cover these random movies from my childhood. I think nowadays more people know of Troll 2 (which has zero to do with this one)… By the way,Throw Momma from the Train is one of my favorites... Last, but certainly not least, congratulations to Sean!
39:55 oooh hell yeah!!!!!!! Hopefully by then I find the 8th Code!
Love this movie... is a favorite of mine from my childhood years....
One of our favorites too!
The actor that plays the troll will be at cryptic-con in Seattle!!
Phil Fondacaro, we've met him before and he is the nicest man ever. Love him!
I’ll buy a picture from him. 👉🏾
When I was a kid I thought this was a captain America movie with the troll holding his shield
Torok vs. Steve Rogers? I could watch that all day. -Joe
@@MovieDumpster Oooo you Know somewhere deep down n dirty in the MDU they’re going at it while Howard the Duck warming up the Quack-Fu moves saying “I got next”
This is actually the first "scary" movie that I ever watched. I would have been 5 or 6. My Dad rented it, and I watched it with him.
And the Troll scared me so much.
For some reason it made me afraid of behind our couch.
I didn't watch this again until I was an adult.
It was nothing like what I remembered it.
*my traumatized distorted childhood memory: The super scary Troll drags people behind the couch that takes them to a dark scary forest where the Troll kills them.
*What actually happened in the movie when I finally re-watched it as an adult: The not so scary Troll turns residents of the apartment complex into smaller trolls, and turns an apartment into a magic forest.
I don't know why my little kid brain interpreted this as a Troll dragging people behind a couch and killing them, but I did.
It made me afraid of going behind our living room couch as a kid.
Just goes to show two things:
1. Kids are dumb.
2. Memory is NOT reliable.
Keep on being awesome my dudes! 😁
Hahaha, still sounds pretty scary to us! Thanks for listening and all of your support, brother! 💚📼
I'm new to Movie Dumpster (coming from Hack the Movies) but what the heck is the shotgun wielding wheelchair riding lady they refer to around 4 minutes in?
We are working on a compendium for our Movie Dumpster Universe (MDU) and which episodes have what lore so it’s easier to catch up and navigate, but Granny Van Daam (GVD) has her origins in our ‘Bleeders’ episode which you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/Z1b-XCBwo2M/видео.html
Thanks for coming over and checking out the show, we hope you dig it! 💚📼
Thanks. Will do (especially since I've seen that flick). Hey, you made me want to re-watch "Troll," so that says something.
Thanks for listening!
I know this is old, but it feels like the best place to put it. CONGRATZ on your marriage Sean!
Thank you!! 🙌📼💚
I don’t know, I think Harry Potter is more a rip off of Books or Magic. (English boy with glasses and an owl)
Maybe a little of both!
Have you guys seen The hallow? cuz I actually watched it before I watched The changeling and thought it was kind of interesting and creepy because they're using the real fungus just like from The last of Us with cordyceps to kind of explain some stuff.
No, but we want to check it out!
Wait like Miles O'Keefe Ator?
Holy shit I've seen that movie. I didn't realize it had any connection to the previous Ator films.
Pre-review Granny is shocking 4:13
You know we can't get enough of GVD!
