Rocco looks just like my boy Arthur, who is 3 years now. This is the best understanding of Akitas I've seen from a trainer on RUclips. Well done. If you are interested in owning an Akita you should study the leash communication in this series closely! By a large margin they are not food driven, people pleasing dogs, and require confident owners who are willing to stick to it all the way.
This is exactly the video series I needed! Just got a 3 month old American Akita pup. He's already very well behaved and wanting to listen so I'm very excited to train him on leash!
Dana Madl glad the content I put out is useful! If any of my video can help at least one person I’m happy with that ! All I want is to be able to help as many people as possible!
Thank you for posting this very helpful information as I own an Akita that is currently 8 months old..he’s showing signs of aggressive behavior ...which concerns me.so after watching your videos..I’ll start using your training techniques ASAP...My Akita pulls while walking and has been jumping at me and growling and biting me which is upsetting...but I’ll continue to work with him so hopefully he’ll get better as I’ll use some of your techniques to train him.. Thanks again!
Brit Meyer thank you ! And if you need more help ie one to one session don’t hesitate to ask if you are in the uk if not I can always refer someone near you!
This is exactly what my Akita does and he’s 8 months old too. Did this training help you because when I do too much he just starts biting and I don’t know what to do.
Thanks for these videos really helpful tried the pulling up with the collar and lead it worked to an extent but still pulling very lightly as my dogs always sniffing the ground…I’ll get the same lead you used in the video Thanksss
I have 2 Akita’s. I walk them often using spike collars and commands. I talk to them always, good girl, good boy, you’re walking your mom, and we learned Halt right off. We halt for every car, or if I need a break, or I see potential danger. They are 3 yrs old , 130 lb and 100 lbs, and I am female 112 lbs. I definitely remain the alpha at all times which greatly helps, they want to please me. I wish I had started as puppies with the nose collars. The leash you use would be tough for me to manage with 2. You give good advise.
Debbie DePaolo great to hear the owners were no where near ready for that tool so sleep lead was better suited and to be honest that dog did great on that!
hie180 glad my video helps when you do get a slip lead pls go and watch how to fit the slip lead in my playlist under useful info as there is a way for right side and left side! Feel free to keep us posted on how you getting on ! And you can also follow us on Facebook Geoffrey Dollé Balanced Dog Trainer and Instagram geoffreydollebalancedogtrainer kind regards
Please do good research on this breed before getting one. They are gorgeous but arent easy. Need to be dedicated to the breed for the rest of his/hers life. And by asking if its an AA or JAI it seems you havent done proper research yet. No offence! Just a very important tip ;)
Really enjoyed this series. I learned a lot. Seems like half of it is training the owner.
Hi thank you ! Glad you enjoyed the videos!
yes you are right the most part is teaching the owner!
I´really a very good video. training a dog from the very beginning. Thank you so much

Akita has a large thick neck and the best way to tie him is from his shoulder
Nice dog is this american akita or japenese?
Mostackpro as far as I’m aware is an American akita
