God Bless you Kristen, you are great!! Thank you for all your work and sharing. I'm 50, not a cook but new to Instantpot and you have become part of my kitchen and my family's tummys, in a good way, ha! Happy Birthday and a loving next year!
Happiest of Birthdays Kristen! You have the best recipes! I was looking for your macaroni and cheese video and I stumbled upon your Blackberry Crisp which is going to go perfectly with it. My grandkids are coming over and we are going to make homemade ice cream. Thank you for everything you do!
I made this yesterday and it was wonderful! I subbed the cornstarch for tapioca starch and I love the way it thickens the juice from the berries! What a treat! Can't wait to try it with peaches and the classic apple as well. You're awesome!
Oh my goodness Kristen!! Had to make your berry crisp today! I had some extra pears I needed to use, so I peeled and sliced them and added some frozen blackberries, blueberries and cherries Served with vanilla ice cream I have no words….😉
Happy birthday Kristen! I thank you so much for everything you do for us here on RUclips. I have found your recipes to be consistently successful and tasty! ❤️
How much butter do you use to butter the pan? Also, do you use unsalted or salted butter? What about the butter used with the oatmeal..is this salt free or salted? Also, I have 3-5 year old cornstarch and arrowroot. Does this make any difference do you think? Also, Have you ever done a row of the oats/flour then a row of berries, then a topping of more oats and flour? Will that make any difference in the cooking time? I live on Whidbey Island and have just picked a bunch of blackberries. Also, have you ever tried using a food mill to get rid of some of the blackberry seeds? Thanks for any info you can provide
Hi there! I use unsalted butter for all my recipes, and I do a very, very light coating on the pan. Typically, I just use a wrapper from the stick of butter. As for arrowroot vs cornstarch, either will work, as long as not expired. I would not use a food mill or layer the crisp for this recipe. You want the topping to become golden and crispy. For a food mill to work, you would need to cook the blackberries first, then run them through the mill, then sweeten, thicken, and bake and that would change the recipe. I love Whidbey island! We have family there.
I’m so excited to tell you I made the blackberry crisp today! Served with vanilla ice cream!..Was soooo Good!!!! Delicious

yummmieeeeeeeeeee...but can I eliminate the lemon, never liked them..ty
The little bit of lemon can't be detected, just helps to balance it all out the sweetness, but feel free to leave out.
I wonder how we could make this recipe into a single serving…?..for 1-2 people
You can adjust the serving size to 1 in my recipe card (amindfullmom.com/blackberry-crisp/) and then bake it in a ceramic ramekin for 25-30 minutes.
